@@annebrown9309, I'm pretty sure there would be many dogs in your area that are looking for rehoming. Why put this dog through such a long car journey unnecessarily?
idk if this is behaving well, its more like she's shut down. she's reacting to very little and we're only seeing eye movements most of the time. she's still quite underweight too, so she likely doesn't have as much energy as she might when she's at a healthy weight
@ktkchu I don't know, her behavior post groom doesn't really jive with a dog that is shut down to me. She seemed more nervous about the grooming than anything else.
I've noticed elderly folks tend to be really good at training up a dog, though can be often borderline negligent in the care. Being retired allows for extended time for bonding and training, but the humans aren't always aware of how much their energy, memory, and physical ability has declined. I'm just glad Doodle's owner made the hard, but right decision to send her to a home that can give her the care she needs.
@@agiel7791 sorry if it wasn't clear before but i was talking about the groom only. her bouncy energy and loose body language outside was nice to see, however it made for a very stark contrast to the body language during the groom. she seemed very stressed during the groom to me
"she doesn't bark". Mark my words, she'll find her voice once she feels comfortable in her forever home. The rescue we got one of our dogs from said she didn't make a peep, and was a very quiet dog. She made a little "woof" after about 4 to 5 months , and then shortly after came the hypersonic Sonic boom happy barks!
My dog came from rescue. She didn't bark for 2 -3 months. One day my brother came over and she was barking at him. I came out and asked what did you do to her. He did nothing. Now she barks when people come to my house. She can bark...loud
My Pebbles came to me with some pretty big issues from previous home/s. I've never seen a dog so INCREDIBLY timid & afraid... like even soft music on the radio sent her cowering & shaking. Worse still, if I walked by with an object in my hand, she immediately cowered, as if she was waiting to be hit. 😭 She wouldn't make a sound until after about two months, we heard a tiny, little bark. She was stuck in the bathroom. 😊 Besides that, she barked once when a dog approached me - she was my 6 lb guardian 😂 She still only barks when she's stuck in a room, but over the 3 yrs we've had her, she has learned to relax & trust. She still has a little noise sensitivity but it's easily managed now. The fear of being hit seems entirely gone - I think she realizes that she will never, ever have to worry about that again. Dogs are proof that God loves us more than we deserve.
We adopted our chihuahua from my sister-in-law's relative. That person thought she was getting a teacup chihuahua because she chose the smallest puppy. Instead, she ended up becoming one of the tallest chihuahuas I've ever seen in my life. The previous owner kept her in a cage most of the time and didn't feed her much because she was trying to keep the dog small. But, when she realized it wasn't going to be a teacup chihuahua, she decided to give it away for free. My mom went over to that woman's house, met the chihuahua, and brought her home that same day. The chihuahua was super shy and went many weeks without barking. Then, when she realized we weren't going to treat her like garbage like her last home, she started showing off her real personality. Which includes being a very vocal chihuahua who woke my family up at 3 am one morning because a raccoon broke into the chicken coop and she heard the noise with her super powerful hearing.
And then there's my beautiful Lakeland Terrier. Terriers are known to be big barkers and rambunctious, but she was so quiet and chill! She was just over a year old when she barked for the first time! We were out in the backyard and she startled all of us and scared the bejesus out of herself! She very seldom used that voice - not even when someone came to the door. She adored visiiirs and we always joked that she'd give any burglar a guided tour - "This is where they keep the silver, the big TV is in here..." 😂😂 She was lively (but not crazy) and enjoyed games and puzzles and one of her favorite outdoor games was soccer. She had commandeered one of my daughter's playground balls with a huge picture of Mickey Mouse and she loved to play. She'd run and kick it along in front of her, like any good soccer player. But if she felt you might be able to get it, she'd just step over it and tuck it under her tummy so she was standing over it. She knew we would never attempt to kick the ball or otherwise get it, so she'd tuck it and then stand there, so proud of herself! But she never barked even during the excitement of the game. She would bark when boarded and would sometimes come home with hoarseness. But at home, she only barked when she was calling or greeting her squirrel friend. Every day, at 4pm on the dot, they met by the mulberry tree and whoever got there first called to the other. They'd spend about a half hour playing and then they'd part ways. I grieved along with my baby when suddenly the squirrel stopped coming. She continued to look for the squirrel every time she went out for years. 😢 I still miss her - she lived to 18 and she lived with us all of her life. She's been gone 19 years and I think of her (and all my dog babies) every day. Anyway, it's entirely possible that this dog could be the same. Simply a non-barker.
From what I can see on the facebook page, this girl's already got a home by now. Thank you for all you do for dogs and cats! Hope one day kindness like yours becomes the norm, not the exception.
@@AF-wf6vo There are many, many requests, so it's pretty likely when the NGO has worked through all of them, there will be one among them that fits. Still not closed yet (11th July), but unlikely that anybody applying now will have a chance.
As someone who has adopted many traumatized dogs - being this good for a groom is most likely her trauma response. I doubt this is her actual personality. Give her six months to a year in a loving, supportive environment and you will see her ACTUAL personality.😊
Interestingly, "girl with" did identify her as a "high energy" dog. Also only 1 year old. But good grooming experience now will be lasting impression, bless her heart.
