Vanessa agrees to groom a ferocious polar bear. Ferocious polar bear promptly falls in love with Vanessa. Everyone lives happily ever after except the cameraman who disappeared under a giant pile of white fluff 💕 Seriously, he was an absolutely gorgeous and sweet boy and seemed so very patient. I’m really thankful that you figured out a way to make it work! You really are remarkable!
She has a wonderful rapport with dogs. I expect all the water felt really good to him on a warm summer day. My parents had a dog that went deaf. He was always kind of neurotic but going deaf definitely made him more aggressive and bitey, as several groomers could testify. They finally had to euthanize him at 16 when he went blind and became too much for my parents to handle.
@@JK-sh8rc I think your parent’s choice was a human and kind choice for their dog, especially at that age. My friend’s family went through something similar, his blindness/deafness made him panicky and flighty - which also led to him biting out of fear. Broke their heart, but he’d become unpredictable.
And Vanessa turns it into fake click bate and subjects this poor passive defeated dog to more shampoo and rinsing than he needs in favor of milking the TH-cam algorithm for longer click bate videos. She apparently cares more about TH-cam revenue than the poor pets she grooms.
@@sharedknowledge6640You must have not listened, she stated that he actually could have used another round because he still felt a bit greasy through his double coat. And the word is spelled "bait". Your spelling is not a word.
I had a Pyrenees, Lab cross that was as deaf as a stone. When he was a puppy, I thought that either he was incredibly stubborn or incredibly dumb, but it turned out that he was just incredibly deaf! After that, I trained him using hand signals and he was the easiest dog to train that I ever worked with. He was always watching me to be sure that he wouldn't miss a command. He had the best recall ever. As long as he could see me wave him in, he would come running from the other side of the 10 acre pasture! Casper was a big, sweet, teddy bear and I really miss him.
i didnt meet casper and even i miss him omg he sounds so incredibly sweet. You're also incredibly sweet, thank you for being patient with him and finding a way to communicate, i'm sure he appreciated it plenty
I used to combine Hand and auditory signals to train my dog, so that in situations where I sighted deer or other wildlife we could both go on watching without giving us away. My dog was a Malinois-Mix rescue and had had a broken hip and hind leg early in life from a brutal beating, and after her surgery she never went after any animal, not even the rabbits in the park. I was once asked by riders that saw me making her stay in place simply by hand commands because I didn‘t want to spook the horses if I was training her to be an assistance dog… I really liked that they thought I was doing something special, but I guess after a while I just didn‘t want to continue yelling at my soul dog if it wasn‘t necessary. R.I.P. Joy 💔
I had been wondering about signing to the dog. I watch another channel where the owner has a deaf Aussie and she uses sign with her all the time. It might have been nice for the dog as well as being helpful for Vanessa to know sign just for “good dog “ for reassurance. “Up” (provided the dog would actually pay attention to it 😂) might have been REALLY helpful for her as well.
Thank you for grooming a GP! They are marvelous dogs. Whether they are deaf or hearing, they have selected responses to commands: maybe, later, no, not at all!
@@LaChWi I hope she told the owner the caveat that he wants everything done on his terms and that he probably won't responds well to a groomer that tries to command him to do something or drag him around or get him on to table or even clean inside.
The close-up shots of his face made me giggle. Such a good pupper. Vanessa once again showing how to properly handle a dog with potential aggression issues.
@@stephpom5373this is a pet grooming channel where she helps educate people on how to take care of their animals. It’s gross that you would objectify her like this when she is an incredible person on the inside. Go get your rocks off on sites meant for that
I love how you remind us he’s deaf, but constantly talk to him. Besides being in an open space, I think he enjoyed laying on the patio because he could feel where you were without having to watch you.
I noticed that too. At first I thought it kind of silly, talking to a deaf dog, but then I started thinking about it. It's actually a good thing that she's praising him out loud. When @Girl With The Dogs 2 is praising him what she is saying out loud reflects in her own body/face. Her body and face will reflect the mood surrounding what she is saying out loud and the dog will pick up on it. I mean even humans can tell the mood of a person by their body language, and dogs are a lot more sensitive than humans in that aspect
I found it funny but also understood. Our Girl talks to the dogs, it's how she operates, and she'd have a lot of trouble holding back. He'd have probably read her unease.
Deaf dog owner here: you can ask the tutors what is the hand signal for 'good boy' . If Yeti doesn't have one you can teach it really quickly with treats. The training is the same as with clicker training , but with your hands instead. It'll make him love you and eventually guard you too...And I hope the cameraman is included in the flock as well, haha. Loved to see a deaf dog here and love your channel. Thank you!
