    I appreciate your honesty! I think you brought several good points to light not just for pregnant nurses, but for all nurses. How is it that we can sacrifice our own health to take care of others that we have no relationship too? We will go 12 hours without eating, drinking, peeing, and running around. That isn't healthy for anyone, especially those who are expecting!

      Ashley, I totally agree. It's unfortunate that we have to experience that. More support needs to be available so we can make small changes to ensuring that nurses providing care at least get a break. I will say it also seems easier to plow through those tough days, and just snack as you can. Thinking and doing in nursing for these 12-13 hour days are extremely tough on the body. Personal goals for me this year is to do better on my off days, so I feel refreshed and ready for work next time I go in. Coping mechanisms are for us too. Thanks for watching the video. It was tough, especially when carrying your baby. I'm just grateful things turned out well in the end. Ive heard coworkers have contractions and need tone wheeled to L&D because they were in active labor. Ah! What we do is amazing.... Just wish it were easier for those working ( in any field).

    Thank you! I work as a tech in ICU and want to be an ICU nurse like you! I finish nursing school in a year and my husband wants to start trying after I graduate... I don't know if it's a great idea for me. I don't have any children. I've worked with pregnant nurses and it seems hard! I appreciate you taking the time to inform us followers! Keep up the great work 😍 You're great

      Rachel Windom Depending on how old you are... I recommend waiting. Because once you have that first child.. it will change your life! Besides enjoy eachothers company and your relationship with your husband. Don't rush having babies! Making babies is too easy! For most. Sometimes I wished I had waited a couple of years before having children so that I could travel and have more experiences in life. The free feeling is gone now with having kids. I love my kiddos. Bunches! But there are so many sacrifices that you need to make for your kids sake. You must be ready for that season of your life. I am not saying do not have babies, I am just saying don't rush it. Delay it if you can so that you can enjoy your freedom a little before having kids.
      I don't mean to be insensitive to those who have difficulty conceiving.

    thank you so much for your honest sharing! I am 5-week pregnant now (this is my first pregnancy) and I am doing 8-hr night shift at med-surg, I have been so fatigue recently no matter how much I slept. I just joined my hospital 4 months ago, and I have exactly the same feeling that you had!!!! I was crying while you were sharing. In fact, I really want to give up working here, because of treasuring my pregnancy, and also the shift messed up my rest, but I was not easy to get accepted to the hospital job, I only did 4 months, plus the insurance they have is so great. I really don't know what to do. Sometimes I think if my pregnancy went wrong because of my selfishness(not resting well, wants to get higher paid for the mortgage, working hard in night shift because I need to take care of my patients), I cannot forgive myself, I should not be a mom...:(

    You have good people there because they look out for you. That is really good! I cannot even fathom working at a place like that pregnant!

    I love the little shelves you used back there for the books! Where can I get some like this? Just makes it look so lovely in the room!

    In your opinion, is it better to be pregnant while being a nursing student vs. working as a new nurse.

      miss kay hmmm.... that’s tough... I remember wanting to be pregnant during nursing school and people thought that was crazy... having gone through my first pregnancy I’m glad it was after nursing school. I was really stressed about passing and getting an actual nursing license. If I were pregnant during nursing school our finances would have been different and choosing to find/start my first job would have probably been delayed. Since I got pregnant as a new nurse I wish i was with the company at least a year for benefits and to have PTO hours to help support and take more time with baby at home. Regardless of when, just take care of yourself and baby.

      iFitNurse thank you for responding. I've been married 7 years and my husband really wants kids. I require ivf because I have endo and I'm just trying to figure out when would be a good time for us to start treatment. Thanks for you advice, it makes sense.

    Hey, did you finish ur BSN at UTA? How long did it take, would u recommend the program?

    • @Ifitnurse
      @Ifitnurse  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mirela S still completing the program I have two nursing classes left and 2 general classes. Hope to finish by fall. I would recommend it. It's all online. You can get it done as soon as 9 or 10 months. Would recommend finishing all pre reqs before starting to make things easier

    I have a question im going into my last year of nursing school and me ans my husband want to have kids should i wait till i get a job first and work for a year or should i plan to have thr baby before i start working after graduation i could be overthinking i just wanted to hear your point of view lol

    • @Ifitnurse
      @Ifitnurse  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alexis Nicole a hard question and clearly it’s just my opinion lol. I hated feeling like I needed to wait for nursing school to be over so I’ll just share my experience. I was happy I waited because I’ve never been pregnant so the exhaustion sleepiness would probably have gotten in the way of studying. I ended up conceived like 2 months after started my first nursing job. Looking back I’m so happy I was able to focus on school and passing boards.

      Alexis Nicole I honestly don’t know if I would have enjoyed my pregnant if I was constantly feeling like my life would be over if I failed an exam and a course. I stressed a lot and I know I would be more stressed because I’m stressing and carrying a child.
