Seems like there is some confusion, but this video is NOT part of the Evolution Series! Episode 2 of the Evolution Series will be out sometime in February.
There’s something special about seeing someone so knowledgeable about the Pokemon TCG, who is considered one of the greatest, see a shiny Kirlia and go “oh that’s the special whachamacallit!”
The first thing I normally reccomend for newer players if they're going to open packs is an ETB. Gives you energy, dice, sleeves and usually some good cards to get you off the ground! (especially if they also get a prebuilt deck of whatever type they want to play based off of their pulls in the ETB)
The stare Azul was giving Chip when he didn't realise he could use Feint was incredible. I have to say, it's very refreshing seeing some veterans of the game take on challenges that limit themselves, you get to see some cards and some plays you wouldn't see often in the meta, and wouldn't otherwise think about!
I love this. My husband and I did something similar with our friends at our local shop. We each got a paldean fates ETB and made a 40 card deck with cards in the etb and 1 prize pack we got from the store. We had 6 people and did best of 1 for 3 rounds. It was lots of fun.
Got back into IRL card playing in November after a 17 year hiatus. Having a blast. Azul has been a great tool in getting back into the swing of things! Keep up the great work guys!
Recently getting into TCG and it was so interesting seeing Azul having a strategy from the first few packs while Chip had no idea what he was going to do and how it all switched in the end with the randomness actually paying off while the thought strategy failed.
I blame my older cousin for getting me addicted with pokemon cards again. He bought a single etb for silver tempest last year and we opened it up. Like 40 minutes later he buys another one and gives me all of the bulk cards. He took any of the hits for himself but let me keep any of the ones I pulled. Love him.
I get how you feel! When I was a kid, I was so into Pokemon cards and my mom would sometimes buy me some booster packs. But as I got older, I just kinda stopped for some reason. I was still into Pokemon cuz I would always watch the anime and play the video games. But now recently during the start of this year, I have been seeing some videos of people buying and opening booster packs and just seeing those cool full arts and holographic cards is what slowly got me interested to buy Pokemon cards again, and oh my gosh I have been having lots of fun collecting them again! Sure I still didn’t know how to play the card game yet at the time but I still love to collect them. However though!!! Ever since Pokemon TCG pocket came out few days ago, it got to teach me how to play the game and it just made me love Pokemon cards more than ever! So not only I wanna keep collecting cards but I can now use them to make my own decks and play with my friends who also got into collecting cards this year too 😄
I've been enjoying Pokémon almost my entire life and started to get into the card game a couple of weeks ago, but it still keeps surprising me how little a couple of pro card he players know about the main game
I recently started playing about 2 weeks ago on TCG Live because I saw the last video. I don’t own any physical cards yet, but the game has been great fun! Keep it coming : )
As a newish player, seeing more sealed Pokémon content is always a treat! It’s so fun to see what kind of wacky decks come from a very limited card pool
As someone getting into the tcg, I love watching you guys build decks. It’s always easy to just copy someone’s deck but it’s way more fun to build your own!
i remember building decks out of ETBs in middle school with just to mess around then one of us managing to pull an SR/SSR and forgettting playing, just marveling in the beauty of a shiny card XD
I have always wanted a Pokémon tcg channel that does fun deckbuilding challenges like i have been seeing with yugioh for years. Although I do think that the Pokémon tcg is a bit more restricting as you can see in this video, but I am still super excited to see what fun ideas you guys will come up with in the future because these first 2 video’s are already amazing.
I've never really played the tcg competitively and these videos are a really nice way to get to know how everything works! I really like watching them so far
Having been interested in playing the TCG for a while (and still not yet pulling the trigger), it's fascinating to see people build some decks out of such limited cards. Definitely interesting to watch.
love these types of videos tbh, watching others build decks with such limited resources is so impressive and a great learning opportunity for new players (like myself)!