I've never had a deaf dog, but mine always learn hand signals as a matter of course. It reinforces learning by teaching with both audio and visual stimuli.
@@trishaburris1724not sure if you meant "you know they have some" as in they definitely taught him some, but they might not of if so! I have a deaf dog, but he was a rescue and is also half blind going fully blind, so we truly dont think he can learn hand signals at this point. obviously this dog looks younger and not blind so he could be taught, but just my little personal share. now if we had my dog when he was younger, I'd definitely of taught him some hand signals!
The fact that you got to where you are, chose to offer your services free of charge instead of premium pricing due to a "celebrity / influencer groomer status" AND you take on challenging dogs... Vanessa, you're a better human being than I'll ever be. And the fact he's deaf made him the most relaxed dog I've ever seen being blow dried lol
She’s such an amazing human being. She also regularly donates large sums of her money and fundraisers regularly for animal charities. She is clearly in this line of work because she genuinely loves these animals and wants to make a positive difference, which she is absolutely succeeding in doing so. One of the most genuine, humble and giving people on TH-cam! Fame destroys so many, but for Vanessa it seems to be the opposite. The more notoriety and success she has gained, the more she gives back. It’s really remarkable and inspiring to see, especially these days where so many people only focus on/care about themselves and their profits, with little regard for much else. Vanessa is truly a diamond in the rough (or “ruff” lol), and is a blessing for so many animals and their humans. She will always have my full support!
when you're done with the premium boot licking you might be able to realise that of course she is not doing anything for free. Quite the opposite, she is exploiting the internet virality to the fullest she can because she profits from these animals massively through monetised views, far, far exceeding the unreasonable fees she arbitrarily charges. She is hardly the sainted figure you imagine her to be, she is definitely money greedy and the only reason she takes on 'challenging' animals is to amass more views for 'purebreds', not out of the goodness of her heart. She keeps banging on offering services 'free of charge' to portray it as volunteering her time, but she is not, it's full on promotion of her channel and she gets paid much more this way. If that's your standard of a good human, I shudder to think what your ethical values are. These blatantly ass kissing comments make me feel second hand embarrassment.
no doubt, but also its just a savvy business move haha doing it for free = a lot more dogs to choose from = she is able to take in the biggest and most agressive dogs = more views = more ad revenue + sales of her products. its a big win for both sides
Any Pyr owners notice how Yeti did the "Pyr paw" with Vanessa? He was treated so well, and he felt so comfortable. This sweet boy sure went with the flow. Thank you, Vanessa, for being so excellent with your craft!
Just started watching you and am beyond impressed by your gentle but firm alpha interaction with your clients. You are truly a professional with a deep love & respect for your clients & your craft. Loving watch you videos and learning through your patient education. Thank you ❤
I love how Vanessa said good boy so many times throughout this groom and near the end was like “once again I forgot you were deaf” I loved every minute of this! Such an adorable and sweet dog❤
I also have a deaf dog, and I talk to her all the time. I know she can't hear anything I say, but feels wrong not to chat with her. I dunno. Habit, I guess! It is funny to hear my in-laws and family try to tell her to do something and then say "oh yeah, that's right, you're deaf. Duh!"
Oh my gosh when he flumped over onto his side was so funny. Really shows that he's not actually an aggressive dog, he had reasons for it and when he's safe he's happy to just relax and let people look after him. What a lovely boy and so cute when he just lifts his head up and waits patiently so she can do what she needs to.
If I had been a dog I would have done the same if someone pampers me 🤣🤣 Same as if I get a massage, even when they put a lot of power into it, I almost fall into sleep 😂
@@donkeykong2.0let’s say a child decided to just kick the dog over and over for shits and giggles, hell yeah I’d be aggressive if something like that happened. It’s just scenarios… it’s just them believing that this dog is a good boy for letting the girl groom him-
As soon as you pulled on the leash to get him to stand, at the start of the video, I thought “nope, never gonna happen”. I have a very grumpy 6 year old Pyr and she falls over when i ask her to stand. That made me laugh so hard my Bear walked over to make sure I was ok - I am now petting her ears, as she demands.
since you have the same breed could it be that he was guarding his house and since he was deaf he saw the person last min and thought intruder and went on defend moad
@@amywakefield1828 i would have to say that is doubtful. Pyrs are super alert and vigilant. He probably gave someone the signal to stop - as in do not approach - and they didn’t listen. My dog is the same. She is also the same with showing aggression in the vets office but not if they come outside to treat her. They are very smart and very sensitive dogs.
