    I have tried 10+ fried rice recipes and this is by far my absolute favorite! The combination of basil and fish source adds such a unique dimension of flavor to the fried rice, and the chili gives the rice a really nice kick. I literally devoured it in less than 5 mins! Thank you Marion for making my life so flavorful.

    Tip, if you don't have the time to make a day old rice, try cooking basmati rice with 1 or 2 tbsps less water required and it's life changing. You don't get the starchy clumps and it's just so fluffy and it's easy to stir.

    • @keepcalmlovedinosaurs8934
      @keepcalmlovedinosaurs8934 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a similar technique. Plus I add distilled vinegar to dissolve the starch.

    • @keepcalmlovedinosaurs8934

      @@siva992 Vinegar won't radically spoil the taste of the rice, so as you use like a teaspoon amount. Also you can mask the essence by adding a clove of garlic, or piece of ginger or lemon grass while you boil the rice. It depends on what you serve it with.

    Made this yesterday. The end result was addictively delicious. I added a bit of dark soy sauce (which is made from mostly molasses) instead of sugar so mine was super dark but still looked great and shiny and delicious. Forgot to fry the egg first and use the same oil for the rice so I had to use more oil, damn it! Also, don't stir-fry it too long after you put the basil in or the aroma would be less potent, and accompany this with a glass of refreshing coke. 10/10 best home-made meal ever.

I used all the same stuff except chicken( used regular chilli powder flakes, and regular basil) and follow the instruction. I do not like egg so I omitted. Throughly yummy. I paired with crispy tofu. Cut n slice extra firm tofu into triangle, salt and fry for 2 min. Wala! Wish I had a picture. I am making another batch because I am going to meal prep it 🙈🐵

    Marion ... how you eat this with 6 Birdseye chillies I don’t know ... I used 1 larger chilli and that made me cough and eyes water. However, despite replacing basil with mushrooms and capsicum as no fresh basil of any sort, it was DELICIOUS.... and you are so right about the crispy egg making it ... I was dubious, but 100% won over. Love your videos and recipes (and Mama Nois too) keep them coming.

    This version looks like the closest to what I had in Thailand. She's so adorable too!! Definitely trying this but will omit the chilis haha. I've been trying so hard to find the version that tastes like the ones sold in the streets. Kisses from the Philippines!! xx

    You are correct about Holy basil and Sweet basil. Thanks for the good and correct video. You are so cute. From Thailand.

    I see many stir frys add aromatics at the beginning, and others after the food is cooked to prevent burning - I've tried both and can't make up my mind.

      After is better. If you add them before the seasonings burn and stick to the bottom of the pan rather than getting incorporated into the rice
