Really nice and informative videos man! Madagascar is a really beautiful country with its cultures, biodiversity, amazing beach, food and so on. There are so many things that you can see beautiful here. Sadly it's one of the fastest country to go downhill these few years because the government are doing some crazy things to the country and the people. But anyway, Everything this country can offer could be more better with well and nice management!
There was some good information in this video. 13:34 was very strange tho, as you said: "When the geography of one region changes....". Nothing in the geography of either the Caribbean or Madagascar changed noticeably in the time frame referred to.
The answer is simple. The climate and terrain on the eastern part of madagascar is essentially better for growing crops as compared to the wester side. Its more humid and has an abundant amount of water ways perfect for farms. The western land is super dry, and is way hotter, making it unsuitable for growing plants. If you travel in wesrern madagascar, you can see there arent much trees or much of anything growing. Its just barren lands. This is also the reason why most of the wildlife reside on the eastern regions of the country, with the biggest national park being on the eastern coast.
They can try though, although they may not be admitted as a member but if they can gain an observer status in a summit could establish connections to some ASEAN member.
I guess the only other group that could have plausibly came earlier were South Indian seafarers, who had the technology for it and had already sailed south to modern-day northern Mozambique on the East African coast. I guess it was just luck. Austronesians engaged in seafaring and settled in many coastal areas of the Indian Ocean. Bantu agriculturalists could not reach there until later due to migrating from very far by foot over difficult terrain. Asking why nearby hunter-gatherers on the mainland did not settle it originally is not really a question worth asking IMO (especially since it is not visible across the, it just didn't happen I guess.
Since the eastern part of Madagascar is a bit hot and dry, it's better to live in the east than in the west (climate conditions). And economically speaking, it's in the central and eastern parts of the country that Madagascar's economic cities are located. I really appreciate the way you shared many interesting informations... Well done

Madagascar's Eastern coast is exactly like Indias Western coast. lush green rain forests and narrow low lands . Madagascars western highlands are like Peninsular Indias Eastern dry places - No wonder Madagascar and India were together 60 millions years ago .
it is very confusing. Some Africans say that we are not part of Africa... But you do not know that we have 18 ethnicities: different languages (but can understand each other even only 50%), hair types (freezy, kinky, straight...), skin colours, and diverse cultures that reflect influences from African, European, and Asian traditions... Madagascar is centrally located in the world, serving as a significant hub for ships from America, Europe (including missionaries and arms trade), Africa, and Asia. Some of those sailors stayed and moved here. This historical crossroads has led to a diverse population, making it challenging to trace our origins. But one of the amazing things is that we are not confused between us, If we encounter a Malagasy person abroad, we will instantly recognize each other😆😅😍🥰
I wouldn't say they are different languages. They are definitely dialects by definition. Exact same grammar, mutually intelligible, etc... Quebec French is way more different to French than Malagasy is to any of its dialects. Yet they are still the same language. It's even worse for different dialects of Spanish or Arabic. Many of them can barely understand each other yet it's still all called the same language.

It is not that empty. Its density is 26 people per square kilometer or 67 people per square mile. That is similar to Brazil. Sparsely populated but not very empty. Still overpopulated.
- The austronesians came to Madagascar from the east. - They haven''t find place in the coasts, so they entered in the highlands. - Then they realized that the coasts are important for trading with foreigners, so they made war against the other malagasy people. The fake historians argued that Andrianampoinimerina made war for unification of the island. False ! Andrianampoinimerina himself said : Ny ranomasina no valam-parihiKO ! -KO ! -KO !
I believe some reached and traded with Swahili Coast kingdoms too, although the number might be very small and quickly absorbed by the wider Black-Arab society.
And unfortunately the poorest and most economically unstable as well. Sad, given how well off the island is, resource wise and climatically wise as well.
@@jasonhaven7170 It shows that the initial African arrivals were mostly males, probably workers and not for peopling purpose. There are SO many problems with this video. Let's start with pronunciation of the ethnic groups as well as Malagasy words. then there is the "confirmation" that the first Malagasy were from SE Asia. It is now assumed that the first people were the MIKEA, an offshoot of the larger population of Makoa, who are from MOZAMBIQUE. To say that Africans did not have the means to travel to Madagascar is rather ridiculous! There were contacts from KENYA, TANZANIA (incl. Zanzibar). The Africans DID have contacts with the northern and western parts of the Island. As well, there ARE outrigger canoes on the East African coast, as well as other forms (ex. dhows) of boats. It is also known that there was a small colony from INDIA around the 13th or 14th century in the northern part of the Island. There's a a lot more to know about this wonderfully beautiful Island, Geoff, aside from its Indo-Pacific origins. It's an old generic term referring to people with a certain phenotype that live in the Nusantarian region. But Malaysia decided to use that term to name a state and then creating a confusion.
It's as if an African state was named "Africa" so the inhabitants are called "Africans" and then creating a confusion between the people of the continent and the citizens of a country.
It's from the same racist pseudoscience that erroneously called white people "caucasian" and used words that would be considered downright offensive for certain other groups. It's not based in reality, it's just what some dudes dreamed up

Whenever I saw the ship icon in this video, I just uncontrollably said "Hello ladies"
Keep up the great work!
Simple reason why: the East Coast has a Wet and Mild Climate which allows good Vegetation. The West Coast is dry and hot, almost like a desert.
Madagascar should join ASEAN economic group, free trade no tariffs and many benefit between their members😏
They’re African asean countries wouldn’t do that. That would also change Madagascars culture toward Asian culture which is a no buano

Insane that the first on Madagascar were Austronesians
The population shocked me !!
Nice Video ⭐️
Since the eastern part of Madagascar is a bit hot and dry, it's better to live in the east than in the west (climate conditions).
And economically speaking, it's in the central and eastern parts of the country that Madagascar's economic cities are located.

I've spent a lot of time in Madagascar - probably around 6 months total spread out over ten trips. Everything about it "Mad" is freaky unique including 90% endemic flora and fauna. It's a biodiversity paradise that is quickly disappearing due to radical deforestation. And good luck trying to pronounce their names, cities and regions. this video could easily have been half as long. tell your script writer to edit out info that's repeated throughout, thanks.
it is very confusing.
Madagascar is an continent island by itself
Exactly what I've always thought

It is not that empty. Its density is 26 people per square kilometer or 67 people per square mile. That is similar to Brazil. Sparsely populated but not very empty. Still overpopulated.
It's neither sparsely or overpopulated at all. They are just in a mid range
-KO ! -KO !
Basically, this island is the farthest west Austronesians can reach.
I believe some reached and traded with Swahili Coast kingdoms too, although the number might be very small and quickly absorbed by the wider Black-Arab society.
And unfortunately the poorest and most economically unstable as well. Sad, given how well off the island is, resource wise and climatically wise as well.

The Austronesians in Madagascar are of majority African ancestry in their paternal lines

(from an older, retired educator/writer who traveled to Madagascar and learned how to sing and dance in its various forms)
