This was great! Unreactable offense being essential to fighting games is something I've been hearing alot lately.

I saw one a lot of videos got privatized and I dont know why. One of my favorite videos to go look back on was 3 ways to win neutral. I shared that video to a lot of friends and use that as reference.

    Street Fighter: "That was *Outstanding*."
Tekken: "You have an *Outstanding* arrest warrant."
Smash: "ThE sCaReCrOw WaS *oUt StAnDiNg* In HiS fIeLd."
    Me: I see no difference.

I getup attack into Ganon forward smash all the time when I underestimate how high my jump goes. Not expecting my jump to grab ledge, I buffer up b, which on the ledge is getup attack...

I think what we call fighting games is very much down to personal definitions.
Everyone's definition might be different and that's ok.
Some may say that smash isn't a fighting game some may say otherwise.
More and more titles pop up around the boundaries making it harder and harder to define.
Platform fighers are becoming more popular, and who knows...
maybe one day someone will create something like Fighting Game X MOBA, will it be called fighting game or something else?
Even if smash isn't a fighting game, I think for sure we can call it a platform-fighter.
The real reason I think people don't like calling smash a fighting game is the split between smash community and the fighting games community.
I'd imagine the splits exists due to different audiences of initial product (Smash community members are much younger on average)
Also organizing events for both communities is a bit difficult, since smash games / sets usually take much longer and controllers are much diffirent too...
That might not seem like much, but being able to play basically all fighting games on arcade sticks (which is the go-to for many) and not being able to use that in smash (unless you get smashbox or something, which costs a lot) makes it harder to cross over to smash from other fighting games ( I really believe its easier the other way)
If you're in fgc and want to try something else, you got so many titles to choose from without any need to get a new controller (or even console)
Fortunately the communities merge more and more (I think)
    TL;DR:
    it's down to personal definitions
and split between smash and fgc is important in this topic
