How did your gear get wet? 🤔 what a start haha. Unfortunately it wasn't me on the Dr! Looked awesome scenery bet there is alot of off road in that area to! How did you find the bike apart from the buffeting issue? 360 cam looked good got some cool angles. How were those butler maps? Very useful? Look forward to the next part
Thanks Dan ;-). There was a ‘huge’ downpour in AKL before the flight - which the flight also had to wait for. I think my bag of bike gear must have been sitting out in it. There is so much gravel and off road to explore all over the different areas. Your DR would be perfect for all. The bike was awesome in every respect apart from the buffeting. The Ultra model has a much taller screen. Butler maps were good for selecting scenic roads - but I used them a lot less than I thought. It was a hassle not having California - as Death Valley sneaks into there. But I’d already bought three, for Nevada, Arizona and Utah. If the weather was better It’d also have been good to have New Mexico - but again, there’s a limit to how many maps and $.
Greetings Maccas! Yep, my ST set up would have been perfect - especially the tall screen and tyres. But I did really enjoy the Road Glide. With a taller screen it’d have been almost perfect for the job. The seat was unbelievably comfortable. It was also cool rolling in to a remote gas station on something American. My insurance was clear on sealed roads. Next time, I may try and see what I can do on that detail.
@@motogusnz you back home safe and sound ? When you get around to it could you send me some fuel figures from your Super Ten Im close to having a look at getting a new one and chasing some massive miles
@@maccas44 Yep, back now thanks. TBH, I haven’t totally got to the bottom of the ST fuel range. Marty and Glenn can get close to 400kms out of theirs. The biggest distance I’ve done is circa 330, and riding in touring mode and very economically. The boxes and bags also make a difference, as would the screen extension etc. To be safe on a TT or LD ride I’d normally be looking for gas at 275 when fully loaded.
@@motogusnz thanks Gus. I think I might treat myself and get a big GS. I did 1448 in 2 days ob the FJR a week ago bike performed faultlessly but just want the option of head down the dirt or gravel with big fuel range
Awesome Vid Gallum. Great scenery. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks Buddy. I’m working on it ;-)
Subscribed! Great job!
Thank you, Chuck!

@@maccas44 Nice. The GS’ are super machines. The latest I rode was probably a 19 (in Spain) but beautiful. The new 1250s would be epic.
