I just remembered the moment when, for the first time, I calculated Cash Flow Statement from Income Statement and two Balance Sheets :) I was so happy since at that moment everything just "clicked". Your video reminded me of that moment. Anyhow, when i try to do ratio analysis, I usually cover five areas: Liquidity, Profitability, Activity, Leverage and Coverage. Combination of ratios from these five areas allows experienced analysts to do diagnostics. Looking at ratios from one or few of these areas ends up by describing symptoms only, without ability to perform diagnostics. Based on this intro video, I do not doubt that course will be excellent! :)
Love your channel, love your presence on it. At 7:25 I think you meant to display "Journal Entries" rather than "Entires". I'm confident you were simply testing my powers of observation and the lesson to me is Attention to Detail Matters. :) Your friend and admirer, Karl.

As a person belonging to the same field.. I understand your first part.. about how accounting is taught and what it is in real world. And it was a good cameo in the beginning .. but I still need the answer to the question "Is debit balance a bad thing" 😂😂😂
Excellent, Leila! Please have a look at the so-called "DuPont" model which makes sense of business accounting and I see you mentioned asset turnover, which is often forgotten as most people focus on sales and profit margins. Beware of the terms "debt" which some people relate to bankruptcy and "assets" which often include items which do not contribute directly to the money-making ability of a firm. The accountant's definition of an asset could include that mahogany executive desk or some status symbol. The best test of an asset is to ask "is it essential or desirable?"!! ROE and ROA are the essential ratios to compare one business with another. Overtrading and undertrading are what kills most businesses.
I did a linkedIn learning course on dupont analysis. It was very informative. Changes the way you look at financial statements. Hope we can have something similar from you in future Leila.
Amazing course. Leila can you help in one trouble i am faceing ; when start to enter formula in a cell e.g: sum formula , excel start to select a range or even un- grouping columns/ rows despite of the secection area is not rang but cell

It will be hard to understand Accounting with only few units compared to a garduate with major in Accountancy. There’s a lot of Accounting terms, ratios, reports, analysis, etc. You wont easily get them from a few units or working in a Finance Department..

Hello leila, I am a huge fan of your channel and i continuously watch your videos. I want to make a one of your courses since it might help me with my career. I am a finance manager for a company based in Qatar. I came across the financial modeling course. I know everything in accounting and but i thought of buying it to refresh my memory again. My question is: Does this course teach me how to construct the financial statements on excel or it is just a course for teaching accounting concepts or principles? Does the course teaches me how to do general journals and then trial balance on excel And contructing all financial statements. Appreciate your reply since iam trying to.find a course which will.help me.do that since our compamy does not have a software.
Our course focuses on accounting and finance concepts. You'll also learn key Excel functions useful for these topics. We'll also show you how to make a trial balance, an income statement, and a balance sheet using Excel. However, this is for understanding of how these reports are constructed. It does not provide an alternative to an accounting software. Hope this helps.

I've always been terrible with understanding financials, but I'm pretty decent with excel... Is it for someone that wants to learn how to start their own company? Maybe to teach someone how to invest their money? I'm sorry just financial stuff always confuses the crap out of me. Lol
Yeah, I noticed that look in her eyes when she was speaking to her boss, then looking back to the computer.😂 Has a future career in acting. Welcome to Hollywood! 😂
