    These tutorials are so good and really help out in the non-airbrush space. Plus just enough detail such as decals, edge highlighting and weathering to keep something to strive for without overwhelming with golden demon standard.
    Personally, I’d love to see your flavour in going a bit further with weathering

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you. I always feel miniature painting kind of has skill layers. which helps because you can build on what you've done already without having to completely change your approach.
      I have a weathering tutorial on my wish list, it will probably be along a tutorial painting the Dorn tank.

      to be honest, its easy to get lazy and just use 1 tone all over, but when your looking at your miniature from different angles, those different silvers are realy noticable which makes an impact. really worth doing

    I really like your videos. Great pace. Very good explaining each step and why it's done. Your results are outstanding but seem achievable with enough patience. Love your enthusiasm for the hobby as well.
    Question for you - do you ever use contrast paints (e.g. ultramarine) over the basecoat in lieu of these washes? I've seen some YTers warning against contrast paints on these bigger models but I'm not sure why. Too blotchy?
    One constructive critism is to reduce the number of paints you use. You have 32 paints listed. I can't believe you couldn't have the same result using half as many paints. That's like $150 in paints for a ~ $60 model ($35 if you got it with Leviathan). Sure you have the paint in your arsenal after that, but holy schmoley.

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the content and I do love the hobby and making these videos :)
      I love contrast paints and I use them all the time for my own miniatures outside of the tutorials. You can use contrast paints in place of washes, what makes them different from a shade is that they have very strong pigments which means they're not very subtle and will absolutely over power what you use them over. Contrast paints also dry much faster than a shade as well which makes them trickier to work with, especially on those larger models
      The goal of my tutorials is to show people what's possible and I always aim to replicate box standards. Of Course you can paint miniatures with fewer paints and that's completely up to the individual and you can mix the paints. For me mixing paints is inconsistent and it's a lot more straightforward to teach someone how to paint with a colour that exists. If I use less paints I compromise the quality. Also the focus for my videos is more about the techniques and skills needed, not the paints.

    Hey, can you make a short video we’re you show exactly how you achieve these flat panels without any brushmarks? Been struggling with this any hope to improve with some more information.
    Or do you have brushmarks as well and it’s just hard to see through the camera?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Everything I do I say in the video. Multiple thin layers 😊 it’s never going to be perfect. You may actually find your not doing enough layers as the transparency can look like brush marks. I tend to do about 4 layers.

    • @DerSchoeneJan666
      @DerSchoeneJan666 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Okay. I looked at it after the second coat and compared it to an airbrushed finished model since the video makes it look like the finish on yours look compareable to an airbrush finish and mine differs from this. I’ll try putting on a third coat. Thanks for answering!

    Love the thing you're doing, making complex sounding techniques approachable. A lot of these more advanced methods aren't hard, you just need to go for it and see where it takes you.
    Fun thing: everything here can be used on any model, regardless of scale. Glazing for example is used a lot by GW's 'Eavy Metal team to make their space marines appear more dynamic. They call it a soft shade more often than not. Now I wouldn't go and do it on every single Intercessor, but it's a great way to take a character that extra mile.

      @@TableTopReadyTH-cam a glazing tutorial would be great!! :) I just always see everyone throw washes on and they seem to just..idk work lol. but, my minis always come out...sloppy i guess. I have thought about trying dip.

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว

      When it comes to washes, we still need to have some control over them. We don't want to saturate the miniature, only use enough to cover where you need the wash. Whilst it's dryng, you need to keep checking and removing excess paint where its pooling up too much. I don't recomend dipping, thats for people who just want to get stuff painting fast and on the table. If you want tp improve, we always want to approach painting intentially with effort. I tend to only use washes for metalics mostly and my prefered way to create defintion is recess shading which is using a shade or painting a darker colour directly into thos recesses and areas. It's a lot neater and less work in the long run

      a recess shade s applied directly into the recesses and a shade is applked over the entire area. Looking absolutely amazing! ❤ With a model looking like that takes “weeks to do”🤯with all those highlights how long in hours did you take realistically? Because all TH-cam videos are made with edits we get the illusion of getting things looking like that in short time.😅

      Thank you. So when I'm painting a miniature for a tutorial, I tend to paint for about 8 hours a day :P and this probably took about 6 days. Half of that time is just highlighting the blue Armour ha so it does take time.

      If you want to paint an imperial fist dreadnought, then all you need to do is combine this tutorial and the imperial fist tutorial :D

    What colour would you use for a glaze with kantor blue as the base colour?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว

      a kantor base is just a shift into darker tones, so I would do Nightlords first and then abaddon black. if you didn't want to go so dark, you could do a mix of nightlords and abaddon black