I also thought that due to lack of adequate nutrition before being rescued that she likely doesn’t have a lot of energy yet, though she did look very happy when playing outside. I have a bonded pair of double rescue cats who were rescued as kittens, adopted at some stage, their owner passed unexpectedly, and they were returned to the rescue for a number of months. We’ve had them for a just over a year and I’d say we are only now seeing them fully relax and reveal all aspects of their personalities. One is more mischievous now, the other more chilled out, and both are totally adored love bugs. ❤️
Why do you say she was traumatized? It doesn't sound like that at all. Not every dog in foster or shelter have been traumatized! I've worked with dogs since childhood, and many dogs in shelters have behaviors stemming from Genetics!
I wouldn't be surprised if the breeder lied and there's no lab in her at all. She certainly doesn't /look/ like one, though that could admittedly be in large part just because she's so skinny.
I wish everyone screaming about bad owners would take a step back. From Doodle's behavior thru the video, she probably wasn't actively harmed, but she was absolutely not cared for well enough to maintain a minimum standard of health. Her calmness and overall tolerance for contact tells me the owner was simply too old/frail/senile to keep up with her. The owner may very well have been on a budget or simply unable to buy enough food for both of them. But yeah, the breeder was absolutely at fault.
I agree. Sometimes owners have the best of intentions. It’s a good sign that the owner realized they couldn’t take care of her properly and surrendered her. So many people think it’s bad to give up a pet, but in many cases it’s the best thing for the pet, and often the owner is heartbroken but does it for their pet’s best interests.
Especially if the elderly lady thought she was going to be a small dog - bigger dogs just eat a ton more food. I go through a 13kg bag of food every 6 weeks or so for my big dog, but the same bag of food would probably last a small dog months. It was probably a bigger expense than she thought it would be
I think it's possible she couldn't tell the dog was under weight until it got bad. The fur could've hidden it or she didn't know what it was supposed to be. Some dogs are very slim and when you're in a situation every day you might not see how bad it's gradually becoming until it's really bad.
We lost our girl due to cancer in January. We didn’t really want another dog so soon, but this girl looks so deserving. We are on five acres with all grass and woods. Hmmmmm.
💓she is extremely kind, sweet and brave, bet she is also very educated and mannered by the fact she is constantly checking on Vanessa. You would really be blessed to have her in your life, she would also having you! 🙃☺️🤭💕
If she's this calm and well behaved, in this condition, being this scared, I can't even begin to imagine how amazing she'll be once she feels comfortable and loved in her forever home!
I know a lot of people are still uneducated on the (unethical) dog breeding world, and this is unfortunately the outcome. I want to say it’s partly the woman’s fault for not educating herself on responsible breeders. But, it’s hard to protect yourself from things you’re unaware of I suppose.
I see a lot of hate and negativity towards the elderly lady. She should not be blamed. You don't know her story. The elderly population is increasingly becoming more financially unstable as they live longer. I know she's in Canada, but I can assume, just like in the US, elderly support wasn't planned for people living as long as they are. She likely wanted a small dog for a multitude of reasons. Small dogs are generally a lot less expensive than larger dogs, are better suited for small apartments, and typically don't demand a very active lifestyle. Small dogs food needs are less, their grooming is less expensive, and their vet bills are usually less. The lady was probably embarrassed and ashamed so didn't reach out for help sooner. She obviously loved this dog, she doesn't show signs of physical abuse, doesn't have any ailments or mange, and is very well mannered. This beautiful pup is now on her way to recovery and to another loving home more well suited for her. Thank you Vanessa for being unbiased when it comes to animals in this situation. You never assume blame and just lay out the facts. I wish the comment feed was more like you.❤
Also, it can be extremely lonely as an elderly person! A small easy-going pet does wonder for their psyche. Of course, I'm not talking about an elderly person who can't take care of themselves, but most can manage a short haired cat or small dog
Thank you. I've been grinding my teeth reading all the negative comments about this poor woman. I worked for an organization that fed local elders and they started to partner with a shelter to provide dog food too when they found out that many elders were splitting their food with their pets. This woman wanted a small dog and was sold a large one that was beyond her ability to care for. And she probably loved this sweet girl. It would be hard to give her up. Yeesh. Try some understanding.
OMGOSH I love this dog. I live in Massachusetts, USA. We had to euthanize our 13+ yo Shetland Sheepdog on April 10. My husband and I were (and are) heartbroken. Five days later, my husband had a stroke. He is home now and doing very well, on the road to a complete recovery, many thanks to God. If the situation were different, I would be ON THE PHONE right now with the Adopt Doodles Group to try and adopt this little angel. She is a very special soul...
Ooof! That is a lot of emotional assault coming at you all at once. Making that decision is the hardest I’ve ever had to do but it is quality over quantity. Hope for a quick mend for your husband and maybe a fluffy covered heart, if you feel ready. We weren’t sure if we wanted to wait, get another after, or leave off entirely, as our 18 yr old toy mix is beginning to decline significantly, and we have never had the freedom of not working around a pack members needs before. Husband found a very happy guy dumped near his work about a week after we started talking about it. Brought him to the shelter to look for owners because he was in good shape but no one claimed him. We didn’t want to leave him there and have him lose his super sweet personality so JD joined our pack. He’s actually helped our grumpy old man enjoy more of his life, we are more active and he’s loving life, so I guess the universe knew better.
Speedy recovery to your hubby! I had a sheltie, she passed 10 years ago but still lives in my heart. She was the sweetest girl, I understand you broken hearts ❤️
I honestly worried a bit because of how she was during the entire grooming. 😢 Then, at seeing her outside and being absolutely lively and running free, I was relieved. She is indeed a sweet puppers, and hope she gets a forever home that helps in having a large area for her to play.
