This seems like it would be a good format for a real quick pick up and play style. Imagine making custom decks for this format and just being able to get a quick game in during a lunch break
This set is so cute. I really hope that these Kanto starter arts release as legal promos at a later date.

Would be kind of a fun alternate format. No need to move energies, reduced bench, three prize tokens instead of cards, 30 card decks and only single prizers.

Ooo I've been waiting for this. I actually taught my mom how to play during covid with the Sword and Shield Rillaboom and Inteleon theme decks, but we played just like these cards with no abilities or weaknesses
No house rules required, which is a big plus for My First Battle!

Ive been loving the mew v max. Would you happen to be able to know of a new deck list that incorporates the new paradox rift cards and mew v max.
The Mew VMAX deck doesn’t really gain anything out of Paradox Rift but continues to be strong. It just won an online tourney with 170+ players and no new cards.

Haha, my son is unfortunately also a few years to young for this (2 years) but I'm going to try to teach it to my godchild in the coming week. Will be very interesting to see if he can get the hang of it at 4,5 years, haha.

My kid just got this for their birthday, but we have the Pikachu Bulbasaur one and I have a question and I have not been able to get answered so hopefully you can help. Magneton has a magnetic circle attack that says it does 20 more damage for each of your benched pokémon.
Does that mean if the attacking player has two pokémon on his bench that it does 40 additional damage to the active card? Or does it mean that every benched pokémon that the player getting attacked has each get 20 damage even though they are on the bench? I can interpret that statement either way and have no clue which is correct.

Your first interpretation is correct. Magnetic Circle does 20 base damage to the active Pokemon, plus 20 more damage to the active for each Pokemon you have on your bench. If you have 3 Pokemon on your bench, you would do 20 base damage to the active, plus 60 additional damage for a total of 80.
There are Pokemon that can attack the bench in the full game, but not in My First Battle. For attackers like that, their attacks are either worded in a way where you can hit any Pokemon, like Radiant Greninja’s Moonlight Shuriken attack (www.tcgplayer.com/product/272246/pokemon-swsh10-astral-radiance-radiant-greninja?Language=English) or specifically state they hit the bench like Alolan Ninetales GX’s Snowy Wind attack: m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Alolan_Ninetales-GX_(Lost_Thunder_132)

Thanks for the video. We enthusiastically watched together with my 6 year old daughter and bought the pikachu pack. But it has been two months and she wants to have new carda. But I don't know where to start? Will The packs that I can buy around be compatible with this board? If you can help, we will be very happy. Thanks for your tome.

If you have the Pikachu set and want more, definitely grab the Squirtle/Charmander set. Those cards are also compatible with the Pikachu set you have.
Unfortunately, the cards you get in packs technically aren’t compatible. I have thought about ways of using those cards but they’re overpowered relative to My First Battle.
If you have both sets and still want more, you might want to graduate to Battle Academy.

This set uses the main game rules and 60-card decks, but it has everything you need to get started with a board, full manual, 3 beginner-friendly decks, and even a step-by-step tutorial walking you both through the first few turns of the game.

For someone that has never played Pokémon, and never been interested in nerd entertainment... this is still beyond confusing. I'm trying to show my daughter how to play and your game play is still targeting people with significant knowledge and/or experience with these trading cards
Are there any particular questions you have that maybe I could try to answer?
