Yay for this! I love oldies. I'm not much of a marathon person, so I only adopt older dogs - sometimes, they suprise me with how active they are once they get their medical needs looked after. A 17 year old Labrador that believes he's a puppy is a hilarious and heartwarming sight. My oldest oldie I've ever had, who started this oldie obsession, didn't believe in running at all - it took all specialist vets in my country telling me his joints and nerves are all fine, he's just a lover, not a jogger. I'm pretty sure throughout our 10 years together (I adopted him when he was 10-14) I convinced him he's a superstar because he always chose the biggest human gathering in the park to plop himself in the middle of. Bonus points for children and food. He once somehow found a live drawing class (and the park is a big, big ex soviet kind of park) and became immortalised in art. I miss them all so much. They were all so worth it. Thank you for your generous donation. We need more people to recognise how amazing seniors are - perfect for the..um, lazier part of society, but not only!
Our childhood dog had to get an emergency spay because the uterus was getting infected. She survived luckily. And while doing an internship with a vet we had a dog come by that had mamory gland tumor I believe. We had to remove all of her mamory glands and let me tell you that operation is way more intense and tougher to recover from then a normal spay.
I just lost my senior Dane. My ex did not want to spay her, and I wish I had anyway. When she was 7 she started started developing all sorts of hormone related issues, including a pyometra and a mammary tumor. Because of a heart condition, she was not a surgical candidate, so we had to treat the pyometra with a whole gamut of antibiotics and, quite frankly, just pray about the tumor, because it was too dense to be properly biopsied without putting her under. She lived to be about 8 and a half, and the pyometra never fully went away.
That is so true!! And pyro - infected uterus can be deadly by the time you realise something is wrong with your cat /dog and take her to the vet the infection is usually so severe an advanced that the uterus is in danger of rupturing and filling the abdomen with putrid puss and infected material that almost instantly kills the cat /dog due to toxic shock!!! So take this seriously and get your cat/dog spayed!!!
Similar story here. My dog developed pyometra around age 11 and her surgery was $6000. She also had a benign tumour on one of her mammary glands that I had removed at the same time. I wish I knew about all of this, and especially how common it is - not just that it’s a slight risk. I never bothered having her spayed when she was young because she had never really liked other dogs and would never let another dog get near her, nevermind mount. It was a hard lesson to learn, and I felt awful my dog had to go through that.
I lost a German Shepherd to breast cancer. I had her spayed at a year old. It wasn't located right on the breast. It was off to the side a bit. Man i loved that girl. It was tough 💔
I like to think that the dogs have coordinated their behavioural strategy in order to prove their owner wrong. "They say I'm the bad one, so I'm gonna be a good boy. You need to do the screams and the dancing, okay?" "Yeah, they won't see it coming"
Could be the one who acts bad knows they can act out because it's their owner. They feel more comfortable to do so because they learn they can push their limits and how much. With a stranger, the smarter ones usually know to behave or default to it as a way to get an uncomfortable situation over faster. Or they're just chill and this is a normal part of life.
I love that you check over dogs for health signs. I know most groomers must but it's so easy to miss things when you see a dog every day. Sometimes you need new eyes to notice things.
Naughty and nice flip. Naughty doesn't know the limits he can push, so plays it safe. Nice is outside her comfort zone in more ways than one, and losing all composure.
I've never had a non fixed dog. We usually get pound pups or take in ones that their owners don't want/can't keep anymore because they're too busy or whatever...but they've always been fixed.
Yeah I knew a female dog that had litters before and she got mamory tumors at a later age. She had been fed badly most of her life so she was very obese when my uncle got her but very fast with walks and dog food she trimmed right down and was an active happy little old lady. She had a few tumor removals and because she had so much loose skin from the weightloss that the vet had a lot of skin to close up and every surgery was like a tummy tuck, haha
@@lisaanglim9588 Our unspayed female dog lasted 18 years. She died from heart failure. It's a good idea to keep them up on vet checks just incase with the tumors.