Yes! He was definitely 'off the clock', just catching up on his rest hours and being beautified. When he looked up at you as you did around his ears, I thought 'He's in love' ❤
Would it be better if the owner were there too if there's fear of aggression and maybe a bite? Maybe it would make the dog think everything will be okay cause my mommy/daddy won't let anything happen.
The look in his eyes make me think that he is one of those really misunderstood, confused dogs, who just don't understand the world they live in. I'm so glad he had this positive experience with you.
With how many times he laid down I get the impression he has a really stable temperament. I agree that the owners may be misunderstanding his more limited capacity for expression. Hes a good boi.
He looks like he's having the best day ever. A nice shower, a massage and when you blow dried him he was looking around like 'what the fluff is it snowing? '
Even if they can't hear you, the energy you put forth along with your words is what they're picking up on. It seems like he really appreciated that you didn't push him too far out of his comfort zone.
I was also thinking this. Her demeanor is one that allowed this ferocious polar bear to feel safe with her. I loved how he was afraid of the shower yet while being dried was being followed in to and out of the shower area. 😂😂
I love that she talked to him the whole time! If I had a deaf dog, or was around one for any amount of time, I wouldn't talk to them one bit less than I do any other dog ❤ He totally felt it, even though he didn't hear her 😊
I have to wonder, with the biting history, if people approached him too quickly from a position he couldn't see and scared him. He seems like such a mellow boy that I have to assume it was something he read as a threat. He doesn't appear to be an aggressive dog at all. He was a very good, very mellow pup during his groom. Edit: OMG! He took a nap while being dried and brushed! He is just a big mountain of floof!
Quite possible. My brother and I went to our brother-in-law's family's home for whatever reason and we both saw their Doberman on the other side of the gate. Since the gate was only about 3 feet, he reached over to pet it on the head... Which was a terrible idea as the dog was 13 years old, arthritic, and I think going blind. The dog bit my brother's wrist. We never blamed the dog as it was my brother's fault for startling it.
I’m deaf and I’ve always wanted to adopt a deaf dog. He was such a sweet soulful guy. I think the growl at the beginning might have been when he was with his human so he was guarding them. Like you said, once he doesn’t have anything to guard, he chilled out. I think he actually enjoyed being able to peace out and not worry about being on guard. I suspect tho he couldn’t hear you say “good boy”, he likely read lips if he spends a lot of time with ppl. So I think he got the message. Lip reading is something us deafies just acquire over time, so I wonder if deaf dogs learn to lip read? Anyway, I’m sure your calm energy helped him feel safe. He’s an Angel. I love Himb😍
Please do! I am acquainted with a Deaf dog/ Deaf handler duo and that dog is so incredibly well behaved. Many all white dogs are Deaf, especially pitties and other blue eyed breeds. They have a hard time getting adopted. If you contact your local rescue organizations and shelters, they will keep an eye out for you for a suitable puppy or dog.
Doggies are great at vibes-based communication, so my guess would be that a deaf dog would rely on that more than mouth movements, but maybe its possible to train that :o
My Mom had a deaf dog and she was positive he could read her lips! I think he could too as he he not only followed her hand signs but also her lip signs.
When Vanessa at 14:05 starts to talk to him, and he then fully takes in her petting, I have to admit I started to tear up. Livestock guardian dogs need their hearing to do their jobs so it must be so tough for him not to have it. But you can see their bond grow at that precious moment. I would love to see this lovable lug groomed again.
Especially with the whale-eye he was giving her right before that! He was clearly uncomfortable at that moment, but as soon as she pet him, it was almost like a switch flipped and he was fully trusting of her. Beautiful
The way you took that big scared dog and instantly made the situation more comfortable for him to where he LAID DOWN for his bath was so cute. Some dogs just hate the shower!! You did a great thing by problem solving so you could still groom him!!
I wonder if the poor dude was claustrophobic in the shop at first - his body language definitely went from sleepy to anxious when he had to come back inside. But letting him roam free seemed to calm him down again. You did such a good job following his cues and adjusting your process to what he needed.
I love you still talking to him. "Up, up!" "could you lie on the other side though..." Good deaf boy gave no fluffs. So cute! I wonder if the bite history is because someone approached him to fast or from a place he couldn't see? Edited to add: OH my goodness, his face when you were toweling him off outside! He's so sweet!
I agree, someone probably got very close while he was sleeping and then probably made a quick movement or reach before he had a chance to sus them out with his sniffer. Smell is everything to dogs and even more important to deaf dog so if he didn’t have a chance to see or smell something, his immediate reaction would be “danger!” I bet it was purely instinct/reaction and he stopped quickly, I highly, highly doubt it was a bite, hold, shake incident. If my dogs want to bite something and hurt it, they actually bite down to the bone, shake their entire body with all of their weight and won’t let go for anything. Of course mine wouldn’t hurt a human but it’s RIP to anything that moves it the yard.