She’s a little angel and her behavior speaks volumes to that. I’d expect dogs who were neglected to be more panicked and uncertain, but she’s so calm. Too bad I don’t have a place of my own or live in Canada. Otherwise I’d adopt this sweetie pie in a heartbeat 🥺💖
That was also my thought! Besides living in the states I am a senior so while she would be so spoiled I couldn’t give her the excerize she needs! Let’s pray she gets a fabulous furever home 😊
My family foster failed a doodle who had been used as a stud at a puppy mill for years, and he came into rescue at 7 y/o when the owner decided she wanted to shut down. She was just going to dump all the dogs, but several rescues stepped in and took them all. He was so, so traumatized, and in even worse physical shape than this baby, but he was just like this. So calm and patient and sweet. He was the best behaved dog I've ever owned, even as he gained confidence. She really reminds me of him. Someone is going to be so blessed to have her in their life.
I feel bad for the lady who got her first, she thought she was getting a small dog that she could care for and to have as a companion for her later years in life. Shame on the breeder.
A good reason to be careful about the breeder. You really should be able to meet the dam and any remaining puppies because hopefully the breeder has them in a comfortable spacious area, whether inside the home or some insulated outer building. And if the sire isn’t there at least have some information about him. I wouldn’t trust someone if I couldn’t see that the parents are as claimed and that they are well cared for (or I can’t get a reliable recommendation from a trusted source if the breeder is distant.)
@@phoenixmercurous884I’m sorry but that doesn’t wash for me. She’s a year old, it would have been obvious months ago that this wasn’t going to be a small dog. I suppose it might have been difficulty with funds, a large dog like this can go through a lot of food, especially if you weren’t expecting it. Still, if she couldn’t afford the most basic need…food, she should have surrendered the dog before it got into this condition.
Dog trainer here who is not a fan of Doodles (the ''breed") but I sure did just fall in love with Doodles the dog!!! What a lovely dog... please update us when she finds her forever home
Exactly the same here! Can’t condone the breeding practices, truly these dogs are being exploited. But man, they really can be some of the sweetest most loving babies
My opinion, the poodle in her is so smart that she says “I am in a much better place now and I’m going to behave so well I will never end up in a bad situation again” she is so, so special.
Absolutely! There's just something so incredibly intelligent and also empathetic about poodles, and I imagine that translates to mixes as well. I have a silver poodle girl who came to our home at barely three years old. She was just coming off puppy food because the owner before last had bred her to make sheepadoodles or something. Anyway, the puppy food had started to upset her stomach, so little did I know she had a terrible diarrhea in the middle of the night. She came to paw me awake like she does when she needs to potty, so I took her right upstairs to the main floor and outside. I was so half-asleep that it was only on my way back down with her that I found her accident. It was as though she had come to say "I'm sorry, I had an accident, forgive me?" She makes these funny throat sounds, as if trying to form words, looks at me with her deep brown eyes, and my heart just melts. She's just turned five and yeah, she is my BABY! I hope Doodles finds her way to someone who loves her and she loves back, like my Layla girl found me. Doodles deserves the best the world can give her.
😍This one brought me to tears, and I'm not a crier. The look on her face when she was out running around in the yard speaks volumes about how Good she feels. I hope Doodles finds the best forever home.
She so happy running around your yard. Brought me to tears😢. We just got a new addition to our family through the cat distribution center. But I have no respect for the previous owner. They told my daughter that they didn't want the cat anymore because they'd had animals for 50 years. And now they just didn't want them any more. This is a 9 month old kitten. Why did you get it? Luckily, we have enough room to take care of another baby. So little Lucy is now a part of our family. Her name was kittens. I don't understand people that don't look at animals like family members. It's not something I can comprehend.
I hear you there. I got my most recent cat through the cat distribution center. He was thrown from a moving car near my house. When I found him he has a broken tail with an abscess in the break fleas and ticks everywhere. Ear infection with not only ear mites but bacterial and yeast as well. And from the being through from the car it broke his jaw bad and destroyed his paw pads and nails. I took him into the vet and said I would adopt him now if that means getting him help. Lots of money later I have a very healthy almost 1 year old. He was approximately 5 months when they dumped him. But a lot of my family say it was a sign as I had to put my 6 year old Amstaff down the next day do to heart failure. But I love my Mr. Kitty. He is just like a dog in a cats body.
@@lylakasai1439 I am so glad you were there. We have to remind ourselves for all the heartless people there are just as many loving people life is a balance between the good and bad likeca pendulum. I try to keep my pendulum swinging low and slow.
@abigailphilips825 thank you. It was hard losing my amstaff but taking care of Mr. Kitty definitely kept me occupied. He had a lot of care in the first few months I had him.
Look how alive she became after her groom, romping like a deer in that grass! Thanks so much. You inspired me to take the plunge and apply to foster a dog from my city's shelter
She is such a stunningly colored dog. I know it was an irresponsible breeder but that girl is beautiful. Such a gentle angel too. I so hope she finds a wonderful forever home.
Someone told this old woman that the dog would not be "big". I was once told the "shrubs" I was buying would not be over 6 foot tall. Turns out I planted the east coat "redwood" tree on either side of my door. Shame. Edit: I looked it up and we planted arborvitae which was not the low growing 6' tall, but the 40 to 60 foot trees. These were past off as the other shrub type. It was hell digging them out! We planted holly.