The progression series on the yugioh side was something I used to really enjoy watching and seeing something similar on the pokemon side is awesome to see. Keep up the great videos guys
You guys should definitely do more of this as a series, it’s very fun and helpful to see you make decks out of limited options. I’m learning how to play the tgc myself after collecting for a while.
I think it would be fun to see a Bo5 or even a Bo3 for these deck building challenges. I know the videos would be a bit longer but the variance in such a low power deck leads to a lot of just draw difference games, would be fun to get to see a bit more of each deck!
The students don’t look bad if you can aggressively dump 3 and recur the 4th a few times really early. It would basically be like VIP Pass ish… but more restrictions and harder to pull off consistently early but more useful throughout the game.
My 6 year old son wanted to play pokemon so we got a battle academy and to my surprise he took off on learning the game, and now after almost 24 years later I’m back in the game but instead of collecting I am now learning how to play! Nice video!
This is a really cool idea! It really showcases the practically of ETBs for newer players, and offers an interesting challenge for anyone trying it out for the first time.
I just want to take a moment and thank you both for the content you guys put out. On both of the channels and your own personal channels for the pokemon TCG.
Wow this is amazing. I really taught Azul would win based of the pulls. But Chip proved me wrong. That I could never tell there is a 27 energy cards of his deck
My friends and I made sealed decks for Sun Moon Guardians Rising with ETBs. I pulled a tapu lele gx and won our pod. We all went in on another etb as the prizing. Ton of fun!
In some way, it reminds me of when we were little and our parents would buy us cards and ask us to share them. So you'd have to share the content of a few packs with your other sibling(s) and play the game like that.
Was awesome to see you try and make do with what was at hand! Would have loved to see a full BO3, maybe Azul could have gotten the Gardy off. Amazing video though keep the interesting concepts coming!
I personally love these videos from you guys because I’ve always collected but never played and want to get in there but don’t know how and don’t want to buy individual cards all the time.
Cool video, fun idea. I got into the card game last year with my 6yo and we've been having fun playing. Had this in my home feed the other day and caught your first video. Great editing to show the cards during the match.
my roommate and i just got into learning how to play and we managed to make decks out of shrouded fables etbs. now theyre not gonna win anything outside of kitchen table games but it was a fun intro into deck building for the tcg!
Been getting into the TCG with friends recently, you guys are so fun to watch! I know you make a podcast as well, but hopefully you keep making videos like this as well!
Sure it's been said a million times before but you guys are absolutely smashing it out with content. Such a fun concept and your chemistry is elite. Wish the game could have been more interesting but I'm still super excited for whatever comes next
I personally love Paldean Fates both for collector value and for playing. The shiny Pokemon hold alot of value, and the staple cards mentioned in the video are both VERY good reasons to buy the set.
I like how y'all are starting to record in the same spot and battle each other. It's really a cool series, outside of giving the community news about the competitive side of this game. Thank you both for making shows that are informative and fun. 🙏
It’s fun to think of whether these new cards from Paldean Fates will have any impact on the current standard format, and even more fun when they’re in a format within the set. 😂 I’m glad at least there are a ton of valuable reprints for the players like Iono, Nest Ball, and Ultra Ball. Keep up the great work, Azul and Chip! (^o^)
I hadn’t gotten an ETB in a while, but the last tike i did (for paldea evolved) i was really impressed with the quality of the sleeves (especially in comparison with the xy-era sleeves)
Seems like there is some confusion, but this video is NOT part of the Evolution Series! Episode 2 of the Evolution Series will be out sometime in February.
Please don't make us wait to long guys ☺️
I hope the series does indeed continue. Good job guys.
Very entertaining vid 😊
when is being released? Its march now
Is this still the timeline? It’s such a fun series!

Really enjoy videos like this showing how to build decks with limited cards that may usually not see much play.
Loving this series as a showcase of non-meta deck capabilities. Keep up the good work!
I was actually thinking on buying this ETB to start playing the game for the first time in 15+ years. Thank you for showing me the possibilities!