These clients must be so grateful to you for pointing things out like the bump on her belly. Telling owners and educating them is so so wonderful, many people think that all you have to do when you have dogs is groom them, take them on walks, and feed them. While not considering the complications that come with every breed and gender of each of the sweets pups that they adopt. Thank you❤❤

I hate using the blow dryer. It's hot and noisy and it takes so long to dry I would rather go to bed with wet hair than blow dry my hair after a shower. I still don't use the dryer, but I definitely shampoo my long, thick, and curly hair differently after watching how Vanessa gets the water and shampoo deep into the fur.
One of my cats got spayed at 5 because she was a barn cat before and had multiple kittens litters. The vet told me to check her nipples often for any oddities because that makes her at higher risk of cancer. I worked a lot with her to make sure she would always let me belly rub her safely and now I can check her as often as needed (I do it at least once a week)
I had a male cat that was neutered later than normal (before I adopted him) and he later developed breast cancer. He had one surgery and then we found another tumor. He just looked at me like "not again" and we didn't do another surgery. I don't remember how long he lived after that, but he had a great life. RIP Mac-a-doo.
@@sallys2423 Male cats have it rough. If left unneutered, they develop a lot of body mechanisms to help them survive fights against other cats, like tougher cheeks. And those take a lot of energy and shorten their lifespans by a lot, so it's especially important to get them fixed as soon as safe for them!
I’m so glad you mentioned the medical risks of not spaying pets. As a vet tech, I’ve seen my fair share of pyometras and mammary cancers. It’s real, and it’s no joke! Thank you for bringing awareness to spay/neuter. As a shelter worker, I see a lot of unaltered dogs coming in with a variety of health issues that could've been slowed and/or prevented altogether by spaying/neutering. I hope more people start to realize how important it is.

When you said to Ollie that you need to rinse his face, his expression was "That sounds like a you problem, not a me problem". With Lila when you said to stay in the bath, she was like "Why? Why must I? I do what I want and I want my bubba. He is not here. He is over there. Over there is where I must go."
Love the siblings 😍 My male Australian Shepherd is the laid back one (with major separation anxiety) and female lab/German Shepherd is the hyper alert one. @@Chuck44442 That would make a great video!! Wish you had security cam footage of it!!
@@Chuck44442 - I love full sized aussies. Even one should be sufficient to deter many predators, but wouldn’t one to face a pack of coyotes alone. Together with other LGDs I bet she’s a valuable team member. I don’t have livestock so do it just an alert system and cuddle bug.
Met some mini-aussies at dog park. I’m guessing under twenty pounds each. Owner insisted they were full size 🤣.
Edited to add: impressed you own up to shortcomings. Only by recognizing failures are we able to advance, improve and capitalize on where we are. You got Aussie, you recognized she’s not really LGD, you built team with her and bigger LGDs - now presumably you stock is safe and you are happy! At least I hope that last bit is true for you.
@@finngamesknudson1457 lol. She's not little. Little- maybe compared to her LGD siblings. And, she'll eat like them. Needs a little- more time to finish. Ea LGD is dif breed. Aussie..initially ' attacks' ...changing - rapidly.. right n left. Nipping at em. The others are on top. Lol. I'm glad .. lol..they like me. I don't have huge predictor- load. So, I've only seen their defense/ playbook, few times. But, it's ' Wild Kingdom" episode.
Aww they both turned out so spiffy 😍. Congrats to their family for the new addition.
Congrats to the family with a new baby! 🎉🎉🎉
I watch your channel not only because of the all the different breed of dogs that come to get groomed but also because you give out a lot of information. Thanks
Congratulations to the family on their impending arrival! Ollie was such a good boy. They are both beautiful
Aww, they are both so adorable ❤.
And they will be awesome friends for her newborn human sibling 🥰.
What a great way to share the happy news. Congratulations to the family.
Thank you for sharing the info about unspayed females. The message is so important! I learned it the hard way and will never forget it
Our dogs have all passed and we now have no dogs. We won’t get another one because we are both elderly now.
I enjoy your channel, seeing all the dogs makes me smile and remember our precious boys and girls.
I have a suggestion. Check out your local humane society or rescue and volunteer to help socialize dogs at their facility. I have a friend who takes her adult daughter weekly, and they get to have fun with cats and dogs.