❤ Please consider my husband and I her forever home. Good references are Smart Vet Dr. Walter's in Normal Il. The last 9 months she was seen regularly and treated with the U of I Veterinary in Urbana, IL. You may also contact anyone in our neighborhood. AnnaBelle was 14 when it was her time to say Good Bye, We love you and we thank you. It was a very difficult decision on our part. AnnaBell let us know. She is greatly missed by everyone. Again, please do a good job on finding what I believe will be a great union. Transportation issue, extremely hot here. Our home is air-conditioned. Thank you.
It was so nice to see Doodles playing outside after watching her so scared during her groom. Poor baby deserves the happiness, most loving home in the world.
I've seen that pattern on doodles before and I didn't know until this video that Poodles don't have that color! I thought that was one of the "party poodle" colors.
@@NewbieNikki yeah unfortunately merle can only come from certain shepherd breeds. i do personally have a brindle poodle and i think it's prettier anyway, and it naturally occurs in the breed
She looks more like an Aussie or some such mix than a Labrador poodle mix because of the coat having a pattern. Our blue merle Aussiedoodle has a similar merle patch color mix. She was a rescue, weighs 43 pounds. It would be interesting to see a DNA test (like Embark or Wisdom) done on this sweet girl.
Shame on those breeders for giving a dog to someone who was unsuitable to look after the dog and also didn’t bother giving the details to the woman. They need to be named and shamed for how sick they are!
I wonder if they passed her off as pure poodle too, cause when I hear lab with anything, its probably going to be a medium size at least with a bunch of energy.
@@richblunt1309 they probably claimed the other half was a toy poodle rather than standard. The elderly woman may have not been knowledgeable about dogs in general. It sounds like she was expecting a miniature poodle sized pet. She probably didn't walk this dog due to fear of being pulled and falling, which can be life threatening after a certain age. I understand why she gave up the dog, and blame the breeder more.
I used to have a downstairs neighbor in a really small apartment with a large dog, bigger than this one even. This dog was constantly howling, crying, and I just thought he was really miserable being stuck in that apartment all day. I just never understand why some people get pets when they don't do their research and they have no idea how to take care of them. If you're not going to put in the effort to take care of a pet, then please don't get one. They deserve way better.
Just rescued a medium big guy (55 lbs) who we found near my husband’s work. We think it was a dump because he is in near perfect body condition. We are active and make sure he gets one really long walk in the morning when it’s cooler and then multiple sniffs and play/train sessions through the day. He is picking up skills faster than I can teach them but had none of them when we met a month ago so all I can think is someone knew someone with unexpected puppies (he is unique looking) and they didn’t want them going to the shelter but couldn’t really give him what he needs.
It's terrible to talk to these people too because they always have the "You can't tell me what to do!" attitude. Too many people still just think of pets as objects of amusement, rather than a living creature with needs.
So glad you're helping her! When I rescued my dog, she was just as malnourished as this dog and suffering with worms. The first time I bathed her, she had an AWFUL smell in her coat that wouldn't go away until I figured out how to give her a deep grooming. I came to find out that before I got her, she was living in the backyard of an illegal drug house 😟 And before that, she was on the streets in a bad part of town. All that in her first 4 months of life It's a miracle she survived. Regardless of the health trials she had to overcome, i'm so grateful that she showed up on my front lawn looking for food and chose to stay for a family. It took months for her to show her personality and affection, but she gave me her trust. Although I wasn't ready to have her before, I would do anything for her now. She's my sweet baby. ❤️
Thank you Vanessa and Doodles ! Today (6/22/24) is the one year anniversary of my Auggie's transistion to spirit. He was a short legged, 23 lb,. Poodle mix I adopted from a shelter in 2009 at 18 months. He lived to be 15-1/2 - a joyous pup always with terrible separation anxiety. His nickname was "Doodles" . Thank you for this oh so timely groom and the sweet memories which flooded in.
What a sweet girl!! She reminds me of my black lab rescue mutt, Elsie. Very smart, sweet, and nervous. Elsie came from a hoarding situation and was also extremely skittish when I first got her; but with some patience and love I'm sure Doodles will be a sweet confident dog someday too!!
Her pure joy hopping through the grass after being groomed brightened my day. She must feel so much better now that her paws and claws have been taken care of and she can walk comfortably. She really is a sweet girl and I hope she gets the very best loving home. Thank you for all you do!!
Promoting fostering is such a wonderful thing! While not dogs I fostered cats for a while and its such an amazing experince working with the animals for them to move to their forever homes. Hopefully such a sweetheart like Doodles gets hers soon too!
She is one of THE MOST well behaved 1 year old Doodle I have ever seen. My family has only ever had standard poodles and we live in rural Vermont. Maybe we'll look into adopting her!
About ten years ago, I was in a very bad financial situation, waiting for my government to realize i wasn't trying to scam back the money I had paid into social security, barely able to keep myself fed. My cat, who had been with me before i became disabled, was doing okay thanks to a local emergency food program for pets, but I could only be on it for a limited time (emergency, ya know). I tried rehoming her and there were no takers. It costs money to relinquish to a no kill shelter around here--money i didn't have. I was in agony, sharing my food with her and thinking how I couldn't just give her to animal control. Thankfully, i finally got a just verdict in my lawsuit against the government. I don't like to think about the alternative. PS my vet was letting me pay as I could for Mimi's care.
