As an over the road truck driver, I see all types of abandoned houses and small communities, I always wonder and try to imagine...when was the last time these folks were here..and what happened
I see a lot of those old buildings/homes driving between Calif & Texas. Kinda sad, kinda creepy. I’m amazed all the “leftovers” haven’t been picked over more
The last shed area with all of the barrels had a few that were labeled with the word “cupels”. Cupels are commonly used in gold mining to separate the gold from the lesser metals. You may have literally stumbled upon a gold mine. What a treasure trove! It’s so strange - the date on that cremation petition was dated June 24, 2013. That wasn’t that long ago but all of the equipment, cars, furniture and electronics seem decades older than that. I guess it makes sense if they were an elderly couple. I’m wondering if maybe the husband died and the woman was just too old to deal with all of the junk he left behind and she left. It seemed like he was really into tinkering and fixing up machinery and electronics. I would love to see another visit to this place. I feel like you’ve only scratched the surface! This is the kind of place I like to imagine what it was like in its prime. Makes you wonder what the story is behind leaving everything. Kind of sad to see the picture of the couple. This place was very interesting..
At the 27:08 part of the video you were in a room of barrels. One of the barrels had the word "CUPELS" written on it. That is a mining refinement term. cupels (plural noun) a shallow, porous container in which gold or silver can be refined or assayed by melting with a blast of hot air which oxidizes lead or other base metals. Cupellation is a refining process in metallurgy, where ores or alloyed metals are treated under very high temperatures and have controlled operations to separate noble metals, like gold and silver, from base metals like lead, copper, zinc, arsenic, antimony or bismuth, present in the ore. No doubt to me you were on a small scale mining operation.
There are things that are used or withdrawn that are indeed Toxic such as lead and Sulphur dioxide and arsenic. The lead oxide was skimmed off the surface of the hot mixture or absorbed into walls of the cupel (made of a special material - sometimes bone ash). The silver that remained at the bottom of the cupel was run-off and solidified into blocks. The byproduct contained in the remaining ash still had value and they would run it through a third oven to get the lead out since it had value as well. Not knowing how far along the stuff in those barrels was along when it closed down I cant tell you for sure how toxic. There are some very strong laws on this process and disposal of the left overs are supposed to be handled by regulation disposal process. If I had to guess the stuff in those barrels is very tame. But there are things that helped process the lead out that could still remain very toxic since processing lead has a cumulative effect. With all the orange tags on the trucks Im sure they BLM, EPA or some other Government agency has taken everything away that might be toxic but that's a guess on my part. I just do not think they would leave toxins unattended. You can bet that if it were really bad and abandoned they would close it off and make sure there was no leakage into ground water Or could make it into the air. Emma and her Dad have been doing this for several years so Im sure they take ever precaution necessary.

This is the coolest place you have come across. They had to be running a mine or something. Wonder if the family dispute was over who was getting the property or money because without a doubt they had cash, none of that equipment was cheap.
It's so fascinating to think of how long all this stuff has been laying around. Since all of this is in the desert, stuff like this can be preserved for decades with very minimal rot or damage, but the harsh winters and seasonal changes of the northern states would have reduced all this into a dilapidated rot pile.

Normal for construction crews, mining etc to put up nude pictures of females ..All places did this until the political correctness craze came in the mid 1990's...Before then,it was normal to find nude pictures of females in the lunch room/break rooms in mining sites/construction sites ..Out of town and even in town...I always forget most people lived in a controlled modern life, where their eyes were sheltered from pre 1990 life !! If you went into a mining/construction or even your neighborhood mechanics break rooms nude women pictures were on the walls, totally normal from 1950's -1990's..
I was thinking maybe the vehicles could be stolen? Someone trashed them on purpose almost all the glass in them was broken but in the houses it looked mostly intact. If destructive vandals had came up and smashed the vehicles glass I doubt they would spare the buildings. Made me wonder why.
Makes one wonder if all of the abandoned mine sites you two come across had mining claims on them and the land was being leased from the BLM. And were eventually shut down by MSHA for not meeting safety requirements. The back stories of all of your finds would be amazing to find out. “Let’s go EWU, LET’S GO!!” Great video! 👍
As of 2016, 84.9% of the state of Nevada is in fact owned by the federal government in which the BLM “manages”. Who in turn lease said land to Ranchers for grazing and Mines for mineral rights.