When I was a geologist, I went to a Great Pyrenese breeder near Thunder Bay. I was considering getting one for a bush dog, pack dog, sled dog, utility dog and a companion for those long lonely times in the Canadian bush. The breeder showed me her dogs and I remember we got to the last dog in the kennels and I had to stop to look. He was enormous, bigger than me at the time. Even though he was behind chainlink fence, I backed up. The message was clear. She said that he was her own personal dog. He looked at me and his eyes looked directly into mine. He never barked, never growled, just emoted...'you're standing too close to her'. And I edged away from his owner. The brown eyes never left me. His stance said it all. "I don't care about the fence. I serve her and you are meat." She had stories about all the dogs she had sold and one of them went to a teacher on the coast of Labrador who taught mentally challenged students. She decided to borrow some sled dogs and go for a trip up the coast to stay at one of the cabins that were there for anyone who needed them. She travelled for a full day, with two huskies and her Great Pyrenese, which was her own personal dog. She tied up the dogs at the end of the day and slept the night in the cabin. In the morning, she was aroused by a commotion outside and went to investigate. The two huskies had gotten free from her restraints but before they could take off they were pinned down by her Great Pyrenese who held them down until she could retie them. He wasn't about to do all the pulling on the way home and ensured he had kept the hired help. Mind you, that's a Canadian Great Pyrenese, probably infused with a healthy dose of common sense just from living in this crazy country. The breeder had a book on all of her dogs and their stories which I have kept, fifty years on. I never did buy one of her dogs, but my daughter owns a GP, and he would brook no nonsense from anyone who tried to mess with her. They are good dogs, but ferocious if aroused. Bred for a purpose, but amenable to whatever life throws at them, often smarter than their owners, and a trapper I met said that he would love to own one just for their logical ways of reasoning things out.
I had a GP who my parents wanted just as a pet, but she was meant to be a guardian. I had to train her and I had to prove that I was self aware and in charge. She once pinned a friend on the floor because he came into my house unescorted with no biting. Her calm and precise way of reacting made me feel safer.
because of you, i found a local groomer that did charity grooms. it was a 14 year old PomCollie belonging to a friend that had a massive tooth infection that my friend wasn't aware of. Spike got a fine warm bath and a magnificent groom. PomCollies have VERY thick hair so he was made super comfortable by clipping him. the owner decided to put him to sleep because the infection in his mouth also indicated that all his teeth needed to be removed --- AND part of his jaw. But Spike was one happy critter after his elegant bath and groom. So he trotted over the Rainbow Bridge with elan. the charity groom cost was minimal. the groomer knows your channel, The Dirty Dog in n. Maine.
It’s like he had a lightbulb moment, realized he could trust you and then turned into a marshmallow in your hands. Such a good boy. And you made him so handsome!
After that groom, I can see how well he was bred to look like a sheep 😂 if I saw him from a distance I definitely wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. So fluffy
When he looked up at Vanessa and smiled my heart just about burst! Having been raised with giant breed dogs.. Saints and Mastiffs.. I can fully appreciate the work .... magnificent boy and so much more handsome after his day at the spa with this beautiful gal who grooms them all!
The paw coming towards you means you’re in the Circle of Trust. A classic Great Pyrenees move. It’s not surprising he was leery at first. They are always evaluating the environment. But like a true professional and dog lover…he felt your care and skill and knew he was in competent hands. Bravo!
Being bathed outside means you get a better view. I love that Vanessa is willing to work and adapt to help every dog/cat that comes into her shop. Gotta love his attempt of hiding behind park bench
Yes! You really feel like the customer is the animal, not the owner! The priority is to give what the animal needs with minimal stress, even if it means taking longer, or using an unusual method!
Vanessa, I know for a fact, that Big, Beautiful, Beast felt such glorious relief and pampering after a day of being spoiled by you! The way he just laidback and let you trim him and brush him. It was so beautiful! Thank you!! ✨💖✨🐩🥰
He definitely liked you. You showed him respect and honored his individual needs, while being kind, caring, efficient and making the experience as pain-free and pleasant as possible. Great job!
He looked like a huge cotton ball with legs! In all seriousness, I love that you give animals a chance and work with their hang ups and anxieties rather than just write them off. And he did seem to take to you! Great job, Vanessa!