She is beautiful. Fantastic job Vanessa! She reminds me of a German pointer with those ears and typical pointer stance- one paw up, nose pointing. I hope she is cherished for the rest of her life. What a sweetheart.
Vanessa, you amaze me. As a Canadian to another, good work. For years (on my own background) I had volunteered with the rescue with T.L.C. Animal Aid in Windsor, Ont, and have adopted and loved my doggie child, furbaby, what ever you want to call her. My ex and I adopted her when she was 5. Alotho, I seen her around Windsor, without knowing that was her, I seen her abused. I cannot tell you seeing a animal in need and abused, just rips out your soul and you wonder how ppl can be this cruel. All of my kids, all four of my 4-legged children, to my human daughter, the last 2 of my dogga children grew up with my 2-legged daughter. I cannot stress enough as a mother of babies, you have a heart of gold. You are an amazing human being. Do you know Linda Blair's World Heart Foundation of re-rehabilitating fur babies? She lives somewhere in Cali. Too bad both of you's couldn't group up. I think both of you's have so much to give together. She is another amazing human being. As someone has once said, "Not all Angels wear capes" Both of you are examples of Angels in this world. What I think, is that you really get to know what kind of person ppl they are inside, and, in their soul, is how they treat animals. All the best, XX
Almost cried when you started shaving and her ribs were showing. Wound up laughing at the end as this sweetie romped on the grass in the sun! Thank you for helping her and please let us know when she is adopted.
Vanessa - what more can I say about how loving and kind you are about both animals and people. You have my deepest respect for that. And you help me to see the good in people. You are so sweet!
i just want to say having recently taken a speech class that not only are you a fantastic groomer, but you're also a fantastic speaker! love your videos
Fostering is the hardest but most rewarding feeling at the same time. I started to foster after my first baby passed after 19 years. I couldn't handle the eventual death of a pet. Now I foster and as hard as it is to say goodbye, it's paired with the joy of seeing them so happy in a home thats perfect for them. I get a few updates from the forever homes to make sure they are indeed happy and then I just pretend they are immortal, forever living their best life. ❤
“Pretend they are immortal”. Yes, please! My husband and I were going back and forth as our 18 year old toy mix is in decline. Do we get one now, after, foster or just leave it empty for now? He found a very happy guy wandering around his work about a week after our last conversation. One year old, potty trained, and super trainable. We brought him to the shelter first because we aren’t thieves (he’s in good condition) and he needed to be neutered. A week later, he was ours. He will likely be our last but he has actually helped our senior out a little more pep in his step and I have so much fun training him so I think maybe it was just meant to be.
She has the saddest look about her. If I weren't on the other side of the country I'd give this very good girl a happy life running through the forest in a heartbeat. I hope she finds the life she deserves!
I have a feeling that once she's secure in her forever home, Doodles will really come out of her shell. Seeing this baby finally get clean for the first time in perhaps ever really squeezed at my heart and hit close to home. One of our poodles is from an unethical breeder who used him as the poodle half to create doodles. He came home having lived in a kennel for all his seven years and scared stiff. He didn't know how to walk on a leash, up and down stairs, he wasn't house trained, etc. He was covered up to his knees and beyond in a layer of his own poo; it was aweful! My dad gave him a bath and he was just so still and silent because he didn't know what to do with himself. It made me want to cry seeing Doodles somewhat similar, being scared to the point of peeing, but such a good, sweet girl! I so loved seeing her run free in the yard, so carefree. Our boy has come so far in five years, and he was well grown. Doodles is still a puppy, really. I'm so glad she has a second chance so young! Sending Doodles my love and hope for a brighter, better future!
It's horrible that some breeders are just about thw money and not about a love of the breed and wanting good homes. But she is so sweet and beautiful. I hope her next family gives her all the love and care she deserves.
My heart and soul hurts for this beautiful girl, I'm sure her owner did the best she can which is clear in how trusting she is and her general temperament, if I wasn't literally on the other side of the world I'd take her in a heartbeat. I grew up with a labradoodle who was the sweetest dog ever and I feel she has a similar soul, just amazing to whomever gets to adopt her. What a sweet lady and thankyou for looking after her as well!
I could cry right now!!! Thank you SO much for the cat grooming course. I cannot get my cat in anywhere locally that I actually trust, and all the work I've done trying to acclimate her to letting me trim her a little every day just wasn't working. THANK YOU!
The tail shape and coat color suggest a Great Dane or Greyhound mix to me. She is a sweetheart and sure does merit a wonderful permanent home and family! Woof! 😇💟
My pitbull Selena was a drop off in our neighborhood, she looked this skinny and boney, but she will be 4 in Oct. She had 10 puppies and now I call her Pudgey😅 Seriously this dog here will be a great asset to anyones home. She is so sweet. Vanessa your an Amazing person 💕💕
She's gorgeous and it was so nice to see her having fun running around at the end. Thank you for taking your time with her and helping her to feel a bit less anxious.