Awe, congratulations to their family!
Our German Shepherd had a really severe pyometra at 18 months old and needed an emergency spay. She almost died.
Just found this channel a few months ago. Makes me feel so relaxed and happy 😊
Lila's a real talker. They're both beautiful!
Thank you for bringing awareness to spay/neuter. As a shelter worker, I see a lot of unaltered dogs coming in with a variety of health issues that could've been slowed and/or prevented altogether by spaying/neutering. I hope more people start to realize how important it is.
Lila's face in the happy hoodie and then putting her paw on Vanessa cracked me up !!! Like, NO MA'AM! 😂😂😂
6:08 that is the face that says, “call for help, I’ve been kidnapped”
That expression on Lila's face all through that. She was consternated, confounded, and thoroughly put out! Poor baby! 😊
Congrats to Ollie & Layla’s family n their upcoming new arrival!
Congratulations to the parents of these beautiful babies 😊❤
What a sweet baby announcement!
Congrats to Ollie and Layla's owners on expanding their love-circle! They clearly care about their fur babies or they wouldn't bring them in for grooming, so I'm sure they're going to be excellent human parents too! 👏🏻🎉🥳
Thanks for the announcement of both the the July fundraiser/festival for senior dog rescue in Niagara Falls and that both Layla. And Ollie will be big brother and sister to the new human sibling. Thou Oliie got the A+ and Layla got the F, I have to give a shout out to one of my most favorite songs "Layla" by Eric Clapton and the band Derek and the Dominoes. He is aslo thee most popular Blues guitarist of mine too. So much work at his Crossroads Concerts and the rehab center for people with drug and alcohol addiction. 🐝
Congratulations Ollie, Lila and their parents!
Layla is adorable checking on her brother during his bath 😊❤
our family is going through the wringer even more than usual, and i’ve been watching your videos a ton to keep me going. thank you and all the furry friends you share!
Aw Congratualtions to the family of Lila and Ollie! What an adorable pair.
So sweet. Congrats to thier family on their upcoming addition. ❤❤
When you said to Ollie that you need to rinse his face, his expression was "That sounds like a you problem, not a me problem". With Lila when you said to stay in the bath, she was like "Why? Why must I? I do what I want and I want my bubba. He is not here. He is over there. Over there is where I must go."
I absolutely love the fact that the family used this video as their Baby Announcement!
Congratulations Ollie and Lila ❤👶 ❤
With everything happening in the world right now.... sometimes you just need to watch a cute dog get a bath 😊 thank you!
Wonderful announcement! Congrats to Big Bro and Sis!! (please do better on your next visit and enjoy the incoming package of wonder!!) ❤🍼
Love the siblings 😍 My male Australian Shepherd is the laid back one (with major separation anxiety) and female lab/German Shepherd is the hyper alert one. When they're not together she's so depressed. They'll make excellent big siblings - my kids treat my fur babies like their brother and sister too.
Aww congratulations on the new baby!! What an awesome way to make an announcement! 🎀💙
They both are darlings and congratulations for new baby!
The wolf in grandma's clothing is all i could think when you put the happy hoody on her.
Few things are as relaxing as observing your work with animals.
That’s so sweet! Congratulations! What beautiful lovies.
What a comedic pair! They’re both so beautiful! Congratulations on the baby coming!!! He/she will be greatly loved by these two! 🐾🐾💕💕🙌🏻
They're both absolutely beautiful! And Lila is hilarious 😂!!! If i understood her she was saying Fluff my life😂😂😂
Such a beautiful GSD...
Congratulations to the parents! What a wonderful transformation for the pups too, great job as always!
Congratulations to this happy family 🥰
Congratulations to the happy family ❤
Congrats on the addition. Wonder who will be more protective?❤
The look on Layla’s face at ~ 6:08 😂 she looks like a worried babushka 😂
Ahaha great News!!! They both are beautiful ❤❤
Beautiful pups! Great job on the groom for Olie and Lila. That was a wonderful birth announcement for the family. 😊❤🐾❤️ 👶
