Yeah, that is about the only thing I effing hate about the Fryette Power Station --- advertised to 'sit on any amp' and not sitting on any amp I have, but that is only 16 of them, and one of them is a Fryette. Something terribly wrong with the chairs in the Fryette household...
Sounds really good. Have been looking at getting one of these but was wanting to use it with a 100 watt Super Lead which can crank out upwards of 150 watts, was hoping they would make a higher rated version. Any suggestions?
I would love for you guys to try out the Fryette Power Station PS-100. Compare it to the others and do a shootout. I have one and I run it with my Matchless HC-30 with matching 2-12” cabinet. It sounds amazing at all volume levels. This red seven EVO sounds awesome as well! Cheers 🎉
@@TheStudioRats I own the Fryette PS + Load IR which is pretty much the ultimate target for attenuation devices; literally no discolouration at all. However, these things are mega-bucks!! Seems to me like this Central Evo achieves the same with a single device and is heaps more cost effective. Awesome. Cheers, from DownUnder.
What does that even mean? Volume is a logarithmic scale, you'd give the reduction in decibels and not a ratio. If it's output power, this would be a meager 3dB reduction which also seems ridiculous.
good question! While MK1 version didn't have an on board attenuator, lots of customers asked for, along with a dimension reduction, in a future revision. We managed to get both in MK2 (Evo). A fully scaled attenuator should have taken double the size of current box and also a street price increase of roughly of +40%. Since main thing of AC Evo is not the attenuation bit but load/IR section, after many trials we found that to be the perfect spot to enjoy a real cab even in a bedroom environment or stages where not much volume is needed.
Nice, but too limited as an attenuator (actually even less capable than a Two Notes Captor X or the OX)... Sticking with the Fryette PowerStation - accepts up to 200 Watts input and can output anything from 0 to 100 Watts. Ok, no IR loading on board, but I already have at least 5 other devices plus several computers that can do that.
I was having fan noise issues with a Torpedo Captor X load box... I heard it even when playing with head phones which was very irritating. Is there a fan in this device that is noticeable?
@ That’s unfortunate. The tones from this box seem like a step down compared to your other videos - but maybe you don’t use the OX Box very often? Anyway, an in-depth comparison would have been great.
I’m looking forward to the first toneX captures using the addition of the power amp sim from this unit.
The Valiant into the Amplified Nation is one of the best tone I’ve ever heard. Thanks for another great post.
Anytime
Finally someone put some tall feet on a box so it can fit over the handle! Tiny detail, but really handy.
Yeah!

thanks for noticed this
What a nice bit of kit and a great demo! Thanks Paul!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow!! I loved that "Hendrix-like" BLAST in the intro!! Yikes!! So good!!
Nice SRV Paul. He’s the reason like many of us picked up electric after I picked my jaw up off the floor. Cheers. 🎸
He was the man!
I had a Two Rock SP35 paired with a Waza TAE and it sounded fantastic but less alive like you were saying. This setup sounds more alive.
So good!
Cracking tone tfs best wishes from Shrewsbury 👍. Phil
Cheers Phil
Killer!
Love the content Paul.
Cheers Clem
Killer tone 👍
Cheers
@@TheStudioRats are you using an overdrive or distortion pedal? or is that just he amp?
That’s the amp apart from one example
@@TheStudioRats what pedal on intro? thanks
Great machine , and great video Paul ,as always! Do you think you could do a review of Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander one day too?
Sounds really good. Have been looking at getting one of these but was wanting to use it with a 100 watt Super Lead which can crank out upwards of 150 watts, was hoping they would make a higher rated version. Any suggestions?
Oooow Paul bit of SRV eh I’ve not watched the post yet but fuck me that intro was killer 👌👌👌you are a high quality player my friend 👍
Cheers Judd
this is great unit ...!!! Im goingt obuy it..
Hey Paul, great video. Definitely wanna grab one of these, where would one get one of these in the UK? Cheers mate 🙏🏼
Interesting and maybe slightly worrying that it sounded better with the amp simulation on
I genuinely thought that was stevie ray vaughan playing in the intro 😂
Dose this unit only have an 8ohm out ? Is there a 16ohm version ?
All my cabs are 16 ohms hence the question
That green guitar is hawt - what is it if I may ask?
@@gashed8377 it’s a valiant, there’s a vid a few days sgo
Sorry for asking what string gauge and brand do you use? Great video!
I’ve just started using string joy 10-46
@ thx! I’ll give them a try
I would love for you guys to try out the Fryette Power Station

I’d like to check it out too.

I use an Ox Box for recording, but since its attenuator SUCKS, I have a Tone King Ironman to use for attenuation into a cab.
What fret wire is on the strat in the beginning?
Not sure but it’s a ancho Pablano Strat and they all have these massive frets.
6100 - Jumbo
Will this work on a combo amp like a Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special 1x12, or is it just possible on heads?
Combo’s as well
Would this be beneficial to use with the Boss Katana 100 MKII
Yes, you can load 2 irs I think it’ll be great.
only 50% volume attenuator ? ... why not more choices ?
$
I’m not sure, although I’m sure there’s a reason.

I really dig this load box! Did you try it out at with a real speaker at the 50% attenuation?
good question! While MK1 version didn't have an on board attenuator, lots of customers asked for, along with a dimension reduction, in a future revision.

Nice, I guess? Most of us don’t have all of that lol
It's a humdinger with a lot of zing.
I was having fan noise issues with a Torpedo Captor X load box... I heard it even when playing with head phones which was very irritating. Is there a fan in this device that is noticeable?
no fan this time!
And where do you buy one from the UK?
I think Guitar Guitar stock RED Seven in the UK.
Versatile box isn’t it. Think I’d prefer to go down that route than avoid an amp altogether playing live.
Certainly could do! Sounds great!
fizz sound
The direct out sounds awful. It might be a nice attenuator but it doesn’t hold a candle to the OX Box for recording.
I’ve sold my ox because of this.
@ That’s unfortunate. The tones from this box seem like a step down compared to your other videos - but maybe you don’t use the OX Box very often? Anyway, an in-depth comparison would have been great.
That intro sounds TERRIBLE! All kinds of terrible digital distortion!!
Man I think the ox box and fryette powerstation is absolutely king tubed power amazing!