Doodle was so beautiful and such a patient, gentle girl! Look at that bounce in her in your yard after her groom! She is going to be the best girl indeed for a very lucky family! I hope she is surrounded by all the love and adventures in her time to come. Please update us if you can. Thank you Vanessa for helping to give her a wonderful new start x
😢 Poor baby. My heart hurts for her. She's so good. I hope whomever adopts her lavishes her with love and takes excellent care of her. Much love Doodles! ❤
Thank you so much for talking about unethical breeders and some of the ploys they use to attract buyers. My previous groomer is a very ethical breeder of standard Poodles and rough Collies, and I learned so much from her about what ethical breeding looks like. She titles all of her dogs, will pay your show entery fees if you show one of her puppies to also title them, gets all of the health testing done for her breeders (not the cheep embark test, but actual testing, xrays of joints, eye tests, etc.). She will always take back a puppy if their family cannot take care of it, for whatever reason. She only breeds her females a maximum of 3-4 times after their growth plates have closed. She also does a form of puppy culture to desensitize the puppies to do many different things. And they are fully vetted, microchipped, and accustomed to grooming when they go home at 10-12 weeks. I really wish people understood what it looks like to be an ethical breeder and there is a reason ethically bred dogs have a higher price tag, but you're getting a very experienced breeder who has covered as many bases as possible to give you a quality healthy animal.
I’m not sure I believe, given the number of animals who are passed over in shelters because of fear or looks, that there is such a thing as an ethical breeder, but if there is, she sounds like one. In truth, humans can be terrible stewards for our animal companions, tossing out a loved pet of a deceased family member, dumping puppies a few months after Christmas when you are tired of their perfectly normal puppy behavior, dumping your dog in an isolated place or in a very industrial place with a good chance of injury and worse just because times got tough or when you can’t afford them or their care, without finding a suitable alternate environment. Just got a near perfect gentleman, 1 year old, already potty trained, likely because of an owner dump. When I brought him to be scanned, the animal control officer picked him up and he started licking his ear😂. The officer said, when I noted how sweet and well behaved he was, I’d be surprised at how many young, happy, very sweet dogs they have in their care, likely dumped.
I was fortunate because I got my German Shepherd from a breeder in Miami who specialized in German working line GSDs. Breeding the dogs was his hobby. His actual job was being a doctor at a human fertility clinic. He was an absolute fanatic about breeding healthy dogs so he would pore over pedigree charts and personally test his breeding stock for hereditary diseases and conditions. My dog I got from him lived a long healthy life until geriatric diseases caused his death at age 13. Best dog ever.
She is such a lovely dog, I feel so sad for the life she has had so far. She was SO good for you, having things done to her that probably had never happened before. If I didn’t live in Australia I would adopt her myself. 😢❤❤❤
Such a sweet girl! I don’t understand why an elderly person with possible mobility issues would buy a puppy. Perfect companion would have been an elderly dog. Calmer and obviously you’d know that they aren’t going to have a growth spurt.
My grandmother did this back in the 90s as well. She got it in her head that she wanted a sheltie like she had when she was a little girl and bought a puppy from a breeder. The sheltie grew up to be on of those big boned shelties (beautiful) and was way too much for my grandmother. Even though she loved the dog (and he loved her), she could not give him the exercise he needed. When my grandmother died, my mother went back and flew Chauncey from Pittsburgh to San Diego and he lived a really good life (new fence for a multi-level huge back yard and daily walks) with my parents and siblings for the significant number of years he had left.
@@doyouhaveawristband Probably not. She may have heard about the good qualities of the doodle but may have contacted someone who misled her. We don't know.
I hope they find her a loving home soon ❤ She's a wonderful girl with beautiful coloring ❤ I get so angry with unethical breeding and lying backyard breeders. Someone PLEASE 🙏 adopt this extraordinary girl. She needs renamed too something special that magnificent temperment she has.
Honestly, with how many sweet babies are in need of homes now, not really sure I feel there are any ethical breeders, especially with how even papered breeders set up their lines. Just look at what happened to labs when people wanted a working dog for a family pet. You can even pure breeds, especially post Christmas puppy gift season.
Thank you for all you do for dogs in need. This dog is so sweet and adorable...not one bark or whine came out of her. I hope a good, stable family will adopt her. She is so deserving of love.
Oh, I so hope she finds her loving forever home. ❤ Such a beautiful, sweet girl! Her fear broke my heart. May she find the most loving, patient, and caring home for the rest of her days.
I tend to agree about the name; she definitely needs something that showcases her beautiful spirit more, rather than being a riff on her mixed heritage. There's only one dog I can remember getting that we actually kept her name, other than puppeaes who had no names of course, because it just fit her so well. Everyone else got new names. Our very first poodle, toy size, was called "snowball" by his neglectful/abusive apartment-living owners. It took one evening for him to be renamed "Tuffy". A cutesy name, yes, but fit his personality perfectly. Our first standard poodle we got from a lady at 7 months old who'd bought him from a breeder and didn't want him anymore was called "Lestat" by her. Ugh... yep, that had to go! Now, and for the last nearly 9 years, he has been "Maximus". There are others, but those were the two worst original names. Fortunately, neither really knew them so it was easy to train their new names.

@@annebrown9309, I'm pretty sure there would be many dogs in your area that are looking for rehoming. Why put this dog through such a long car journey unnecessarily?

She indeed was a well behaved animal for being a foster and so neglected. Poor baby is so sweet.
idk if this is behaving well, its more like she's shut down. she's reacting to very little and we're only seeing eye movements most of the time. she's still quite underweight too, so she likely doesn't have as much energy as she might when she's at a healthy weight
@ktkchu I don't know, her behavior post groom doesn't really jive with a dog that is shut down to me. She seemed more nervous about the grooming than anything else.