@@ellisisland3382 I've heard of people making samoyed yarn before, wasn't aware that you needed to mix it. Thanks for the info, friend. I love getting learned
I have been working with dogs professionally for 18 years. Being able to recognise and respond to tiny body language changes is paramount to safe and humane work with animals. Vanessa you are a treasure, your videos should be used to set an industry example and valuable learning tool for people in this line of work. Thabk you for the work you do!
Once he got a feel for the place he mellowed out markedly. I'm betting he initially thought "Vet" when he came into the salon. Once he realized, no, he ain't gonna get poke and prodded here, he mellowed.
You so sweet. Talking to the deaf dog just makes me smile. I had a giant deaf cat Kitley. We developed our own communication. My younger cat Bean still makes all his funny noises. Thank you for helping these doggies!! ♡ Edit: it always worked to show him things with a happy expression. I really appreciate your work n im not even a dog! ♡♡
I love how you work with the dog. So many would say, no because the dog “doesn’t cooperate”. But you willingly get down to their level if needed. Even deaf, I think the dog picks up on your good dog vibes. You really are an amazing human being. I love your channel. Thank you for loving animals the way you do!
I think Yeti knew and appreciated that you would meet him halfway with the outdoor bath and the roaming drying.... What a sweetheart he is 💜 Also when he was sitting for his towel dry he had on the most smug Noble Dog face I've ever seen.
I think these dogs know that they can trust you. You don’t rush them and you are very careful to watch for any signs of reactivity while you are grooming. Even if he can’t hear you saying “good boy” i think it keeps your energy calm and he feels that. I love that he just kept going to sleep, even when you were grooming his feet and around his face. Such a good boy.
First time I have watched someone brush a cottonball, lol! He may be deaf but I'm sure the vibrations of the shaver made him wonder what was happening. Good job Vanessa.
Even though the pup was deaf, you talking to him throughout the groom helped keep your energy stable and positive, which in turn kept the pup's energy stable and positive. You instinctively knew how to treat him, and he did in fact like and respond positively to you. Beautiful groom. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for being so kind, these huge animals miss out on alot of tender touches with strangers because their size is so intimidating! And then, deaf? I love you Vanessa - for teaching the world to be better with our furry friends. Hugs from New Jersey!
This sweet boy's mannerisms are so much like our 5 yo Pyr. The laying down instead of standing, the gentle surrender, the Pyr paw... they are incredible dogs.
Yes, so much like our 3yr-old Pyr boy as well. Including the 'hiding' during his shower. Vanessa has upgraded my home-grooming skills. The de-matting rake she recommends has been a revelation! Pyr paw!💗
I think even though he couldn’t hear you that you talking to him made him feel more comfortable. Animals really can sense emotions and intentions and by talking to him like that and using your typical soothing demeanor he knew he was safe. Plus he knew you were respecting his boundaries and didn’t force him to do anything (like you could really force that polar bear to do anything lol)
I absolutely love how accomidating you are for animals. I also want to note that dogs can learn sign language. Deaf and hearing dogs both. It can come in handy for multiple situations, but is a must for deaf dogs!
It is actually easier to teach a dog signs than it is to teach them verbal cues. It's just adult humans that get all tangled up thinking that signs are so difficult--babies and dogs agree that signs are clearer communication all the way.
The rest of our family never realized it was an unconscious habit we share, but all of us bring our free hand up to touch the area below the collarbone/upper chest on the same side when commanding "sit", and our Australian Shepherds (one of them passed away this year sadly) both learned the sign/gesture far better than any vocal commands. The other one still occasionally won't listen to a spoken "sit", but with the right gesture, she plants her fluffy butt on the ground immediately. Most animals in general understand body language far better than voice anyway, horses being another great example. Animals are really wonderful in that way 🐶
what a good boy! once he realized that you'll do him no harm, and he was back outdoors where he felt more comfortable he calmed down. with the trust you earned gently bathing him outside he knew to remain calm indoors. he's a sweetheart and the owners are lucky to have him! 🥰🥰🥰
Yeti is such a sweet, adorable pup. I loved his "mam please stop brushing me." paw combined with the pleading look on his face. I want give him cuddles and kisses.
I honestly recommend doing hand signs along with the voice always. Im not a dog trainer, but I had a dog that lost hearing when old, and having her know what a command means just by sight was pretty helpful. Vanessa, doing a great job again, love you!
I use hand signals along with the voice command. It was a life saver when my previous dog went deaf. Although sometimes the stinker would look the other direction and pretend he didn't see me 😂
I understand Yeti. I lost a major bit of my hearing when I had a sever ear infection. It upped my anxiety a lot. I had to be constantly aware of my surroundings so I didn’t bump into anyone. When I had my chemistry lab, I had to let my partners do so much to avoid accidents. Have no, or limited, hearing makes you hyper-vigilant. Also, outside is generally similar throughout a town. He’s used to outside. Inside is the new place. Plus, a table like that would freak me out too. It’s high up and unfamiliar.
i understand that feeling, when i was home alone for a week recovering from nasal surgery (my parents had to go on important trip one day after i was out from hospital) i kept thinking 'what if the geas leak but i don't know it because i can't smell?'
