I have played this piece for over 15 years as my daily warmup before going into other stuff. Since the melody is basically carried by the pinky of right hand, and the middle voice is executed by the rest of 4 fingers of the same hand, it's a great warm-up piece for right hand finger independence. I do like how Horowitz, Zimerman, Lupu, etc voiced this piece to give it an ethereal touch from heaven -- tenderness of the deepest love declaration possible. But Olga's playing is also refreshing, adding much vitality and youthfulness to what possibly Schubert would have liked but was perhaps not aware of. Schubert died in 1828 at age 31, as a star that never ceases to shine. He lives on in millions' hearts.

This entire piece was the intro to a cassette tape of a children's story called the enchanted horse that I had when I was little. I was just as enchanted by the music as I was the story, and I've been searching for the name of it for years. I finally found it, and it's even more wonderful than I remember. Thank you ❤

I’ve played it when I was 15, I forgot the name but could forget the music, the feeling. So I’ve been searching for the name for years too:) It almost makes me cry to write this:)

This Impromptu is one of the most beautiful pieces of piano music ever written. Listening to such a beautiful interpretation so full of sentiment is just wonderful. It seems as if her fingers were just floating over the keyboard, barely touching it.

Horowitz takes the no.3 too slowly for my likingm though he gets his own way finally by the sheer magic of his touch, Olga ,for me was ok full stop.I grew up with the Schabel version, and it remains utterly supreme for me. Incidentally Iussd to use the piece as a relaxant before captaining the cricket side .. just spread on the sofa and switch on. Beat the pants off valium.. For months I tried to find the meaning or word thi s said to me.. I knew there was something, and it eventually came ... resignation . In the sense of acceptance .Of what? No idea.. but thats the word. MW.

I used to play this myself (long ago, and nowhere near this level) and I always imagined Schubert composing this as he was walking along a small stream.
That's exactly what I hear in this performance: the small stream gently rolling along ... so, thank you for that!

  • @alexandergroot8367

It is definitely not too fast. It is very well played !! Horowitz made it his own interpretation which is outstanding but on it's own... Olga plays it the right way. Most excellent.

I thought she played this beautifully! I loved the way she balanced the melody against the inner voices in the right hand and appreciated the way she executed the melodies in the left with conviction and clarity. I loved everything about this performance.

breathtaking. I can't believe so many people feel compelled to criticize and express their childish / jealous egos for all to see. it only reveals that you lack modesty and haven't the capacity to appreciate a genuine expression of beauty from another soul

The majority of the comments here are actually extremely positive, which is what I would expect. I think it's a beautiful interpretation and I find it odd that two of the top comments are focussed on putting down the critics when there really aren't that many. Not everyone would agree with me, but I really I really wish people wouldn't lash out at critics (unless they are incredibly rude or insulting). For starters, when the top comments are focussed on highlighting the naysayers, it gives the impression that the overall reception of this performance was a negative one, which is far from true. Also, music and art are extremely subjective and how we respond to it is very personal. In other words, if someone dislikes the work of a very talented and popular artist, singer, or musician or dancer, it doesn't automatically make that person a jealous hater with low self-esteem. We can't presume to know anything about that person. I'm sure we've all criticized You tube videos that others find amazing.

This masterpiece is one of my favorite classic piano creation, when I play or hear it, it gives me an emotional feeling of life power, something divine which we cannot get it, sublime with a combination of harmonic arpeggios and dissonance (chromatic transitions), it feels both sadness and hopefulness like Schubert wanted to convey the soundtrack of his life in one piece...

  • @jlglex99
    @jlglex99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

I feel like there is a message about life in this music. Life can be wonderfully beautiful, but at the same time there is a deep sadness in knowing that it ends.
I feel like this piece captures both the beauty and wonder of life but also the profound sadness in knowing that it does not last forever.
Olga expresses both the beauty and the sadness so well.

One of the most delicate and beautiful renderings of this piece i have heard in a very very long time.
As a professional musician, I have played this piece numerous times and with the No4, still remains one of Shubert's best. Olga has the gift and "feel" to wonderfully emphasize the main theme with the last 3 fingers of the Right Hand. I have heard most of the older masters, Rubenstein, Horowitz, Lang Lang and others play this , but Olga has acquired the knack of bringing Schubert to life in this piece. Well done Olga.

I've known this for years without knowing what it was. It was used as the intro/outro music of one of my childhood audiobooks, The Enchanted Horse... Always loved how bittersweet it sounded, even when I was little.

My favorite rendition if the Impromptu no. 3, its the same way I play it, quick lower right hand fingers that keep it moving and flowing the whole time, beautiful.

For most of my life Arthur Schnabel's performance was the definitive one for me, but Schnabel never made my cry with its sheer exquisite beauty as this lady, her touch was limpid. I attended a recital the concluding work was the final sonata of Beethoven for which the audience were rapturous and clapped to cajole her to give an encore, after eight curtain calls she said ,To play an encore after this sonata is like serving a Wimpy with a vintage wine. A man in the audience said 'Come on love, Schubert's Impromptu opus 90 no 3 in G flat . She smiled and said 'Yes! lets give it a whirl.