I am sure she was given a lot of love, but not the attention a young athletic dog should get.
And her coat, well yikes.
She wouldn't make a sound until after about two months, we heard a tiny, little bark. She was stuck in the bathroom. 😊
Besides that, she barked once when a dog approached me - she was my 6 lb guardian 😂
She still only barks when she's stuck in a room, but over the 3 yrs we've had her, she has learned to relax & trust.
She still has a little noise sensitivity but it's easily managed now. The fear of being hit seems entirely gone - I think she realizes that she will never, ever have to worry about that again.
Dogs are proof that God loves us more than we deserve.
Haha 😂 …. Agreed!!!!
I still miss her - she lived to 18 and she lived with us all of her life.
As of June 23, she was still available
@@AF-wf6vo There are many, many requests, so it's pretty likely when the NGO has worked through all of them, there will be one among them that fits. Still not closed yet (11th July), but unlikely that anybody applying now will have a chance.
As someone who has adopted many traumatized dogs - being this good for a groom is most likely her trauma response. I doubt this is her actual personality. Give her six months to a year in a loving, supportive environment and you will see her ACTUAL personality.😊
I trust Vanessa's opinion, also, she was with this dog for some hours...
@kellieevets I was thinking the exact same thing.
Although she was scared and stressed with the groom, she didn’t act naughty. She indeed is special
Incredibly sweet baby
Once you shaved her, she looked remarkably like a Pointer! Poor baby... I hope she finds a forever home that will love her and let her blossom!
From what Vanessa said, there might very well be some pointer in the poor puppy
I was going to say the same thing, that face and ears are almost perfect pointer. Maybe a pointer cross instead of lab?
@@Willow-of-the-Wind it could be a little farther down the line. Genetics is weird 😅
I wouldn't be surprised if the breeder lied and there's no lab in her at all. She certainly doesn't /look/ like one, though that could admittedly be in large part just because she's so skinny.
German short-haired pointer could also explain the colouring.
Her eyes look so sad. She is a lovely soul searching for love an acceptance.
She looked so happy prancing around on the grass when she was done. I hope she gets a family who deserve her💖
We lost our girl due to cancer in January. We didn’t really want another dog so soon, but this girl looks so deserving. We are on five acres with all grass and woods. Hmmmmm.
For cryin' out loud, contact the rescue and submit an application for "Doodles"! Give her the heaven on earth that she deserves!

This dog seems more poodle than Lab. Great behavior during grooming. Six months is about the time we got another dog. Love and sunshine came too.
If she's this calm and well behaved, in this condition, being this scared, I can't even begin to imagine how amazing she'll be once she feels comfortable and loved in her forever home!
My heart breaks every time I see a dog that has been neglected. Thank you Vanessa for your compassion and advocacy. Humans can be awful.
@STITCHED.GLOVES you are right. I should have mentioned that. Sometimes things get beyond us. A sad situation all around.
I can't imagine what those backyard scam artists charged the poor elderly woman for this dog, on top of completely lying to her about them. Awful.
This is not an excuse for starving her dog. She's responsible for that.
I know a lot of people are still uneducated on the (unethical) dog breeding world, and this is unfortunately the outcome. I want to say it’s partly the woman’s fault for not educating herself on responsible breeders. But, it’s hard to protect yourself from things you’re unaware of I suppose.
@@surelyamanda4465it's easy for scammers to scam the elderly. Especially if they aren't knowledgeable of how to research for something like that.
I wish the comment feed was more like you.❤
👆This! 👍💙🐾
Well...if you don't count the fact that the dog is skin and bones, then yes, there are no ailments.
Embarrassed she was starving her dog?? Would you say the same thing if it was a child??? "Give her grace" ridiculous! There are no excuses for abuse!

@smr6141, you don't need to live in Canada to adopt her. Someone else who said that she lives in North Carolina would drive up to Canada to adopt her
That was also my thought! Besides living in the states I am a senior so while she would be so spoiled I couldn’t give her the excerize she needs! Let’s pray she gets a fabulous furever home 😊
I feel the same. Such a loving dog. Thank goodness she’s being properly cared for now.🥰
My family foster failed a doodle who had been used as a stud at a puppy mill for years, and he came into rescue at 7 y/o when the owner decided she wanted to shut down.
Same here!
But what's the excuse for not feeding the dog?
@@beanj580 My guess would be she was fed like a small dog, not a small puppy growing into a fair sized dog.
@@phoenixmercurous884this was my assumption as well
@@phoenixmercurous884I’m sorry but that doesn’t wash for me.
And that is her after she had put some weight on!!! So glad she is being cared for correctly now. Thank to all who helped.

I understand why she gave up the dog, and blame the breeder more.
the OWNER neglected the dog! the "size" is just an excuse
@@sarahlouise7163 It was an elderly woman. Enough said.
What a lovely gentle girl she is. And then a few zoomies at the end!
She’s like polishing marble. Such beautiful colour patterns.
She's a beautiful sweet girl. She'll get snapped up by her forever home quickly.❤
O, do please give us an update on this precious dog when she finds her forever home! I would be so thankful and happy for her.
This was the best behaved dog I have seen on this channel, such an angel and very pretty too.
Did you report the neighbor for possible neglect?