Same here. As hearing aid user, my ears is next to useless when I don't have them on. Due mine were sent to service recently, I would stay home and let someone else do the shopping for me. I do hear the lights sounds fairly well (grasshopper for example ) and bass type sounds, but in the middle I have lost a lot. When you live in a bubble and not hearing much you almost lock yourself in, avoiding doing normal stuff.
I had a deaf Great Pyrenees when I was a kid/teenager. Best. Dog. Ever. He understood hand signals for up, sit, and come. This brought back so many memories and the icing on the cake was that he gifted you the Pyr Paw! That’s the love language of Pyrs.
So resourceful and kind to make sure Yeti got the care he needed! I giggled at how unconcerned he became--napping was his priority! Thank you for sharing these beautiful dogs with us...
What a LOT of fur! He was so relaxed once he found out you weren't trying to force him into things he wasn't comfortable with. Wonderful you could shower outside. It's not tooting your own horn, I think he DID like you. It would be hard not to. 😊
I had a wonderful dog that was blind. He got around better than my 3 sighted dogs. Nothing scared him and once he learned his way around the house and back yard i could leave him outside and he had a ball. I was blessed to have him for 15 years and even though he has been gone for 8 years my heart still breaks everytime I think about him.
Deaf animals can feel vibrations of your voice through touch. So even though he can't hear you, he would know that the tone of your voice is soothing, calm and even which would help reassure him, and your firm but gentle body language would allow him to trust you. You did great with him, and what a beauty he is.
It really seemed like you gained his trust and before the end he was quite relaxed to just let you get on with things. That moment where he seemed to say “Can we stop now” and you fussed him while explaining you had to keep going melted my heart.
I love how you were so willing to accommodate him when he got stressed. What a beautiful dog and I think he did like you. The way he looked at you at times, oh yes, this was a dog who was all "I LIKE this person, she's making me feel better". I bet he felt loads better after being groomed.
We adopted a 12 y/o golden that was deaf, had a seizure disorder, and was put out by her owner to starve on the streets. That old girl was the very best girl ever! She "listened" better than my other 2 goldens, hands-down. All I had to do was motion at her with my hand, and she'd come right away, unlike my other 2 who became 'deaf' whenever I'd call them, lol. We hesitated to adopt an old, deaf dog with seizures, but I tell you, she was a joy to have for the 3 short years we had her.
The fact that he can't hear makes me feel so sorry for this precious dog. He only growled in the beginning because I'm sure he was scared and intimidated by these people he didn't know. He's such a trooper! 🙂❤️
Great Pyrenees usually take the path of least resistance. Whenever you try to get them to do something they don't want they lie down & go limp like their trying to suction cup themselves to the ground. The increased reactiveness also tracks with what I've seen with some of our mini polar bears in their sunset years. They instinctively use their hearing & sight to asses potential dangers so when they lose one of those of those senses they tend to get more anxious trying to do their "job" & start reacting first and assessing later especially if they are in their territory &/or with a member of their human/flock. ESPECIALLY if the "intruder" is a stranger/outsider.
“He charged us and growled” all footage is of a gentle giant 😂😂 I love that you were so patient with him. I expected longer than 3 hours with that much fur!
For a dog with a bite history, his main weapon seems to be laying down!! Lol I bet part of the reason he behaved so well was because he couldn’t hear the hose, dryer, razor, etc. and get scared. What a good boy
I love the look on his face while he is being showered. ' Madam I do not agree with this, but do what you must' What a giant doll he is. Such a lucky family.
Thank you for meeting him on the middle-ground, giving him the chance to be at his best, still feeling secure enough to be groomed. 💚 What a sweet dog~

@@JK-sh8rc I think your parent’s choice was a human and kind choice for their dog, especially at that age.
Casper as in the one that killed 8 coyotes 😮
I used to combine Hand and auditory signals to train my dog, so that in situations where I sighted deer or other wildlife we could both go on watching without giving us away. My dog was a Malinois-Mix rescue and had had a broken hip and hind leg early in life from a brutal beating, and after her surgery she never went after any animal, not even the rabbits in the park.
I was once asked by riders that saw me making her stay in place simply by hand commands because I didn‘t want to spook the horses if I was training her to be an assistance dog…
I really liked that they thought I was doing something special, but I guess after a while I just didn‘t want to continue yelling at my soul dog if it wasn‘t necessary.