Got to wonder, especially with large sites like this, how you are sure they are; abandoned, safe, and legal to explore. It is cool to watch you explore. Not sure if you are just more; brave, foolish, or both. What ever, you have my respect and yeah, my admiration. Looks like the people who left might have had so ham radio chops. That does not look like a "look-out tower, looks like an antenna tower.
It is sad to see something so useful, and evading from public view, to rot and be left behind. I can see people having a fun day, getting parts, taking some of those vehicles off the land and try to use them or sell them or crush them. All that stuff, is still useful. I do not see anything out of the ordinary. It must have been a small family, with a large wage, a few people did not know how to take care of the small business, or operate the machinery like a specific person in the family, for example,, that owned, worked, and loved that land, could. I would like to see another video of this, a live one! That would be nice!
Man i wish i lived in Nevada i would take a F250 Pickup and or the Dodge van if i could get either of them started ...i drive a 1993 Ford Taurus GL same altenator that comes off the 1992 to 1995 F150 Will work on my 1993 Ford Taurus as well

That "safe" is for protecting explosives. I used to work for a blasting company in Tennessee. When needing to leave explosives onna job site you place them in those and lock them.
Am I the only one that finds myself craning my head and moving my mouse to try to look around? Edit: On a side note, have you ever put your fingers down and tried to zoom in on an actual paper photograph?
Guys, I think that what you take it to be "old TV's" are actually old oscilloscopes (An oscilloscope is a laboratory instrument commonly used to display and analyze the waveform of electronic signals. In effect, the device draws a graph of the instantaneous signal voltage as a function of time.) what you first saw outside is both a radio/telecommunications antenna (notice the satellite dish). Which being an operation in the back of beyond, makes perfect sense. I'm still right at the start but I also think that maybe that half buried structure, used to be a solar panel array for the necessary (and obvious lack of) electric power...just a thought. Let's keep watching.
This is fascinating and so sad. That was a well looked after house at one point and whatever happened the occupants, they left all that stuff behind. Amazing how much stuff we accumulate over our lives and at the end of the day, its just stuff. We can't take it with us. Anyway, enough sadness: I could really see myself living in that little house with the big windows overlooking the top of the hill. x
Left? Maybe met an untimely end? Oops, just watched to end. Was somewhat correct I guess. So sad, seems like these folks were forgotten based on some of the personal items left behind.

I’m absolutely ADDICTED!! I love what y’all are doing and wish I could do this kind of stuff! Keep it up so I can love my dream through y’all lol!! Love the quality and the realistic, non dramatic responses you give. You don’t over do it! Y’all soups have a show!!
The brown buildings look like separated double wide trailers that were never put back together.
Thanks EWU Crew! Your friend Ody
Hey Ody, I replied to your messages here on TH-cam, I hope you got them bud.
Thank you very much Mr EWU. I dont seem to be getting many notifications about replies or new videos, Not just from you but others as well. Its the thought that counts. I am happy to see this one, it is one of your best, next to that creepy late night one a couple years ago. Thanks for everyhting my friends from EWU.
lookie, 21:55
Been watching your videos for about 12 sleepless hours. Fun stuff but my main takeaway is that desert dwellers amass an awful lot of junk!
If I had to guess I'd say the couple was living there trying to work a mine and after passing away the kids were fighting over who got what and then everything was left rather than one or the other kids getting anything. Sad.
Im a nurse..bust my butt all day..work 12+ hours every day. After my shift..going home exhausted I await ur escape..im going thru withdrawl. ??? U guys ok?
Sitting here having breakfast and watching 30 minutes of awesomeness
Really enjoy your videos I used to drive US 93 and the US 50 the 318 375 and the 6. And on a small scale I did what you guys are doing for almost 15 yrs as a trucker can you explore adaven next it's off the et highway 90 minutes North of Rachel nv or 10 minutes South of the 6 down the 375 anyway hit me up I got more areas you may not have explored thanks so much I miss those areas of Nevada
It felt like that someone was watching both of you two the entire time.
8:02 those are used assay crucibles for fire assaying ore (or smelting small amounts of concentrated ore)
Once again you surprise us with another amazing video... Absolutely loved it guys. Keep on with the amazing live streams and videos 👍🏼❤
Your taking me back to my grandparent's house in the funky 70's. Green painted walls, big-old console table, and a stately respectable portrait of modest people with subdued smiles. Amazing. (BTW - I'LL TAKE THOSE FORD PICKUPS JUST TO HELP WITH CKEAN-UP!)😜
Love the video, want more, would love to see live vids live but because of time difference have to watch them when they are over, its a shame but do understand can,t be live for everyone. Take care and looking forward to the return visit to this camp. Lyn - Wales UK
looks like a scrappers heaven
It's just me but have a bad feeling about this place
@@nocheteipsum Yes he did say that.
