  • Welcome to Namibia! And welcome to part 3 of an incredible road trip through one of the least populated countries in the world. This country about 1,5 time the size of France mainly consists of desert landscape. In the previous two episodes we traveled along the coast of South Africa from Cape Town, to visit the first highlight of the country and the absolute number one sight: the Sossusvlei. After that we drove through no man's land to the industrial port city of Walvis Bay. We spotted flamingoes crossing the dunes in the endless desert and visited pink salt lakes.
In this episode we continue the drive along the coast to another tourist hot spot on the ocean shore. The town of Swakopmund is the most beautiful preserved colonial town, with a lot of German influences. The architecture is outstanding, but Swakopmund has more to offer. It's the beating heart of Namibian culture. We also visit the National Marine Aquarium, some shipwrecks on the so called Skeleton Coast and thousands of seals at Cape Cross. Up next will be Etosha National Park for some safari drives.
Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines. Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Follow us on this world tour, first in Tanzania, from Zanzibar to the safari parks on the mainland and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! We still travel non-stop all year and film everything, with a new episode every week. Also take a look at instagram @woutoftheworld or www.woutoftheworld.nl

I would like to visit. I'm in Canada. This country of Canada used to be nice, cold but nice, until the politicians and W.E.F. and U.N. got hold of it. Now Canada is becoming a totalitarian country. I need to get away for a while to somewhere more normal. Mr Sunshine Baby channel describes Canada's sad condition better than I can.
Keep Namibia beautiful, true and free. 🎉😊

The areas of German South West Africa (now Namibia) were formally colonized by Germany between 1884-90. The semiarid territory was more than twice as large as Germany, yet it had only a fraction of the population-approximately 250,000 people.

👍Swakopmund has about 20,000 German descendants living there including Germans emigrating from Europe. However, both Dutch and German descendants live in Swakopmund but Walvis Bay is predominantly Dutch descendants coz Walvis Bay was a Dutch enclave in 1700 before the British South Africa bought the enclave from them as a result of which Walvis Bay was annexed as part of Western Cape. Population size of Germans is estimated at 40,000 in 2022 whole Namibia. Dutch descendants(afrikaans) are about 250,000 in 2022.

I am sure you won't tell me any because there is none. However despite our differences we made peace with those who made Namibia their home and everyday we are working towards the wellbeing of all citizens of this beautiful land we call our home.

    German
Early in the 20th Century Namibia was a German Colony. After the 1st World War it became a League of Nations administered territory. Following the 2nd World War, South Africa administered Namibia, until independence in 1990.

This town is not owned my Namibians but the Germans. This town is known for the m@ssacre the Germans did to the indigenous during the occupation in early 1900 . They had a concentration camp in which they killed thousands of namibians. Today citizens are doing all they can to get this town back .