Rip Casper
I loved how he walked around the entire shop exploring, with Vanessa slow-chasing behind him with the dryer 😂
yep - they explore the perimeter of whatever space they are in before they settle on their "guard spot" where they can monitor exits/entrances, etc.
I was grinning the whole time she was drying him.
I just imagined him thinking, "sure is windy in here"
Thank you for grooming a GP! They are marvelous dogs. Whether they are deaf or hearing, they have selected responses to commands: maybe, later, no, not at all!
I love how you've just explained that he's deaf and then immediately showers him with all the "good-boy"s he can't hear ❤
He can feel them lol
It's still energy, even if he can't hear.
Vibrations. Speaking emits vibrations. Extreme low ones. Deaf people/animals have an extremely heightened sense of those.
What a floof!
Maybe he knows how to read lips! 😂 Yeah, I'm like...Vanessa, girl, he can't hear you!
Too funny! 😂
I had deaf grandparents so I know sign language.
I absolutely love him. That moment where you asked him to get up and he just keeled over was a whole mood.
He said, "NO, but I will roll over a bit...can you reach it now???"🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you!
I was surprised the owners didn't tell her the hand signals. You know they have some, I'm deaf and I've taught my own dogs hand signals.
I've never had a deaf dog, but mine always learn hand signals as a matter of course. It reinforces learning by teaching with both audio and visual stimuli.
@@ilexater9556that makes sense. :^)
Didn't know that! Thanks for sharing it. :^)
These blatantly ass kissing comments make me feel second hand embarrassment.
no doubt, but also its just a savvy business move haha
doing it for free = a lot more dogs to choose from = she is able to take in the biggest and most agressive dogs = more views = more ad revenue + sales of her products. its a big win for both sides
I'm always saying the same thing. She could charge a fortune. The fact that she does the opposite is so amazing.

She has such positive vibes that Yeti was totally relaxed around her.
The dog is deaf, but he could feel her calm vibe. He may even be able to feel the vibration in her voice. Certainly in her touch.

As soon as you pulled on the leash to get him to stand, at the start of the video, I thought “nope, never gonna happen”. I'm still lol at him just flipping over!!
since you have the same breed could it be that he was guarding his house and since he was deaf he saw the person last min and thought intruder and went on defend moad
I love how he looked at you when he used his paw to tell you he'd had enough brushing ❤️🐾
When he put his paw on her hand-AWWW THAT LOOK IN HIS EYEEEEEEE !!
Wait- this isn’t a polar bear!!!❤❤❤
He looks like he's having the best day ever. A nice shower, a massage and when you blow dried him he was looking around like 'what the fluff is it snowing? '
That was funny! He really did look puzzled😂
If I had a deaf dog, or was around one for any amount of time, I wouldn't talk to them one bit less than I do any other dog ❤ He totally felt it, even though he didn't hear her 😊
Vanessa: “This dog is deaf so cannot hear me.”
Also Vanessa: “Come on. Up. Good boy.”
😂

Maybe, he noticed her mouth. But, surely cameraman was helping him up behind the scene 😂
Or he felt they were a danger to his animals. Live stock guardian dogs should never be approached without an introduction from the owner.
I love Himb😍
i’ve never thought about whether cats and dogs can kind of learn to lip read, that would be interesting to know…
When Yeti put his paw on your leg at the end, it just melted me! He could sense that you were his friend. Great job Vanessa!
She’s THE BEST!!!
I call it power paw . 6:28 6:33 6:34
Beautiful
That dog is gorgeous !!massive but gorgeous!❤
That paw is something all pyr owners recognize. The "Pyr paw". My guy does it all the time. Usually it's how they ask for petting.
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist8seriously?! Go away.
Totally irrelevant.... go and do something worthwhile...
He's beautiful, and I want him. I wanted the last dog too, and I'll probably want the next one. But this one, I want 100%.
He was falling asleep outside during the bath!! 🤣
I was wondering about that, too.
He may not be able to hear you, but he certainly can feel your emotion. Saying "Good Boy" and feeling it are the same to him.
He didn't just like you, he adored you! He loved the attention you were giving him.
Yes he surely did. He trusts her and that’s the most important thing!
I serve her and you are meat."
She had stories about all the dogs she had sold and one of them went to a teacher on the coast of Labrador who taught mentally challenged students.
Loved your tale. Please make sure, if you haven't that those stories/book are passed on to others, put on social media for example.

Maine.

Pyr paw!💗
After his bath and dry he looks like he is part polar bear. So well behaved. Looked like he was so relaxed.