Excited for this series! You two have gotten me hooked to Pokémon TCG!
This is how I built my first deck for the game back in 2017. Still a fun way me and my friends celebrate a new set being released
18:27 The face of Azul when realize you've made a missplay are amazing
I have always wanted a Pokémon tcg channel that does fun deckbuilding challenges like i have been seeing with yugioh for years. Although I do think that the Pokémon tcg is a bit more restricting as you can see in this video, but I am still super excited to see what fun ideas you guys will come up with in the future because these first 2 video’s are already amazing.
the reprints in this set are just too good
I've never really played the tcg competitively and these videos are a really nice way to get to know how everything works! I really like watching them so far
Having been interested in playing the TCG for a while (and still not yet pulling the trigger), it's fascinating to see people build some decks out of such limited cards. Definitely interesting to watch.
This concept is so cool, I love how you have to keep your keep throughout the videos!
I love having more videos (any content, really) from the UE team. Thanks for another fun watch!
LOVE THIS SET so cool seeing some competitive cards and amazing collectable cards in the same set
love these types of videos tbh, watching others build decks with such limited resources is so impressive and a great learning opportunity for new players (like myself)!
Got into the TCG a few weeks ago because of my friends. The satisfaction and excitement of opening packs makes everything 2x more fun
This was super interesting to see. Thanks for trying this out guys!
The progression series on the yugioh side was something I used to really enjoy watching and seeing something similar on the pokemon side is awesome to see. Keep up the great videos guys

7:50 imagine pulling alakazam EX but the set dont have any of his evolution line it
My 6 year old son wanted to play pokemon so we got a battle academy and to my surprise he took off on learning the game, and now after almost 24 years later I’m back in the game but instead of collecting I am now learning how to play! Nice video!
This is a really cool idea! It really showcases the practically of ETBs for newer players, and offers an interesting challenge for anyone trying it out for the first time.
Content like this is so good for the hobby! I love that you’re showing how to enjoy the cards outside the meta.
I just want to take a moment and thank you both for the content you guys put out. On both of the channels and your own personal channels for the pokemon TCG.
I really enjoyed the first episode of TCG Evolutions. It seems like a really cool idea and I'm excited to see it continue!
I’m obsessed with these videos. I love the pack opening, the deck building, the non meta decks, can’t wait for more
Another great example of switching up normal Pokemon TCG content here, great job guys!
I genuinely love watching people play with the cards, and not just open them
Wow this is amazing. I really taught Azul would win based of the pulls. But Chip proved me wrong. That I could never tell there is a 27 energy cards of his deck
I just got into card collecting and playing TCG last week, I’m learning so much watching you guys
Can’t wait for the next booster box deck vid!!!
What chip and Azul are doing with the pod is incredible. Keep innovating and running the game
My friends and I made sealed decks for Sun Moon Guardians Rising with ETBs. I pulled a tapu lele gx and won our pod. We all went in on another etb as the prizing. Ton of fun!
Azul is such a focused competitive player. Full art cards don’t impress him if the text isn’t doing work 😂
Loving theses videos with both of you together in person, please keep them up as its so cool to watch
If you do smaller pools of packs, its almost like you have to either make the decks 40 cards or you could spice it up with some mutant rules
This channel is quickly becoming one of my favorite Pokemon TCG channels, love this content
I personally love these videos from you guys because I’ve always collected but never played and want to get in there but don’t know how and don’t want to buy individual cards all the time.
These are hands down the best sleeves available, no competition (and 0 bias!)
Podcasters starting a video channel…my ears *and* my eyes thank you both!
Surprising how creative you can be in deck building with just an ETB. Paldean Student engine is LIT confirmed by Azul. 👀
Feels like one ETB was a little light for card pools without any precon skeletons.
Cool video, fun idea. I got into the card game last year with my 6yo and we've been having fun playing. Had this in my home feed the other day and caught your first video. Great editing to show the cards during the match.
This is such a cool idea and it’s nice to see Azul outside of a tournament!
