confidence baby- but not like you know it. Our society loves talking about the outside appearance of confidence, forgetting the inner work it takes to reach true self-confidence. I also discuss the idea of 'internal confidence' as well as 'external confidence' and how the two complete each other in every step of our lives.

Instead of working against yourself, work alongside yourself. Criticizing your performance, appearance, or style amounts to self-abuse. Constantly berating yourself, labeling yourself as unintelligent or worthless, creates an environment of internal abuse.
Focus on collaborating with yourself. Address what you perceive as flaws without relentless criticism. By working on areas you’d like to improve, you pave the way to inner peace and self-acceptance.
My take of the podcast. Thank you for the perspective change ❤😊

This reminds me of a thought I had a few days ago about the kind of self talk we need to give ourselves as muslims. During times of low self esteem, we need to continuously remind ourselves of the pride we should hold as muslims and the responsibility of being chosen by Allah to do certain tasks. This goes to address that there’s a bigger world and bigger picture beyond what we know and that it needs our contribution and if we don’t do our part we’re only going to fall lower. Being chosen (meaning when we’re given opportunities to do something for his sake) to do something that’s bigger than you is an honour given by Allah indicating that He trust and knows we’re capable of accomplishing what he wants us to do with it. And we should deal with this responsibility with a sense of honour and pride so that we can hold the weight of responsibility. On the other hand, people who deal with arrogance within them, we need to continuously remind ourselves of our humble status in front of Allah. And that He’s greater than everything in this dunya AND akhirah. This can go as far as us saying to ourselves and reminding ourselves that we’re nothing but a speck of dust in the world and that we’re nothing if not for Allah. Some would say that it would somewhat sound degrading and belittling of ourselves but in actuality js a constant reminder of where we stand in front of our Lord. So Islam really provides us with both perspectives and suggestions that we need to implement in our lives. And from this, we should also understand exactly when and what we need to hear in times of vulnerability. Both arrogance and low-esteem is susceptible to the Wass-wass of the shayateen. Something that’s also a reoccurring theme within Islam is balance and boundaries. Everything has another side to the coin and we need to maintain the balance and create boundaries so that we’re not settling for the extreme sides of the coin. So I really love how I came to this realisation just as this topic for the podcast was released.
This really affirms of my contemplation of this issue. Alhamdulillah and barakallah to you Farah 🫶

Once u have internal confidence (self esteem actually as you mentioned as well, often something that only comes with time, maturity and life experience and having life's questions figured out) there's no need for any confidence training stuff whatever.. you simply exhibit confidence in anything you do.. as simple as that..

To me, internal confidence is to feel and experience, your essence, your true self, your spirit, your unshakable faith in your being and in your relationship with Allah. If that is hard to attain it can be a work in progress and it starts by developing yourself as a person and a human of a faith. To pray and meditate. To tell yourself of your worth and your kind attributes and ur incredible potentials, whilst also staying humble and gracious and having humility.
Confidence externally is to me, mainly emanates from internally tbh because if u love and respect urself and are kind to urself, u show that to others no matter how “awful” some people can be.
God has created everyone from the same source so whatever u dont dislike in others is what u dont dislike in yourself. You accept people as they are right now in their life even if it doesnt live up to “you”. If you love yourself enough you’d see the good soulfulness that is within others too. We are all a product and creation of God not just the goodness in us, but the bad qualities that are also placed, to teach and grow us all collectively into positive manifestations.

Hi Farah! I listen to your podcast a few month now an i really love it! I am a liberal christian from germany and i like to hear your thoughts from the islamic perspective a lot, because it helps me understand the essence of it and i almost always recognize that there is much more we all have in common than many people think. We should open our hearts and thoughts much more to listen and understand instead of judging each other. People are always offended nowadays and i think, that we should stop that and use our ability to see things with a distance to our ego and more humor. Wish you all the best!

The way I think about external confidence and internal confidence is that they're not that different. When you realize Allah created you for a purpose, gave you khasb ikhtiari (free will), meanwhile knowing that everything that's meant for you will find you, you will not play around with such gift and will do your best to work with it.
I guess what I am saying is, your internal self-esteem should be firm because you have conviction that a greater Being created you and placed you above all other creatures and provided a whole freaking planet for you to tame, and gave you a purpose, so you're internally sound because the external factor and responsibility is just too great.
From the non-Muslim perspective, perhaps it could be thought about from what you mentioned about hurting yourself and others by having low self-esteem. Others around you need you as much as you need them, so the external factor cannot be discounted. A greater purpose can be found the more value you give something or someone external, and what better purpose and value can we get above our Creator?
Anyway, thanks for the great episode, I will now go work on stuff because you made me uncomfortable.

the last 15m of the podcast hits different especially when she says ( while she scrolling the phone and saying ,ahh i want the same thing , ahh why i am not perfect like them) Then She says : do not compare ur self to someone who lives in different environment , and im happy for them for having them cuz what is meant for them is meant for them , and what is meant for me is meant for me " So the lesson is : never abuse ur self for something that u cant change it , instead work on ur self on ur self behaviors..

I didn't listen to my true friends and people who know me best, but i believed in people who doesn't even care about my experiences in life. Those who don't have respect to the one they claim they love. Stay away from those people friends.

Truly, Allah plans. Just today, I really felt like I hated myself for doing something; for slacking. But Alhamdulillah Allah made you upload at the right time. The part about self love and something about what I think about myself affects the trajectory of my life really made me get off from the slump.

Farah, Habibi, it is with great love and adoration that I write to you. I eagerly keep waiting for your videos, I have watched every single one of them multiple times and I'll say it, it's like a therapy. You're my bestie and you don't even know it. Perfect wisdom + your sense of humour is Chef's Kiss. Jazakillah for your work Habibi. Please make a video on how to deal with heartbreaks. ❤

I have a spicy brain and can't maintain friendships nor have a social life and most of what I watch goes over my head, that's a lack of confidence and self-esteem that'll be hard to reclaim, if ever. Wish I had a person like you in my life though Farah. :')

At the end it's all about believing in qadar and in one of the most beautiful name of Allah : Al razzaq (THE provider). If you truly believe, with your heart and not only with your brain, that you have been created for a purpose, and so THE provider has given you the keys to achieve this purpose (external confidence determining internal confidence), you will walk with all due respect to yourself because you knwo that "what is meant for you will find you" and "they have what they have for a reason, so I have". At this point, the paradigm changes and your vision of life too.

Your podcasts are so helpful. Jazakillah khu khairan Farah
Edit - anyone in the comments correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard it's bad to say Oh my God in islam + with saying Allah you need to emphasise the H.