@@GrainneDhu Yes, I teached my dog command with signs and voice. But sometimes i didnt fell like speaking, they just understood me with the signs.
Animals are really wonderful in that way 🐶
I sign trained my dog, it was a must for me since I'm autistic and regularly lose the ability to speak.
He looks like a GIANT powder puff! What an incredible job you did with him Vanessa. Beautiful.
or a small polar bear
I bet it felt so good to be bathed and brushed. Most relaxed dog I’ve ever seen while being groomed. ♥️😊
He trusted you so much that he was close to dosing off. A delightful episode for us, thank you.
what a good boy! once he realized that you'll do him no harm, and he was back outdoors where he felt more comfortable he calmed down. with the trust you earned gently bathing him outside he knew to remain calm indoors. he's a sweetheart and the owners are lucky to have him! 🥰🥰🥰
He doesn't give two fluffs 😅 laying down like that. He is so adorable
Yeti is such a sweet, adorable pup. I loved his "mam please stop brushing me." paw combined with the pleading look on his face. I want give him cuddles and kisses.
14:10 oh my ❤…he’s looking at you with such a human expression in his eyes like he just wants to communicate with you! He’s so sweet! I love him!
I love when Vanessas brushing him and Yeti gives her the Pyr paw. So cute. ❤️
Those paws pack a punch too. My girls paws are as big as my hands.
Now that was a spa experience! Laid down for 95% of the groom. Lol. Great job Vanessa 👏
I honestly recommend doing hand signs along with the voice always. Im not a dog trainer, but I had a dog that lost hearing when old, and having her know what a command means just by sight was pretty helpful. Vanessa, doing a great job again, love you!
His taking a nap during the final wash was so cute. Yeti is a big bundle of softness and love. I wish deaf animals were able to learn sign language
They can. All dogs can, deaf or not. Really useful.
Aww I'm sorry to see you lost some of your hearing! I hope you're doing well and managing it!
Seeing him try to stop you brushing him with his paw and then you petting him in the face was so sweet!
I had a deaf Great Pyrenees when I was a kid/teenager. Best. Dog. Ever. He understood hand signals for up, sit, and come. This brought back so many memories and the icing on the cake was that he gifted you the Pyr Paw! That’s the love language of Pyrs.
It looks like you did the same we did. We didn't care about "Roll Over", or anything like that. It was, just, the basics.
I just love how he's stretched out, relaxed, letting you brush him into brilliance.
“Well he’s a real cute puppy with a bite history, stealin all the hearts like the one in me!” - how hit me with your best shot should’ve gone
🤣🤣🤣🎸
I had a wonderful dog that was blind. He got around better than my 3 sighted dogs. Nothing scared him and once he learned his way around the house and back yard i could leave him outside and he had a ball. I was blessed to have him for 15 years and even though he has been gone for 8 years my heart still breaks everytime I think about him.
I love that you groom dogs that others would turn away!
Deaf animals can feel vibrations of your voice through touch. So even though he can't hear you, he would know that the tone of your voice is soothing, calm and even which would help reassure him, and your firm but gentle body language would allow him to trust you. You did great with him, and what a beauty he is.
It must be tough for a livestock guardian dog to be deaf, such a good boy ❤
Fluffiest cloud ever disguised as a dog. Love him! ❤
anyone else who found her yesterday and just can’t stop watching her videos
In my country we call an extremely stubborn person "a stubborn dog". I always wondered how that expression came into being. Now I dig it.
She is SOOOO. Kind a sweet and understanding with this baby. I think the dog knows it.😊
Vanessa is a sweetheart and great at what she does.
“He charged us and growled” all footage is of a gentle giant 😂😂
I love that you were so patient with him. I expected longer than 3 hours with that much fur!
I guess you've just shown us how to groom a cloud! He's such a sweetie pie! Thank you for being so amazing with him!
She’s expanding her clientele to clouds 😁😁🥺🥺💙❤️
I was thinking he looks like a cloud ☁️
His fur is magnificent. Just beautiful l
For a dog with a bite history, his main weapon seems to be laying down!! Lol
I bet part of the reason he behaved so well was because he couldn’t hear the hose, dryer, razor, etc. and get scared. What a good boy
I love the look on his face while he is being showered. ' Madam I do not agree with this, but do what you must' What a giant doll he is. Such a lucky family.
He's so patient with all the washing. What a beauty.
I don’t think he only liked you, I think he loved you! He trusted everything you did for him!
Thank you for meeting him on the middle-ground, giving him the chance to be at his best, still feeling secure enough to be groomed. 💚
What a sweet dog~