It didn’t give me bad feeling, I think it was a relaxing place.
28:39 that box is filled with lawn sprinkler parts I recognize some of the labels and I know for a fact that they are from the 2010’s.
LOL, I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that, Emma put that in there and didn't tell me, so it caught me by surprise too. 😂
As of 2016, 84.9% of the state of Nevada is in fact owned by the federal government in which the BLM “manages”. Who in turn lease said land to Ranchers for grazing and Mines for mineral rights.
@kathy young WTF you babbling about, throw that ice pipe down!
Play the tape recorder
You people are sick serial killers keep souvenirs, his. was recording the screams from his victims. And you people want to hear this.
That would be more interesting and clever
thought the same thing. i would be opening every cabinet and every drawer too
@@buckwild6552 The toy box killer?
It is sad to see something so useful, and evading from public view, to rot and be left behind.
I can see people having a fun day, getting parts, taking some of those vehicles off the land and try to use them or sell them or crush them.
All that stuff, is still useful.
I do not see anything out of the ordinary.
It must have been a small family, with a large wage, a few people did not know how to take care of the small business, or operate the machinery like a specific person in the family, for example,, that owned, worked, and loved that land, could.
I would like to see another video of this, a live one!
That would be nice!
Man i wish i lived in Nevada i would take a F250 Pickup and or the Dodge van if i could get either of them started ...i drive a 1993 Ford Taurus GL same altenator that comes off the 1992 to 1995 F150 Will work on my 1993 Ford Taurus as well
AWESOME! It's like a huge "time capsule"
Thanks for making the video!! Maybe next time you guys can try and find that secret door.
Waiting for something from "the hills have eyes" to pop out 😂 you guys are so brave!
I'd love to take that whole place over with everything that's still there dig a big hole for all the garbage clean the place up love to have all those old trucks and whatnot the play around with. With all that metal and spare parts around you could definitely build yourself some pretty cool desert buggies just seems to be a really neat place. Can't believe nobody has taken the place over.
Awesome explore tonight ewu crew! This place is an explorer's paradise, I wonder how long those notices have been up and I wonder if the son is still in prison. Definitely need to go back to this place again and explore even deeper and maybe find out more info on it. Thanks for all you guy's do for us, stay safe and keep exploring, love you guy's!
I came across this channel like 14 videos ago, shit I'm binge watching this channel.
Awesome find guys, creepy, sad, yet an explorers paradise 👍 gotta love it
8
juventusalways what is 8 supposed to mean?
My mistake.
That fire pit was where they burned the dead bodies. That place was hella creepy. 😨
Excellent find and video. Lots of cool stuff left behind. That old washing machine is nice. Would be nice to see another video. I could spend all day there looking around. Take care.
Creepy but serene and tells a story....thank you for sharing it with us.
This place looks great and not too damage beside weather damage ☺
That "safe" is for protecting explosives. I used to work for a blasting company in Tennessee. When needing to leave explosives onna job site you place them in those and lock them.
Wow that place looks amazing, they left so much stuff behind. Looked like something from The Walking Dead.
I feel so sad for the people who own this property. It was a nice set-up good fine guys.
First of all you're right it is creepy how long you think they were living there before 2001?
Am I the only one that finds myself craning my head and moving my mouse to try to look around?
Edit: On a side note, have you ever put your fingers down and tried to zoom in on an actual paper photograph?
Soooooooo many times I have done that! 😆
Yes
I constantly move my head around my phone to look in different places!🤣😂
EWU !!!!!.. ........hadn't heard from you guys in a few days...since the last live stream cut out....I was worried a little.....glad everythings ok.
Anyway, enough sadness: I could really see myself living in that little house with the big windows overlooking the top of the hill. x
Man im loving yalls videos. Lol I have been watching legit all day. I love going to places like this but cant so im glad i can explore with yall!
Left? Maybe met an untimely end? Oops, just watched to end. Was somewhat correct I guess. So sad, seems like these folks were forgotten based on some of the personal items left behind.