Just rescued a medium big guy (55 lbs) who we found near my husband’s work. We think it was a dump because he is in near perfect body condition. We are active and make sure he gets one really long walk in the morning when it’s cooler and then multiple sniffs and play/train sessions through the day. He is picking up skills faster than I can teach them but had none of them when we met a month ago so all I can think is someone knew someone with unexpected puppies (he is unique looking) and they didn’t want them going to the shelter but couldn’t really give him what he needs.
There is a dog in our neighborhood that is sometimes left alone and barks for hours. The poor dog had to be exhausted.
It's terrible to talk to these people too because they always have the "You can't tell me what to do!" attitude. Too many people still just think of pets as objects of amusement, rather than a living creature with needs.
@@JBOD I tried several times to put in a report to the apartment management, but they didn't do anything about it. The person finally moved out.
All that in her first 4 months of life
It's a miracle she survived.
What a beautiful, sweet doggo 🥰
Thank you Vanessa and Doodles ! Today (6/22/24) is the one year anniversary of my Auggie's transistion to spirit. He was a short legged, 23 lb,. Poodle mix I adopted from a shelter in 2009 at 18 months. He lived to be 15-1/2 - a joyous pup always with terrible separation anxiety. His nickname was "Doodles" . Thank you for this oh so timely groom and the sweet memories which flooded in.
She looks a lot like a pointer with that pattern and colour.
Yes. And the way she holds her R front leg up.
Poodles are retrievers they have a habit doing that
She did amazingly well for never being groomed! What a gorgeous fur baby.❤
She’s such a good dog. Such a mild temperament. I hope she finds a loving home.
Her pure joy hopping through the grass after being groomed brightened my day. She must feel so much better now that her paws and claws have been taken care of and she can walk comfortably. She really is a sweet girl and I hope she gets the very best loving home. Thank you for all you do!!
She has to feel much better. Good luck baby.
I’m praying she finds a loving home ❤
She is so beautiful!!! Thank you for helping her out!!!
She’s such a gorgeous puppy. I wish I were closer, I’d definitely take her.
Gotta love dogs. They are just too pure for this cruel world
Promoting fostering is such a wonderful thing!
Your vet was a true hero. You were indeed fortunate. I've been fortunate - I often land in "butter".
So nice to see her play outside after her groom!
I hope she finds her forever family soon! She seems such a sweetheart ❤
She is beautiful. Fantastic job Vanessa! She reminds me of a German pointer with those ears and typical pointer stance- one paw up, nose pointing. I hope she is cherished for the rest of her life. What a sweetheart.
I wonder if that's where she gets her coat color.
Your story is just like mine. I love them and I cry, but mostly tears of joy when they find their perfect homes. I pretend they live forever too!
Thank you for always commenting in backyard breeders & the whole doodle breeding & health issues of these dogs
What a sweet, calm dog. I hope whoever adopts her gives her a new name for her new life.
Poor baby. I hope she comes back so we can see she how she progresses with her weight and new home ❤❤
She is the sweetest girl, I hope she gets a home with kids, I feel like she'd love that
What a sweet dog! Hope she gets healthier and adopted soon by just the right person.
She's gorgeous and it was so nice to see her having fun running around at the end. Thank you for taking your time with her and helping her to feel a bit less anxious.
she so sweet and so very cool looking, she'll find a home quickly.
This sweetheart is going to have a waiting list of possible adopters, isn’t she? 🥰
Can we just take a minute to adore that tail?! She's a doll. She'll find her forever home in no time. Thank you Vanessa!!
Turned out to be a very cute sweetheart. Hope she finds a loving home. ❤ 0:30
😢 Poor baby. My heart hurts for her. She's so good. I hope whomever adopts her lavishes her with love and takes excellent care of her. Much love Doodles! ❤
Imagine when she gets adopted, more filled out, and comfy in a new, loving home! I'm sure her personality will come through more and more.
She's so sweet and cute! She deserves a loving forever family.
What a proper lady. Hope she finds her forever family and lives her best life.♥
She is such a lovely dog, I feel so sad for the life she has had so far. She was SO good for you, having things done to her that probably had never happened before. If I didn’t live in Australia I would adopt her myself. 😢❤❤❤
The poor love, it’s not the best start to life for her. I hope she gets the home she deserves x
Elderly people with elderly dogs is a match made in heaven. Puppies are cute, but a hell of a lot of work!
She selfish
@@doyouhaveawristband Probably not. She may have heard about the good qualities of the doodle but may have contacted someone who misled her. We don't know.
@@merrim7765 didn’t change that it was a PUPPY.
I hope they find her a loving home soon ❤
She's a wonderful girl with beautiful coloring ❤
I get so angry with unethical breeding and lying backyard breeders.
@TheBaumcm you are absolutely right. Our animal rescue is bursting at the seems with dump off from backyard breeding its horrible 😢
Shame on the breeder scammed the elderly lady.Doodles is a pretty well mannered princess l hope&pray she finds her a good furever family.🐾💖😺💖🐾
This sweet girl definitely looks more standard poodle and pointer. Hoping whoever adopts "Doodles" renames her...
I was thinking the same about being a pointer and poodle.
I agree. At some point I considered Great Dane, but I think Pointer is more likely.
This is absolutely the chillest year old doodle I've *ever* seen. What an absolute love! Hoping she finds her furever home very soon. 🥲
I wish I could have her 😘 sending lots of love from London. xxxx