Thank you for for the high quality videos. Been loving the podcast since it started and this is a nice extra.
Love this series! To see and learn from two different minds and being able to apply it to deck and make it work is absolutely fantastic!
The set is amazing, actually missed out on how many good reprints are in there.
Got myself an ETB and it treated me pretty well 🙏
My lgs did this but we also got 10 prize packs to build with. Someone was able to straight up build gardi. It was pretty fun
I am soooo glad I found this channel! You guys should get a million subs for this content.
my roommate and i just got into learning how to play and we managed to make decks out of shrouded fables etbs. now theyre not gonna win anything outside of kitchen table games but it was a fun intro into deck building for the tcg!
Can't believe this is only your second video. This channel is gonna be awesome
Some great pulls, unfortunately not as great for making an ETB only deck 😅
These kinds of videos are the exact thing I have always wanted to watch. Excited for what you guys will do in the future.
I like the special sets being the own sort of one shots, looking forward to part 2 of evolution! It feels kinda like legacy board games
Been getting into the TCG with friends recently, you guys are so fun to watch! I know you make a podcast as well, but hopefully you keep making videos like this as well!
Tbh limited formats like this are a lot of fun, hope to see more pop up in regional events
Great video, hoping to see more of this series for some of the older sets sometime in the future!
Interesting seeing the builds from 1 box each battle it out
Sure it's been said a million times before but you guys are absolutely smashing it out with content. Such a fun concept and your chemistry is elite. Wish the game could have been more interesting but I'm still super excited for whatever comes next
Refreshing to see some creators that don't tear through the packs like feral animals.
This was so chaotic but so fun to watch, haha! I love the idea of this challenge - would be down for watching more like it! ✨️
I personally love Paldean Fates both for collector value and for playing. The shiny Pokemon hold alot of value, and the staple cards mentioned in the video are both VERY good reasons to buy the set.
Yall are absolutely KILLING IT with content ideas!!! Love it! Keep it up!
Loving the new content so far! It's a breath of fresh air from all the unboxings and Live showcases
Such a cool concept!
I like how y'all are starting to record in the same spot and battle each other. It's really a cool series, outside of giving the community news about the competitive side of this game. Thank you both for making shows that are informative and fun. 🙏
I love this idea really, a little expensive to do often, but Ive been wanting a way to do a “pre release” style competition
Great video and great set! I really want to try to complete the set
This is a cool concept, love the gateway into the TCG competitive side
I just started collecting to build a deck again and I’ve been finding videos like this very useful and fun to watch
i'm so exited for this set but I can't find it anywhere so i wold love one
Now imagine a whole LGS ETB tourney with this as the concept XD
This is such a cool idea for a video, see if you can actually make a deck worth anything gameplay-wise from the etb
Not knowing what shinies are called is so Azul 😂
It’s fun to think of whether these new cards from Paldean Fates will have any impact on the current standard format, and even more fun when they’re in a format within the set. 😂 I’m glad at least there are a ton of valuable reprints for the players like Iono, Nest Ball, and Ultra Ball. Keep up the great work, Azul and Chip! (^o^)
lol, Azul loved shuffling those Pokemon sleeves 16:15
Loved the vid! Really was hoping Azul could get the Gardevoir going but the triple Daschbun was crazy haha.
I hadn’t gotten an ETB in a while, but the last tike i did (for paldea evolved) i was really impressed with the quality of the sleeves (especially in comparison with the xy-era sleeves)
Got that one as well! It was on sale at GameStop for only 30 bucks. Worth it!
Love this idea, had a local event recently try this same idea 🤩
This is hilarious watching you guys make the most of a pile of jank 😂 Lot of fun to watch as always
I genuinely can't wait for the future card series cause every series release have an amazing art on each one
Absolutely killing it, guys, love to see the adaptations and content. Looking forward to more!
Chip going 2 for 2 in this style of series. Maybe Azul needs to commentate and let Chip play some regionals 😂
