"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Woah your last point is SO true. You realize who you are, your abilities, and your value through helping others, because in that moment, YOU are their help. You. Thats you who helped them, yk? Im absolutely obsessed and fascinated with this question and have had many many breakdowns because i didnt get the "quick" answer i thought i needed. Ive learned now its a process, but yes i absolutely loved this episode, SubhanAllah its a miracle you made this. Keep going

The best thing I did was to find myself especially after I got my heartbroken from a toxic ex girlfriend. I been on this self love journey for 4 years and finding myself was the best thing I ever did. It wasn’t easy at first and it’s not gonna be easy when you first start. But give it time and effort and you realize it was worth the journey and the process was worth it

@jaysouthmusic8230 I'm 18 going on 19 in 30 days. But I've been through so much. Idk. Like, i fell into this HUGE depression and have been battling on and off for years(since 13) just a week ago I've found out i was Meladaptive daydreaming(since a child) to get through all the trauma's and abuse, to survive basically. I miss the real me even tho i don't remember who i truly am. Ik it sounds crazy but I've been in my head instead of the present moment for years. I was wasting time thinking about the future and past. Now that I'm present and forcing myself to get out of my head, I'm just starting to live in reality and not my head. And now, i feel like idek who i am. I'm confused... Like doesn't being present and stop living in your head is supposed to bring me to me? I miss me. I miss the way i attracted people. Feels like i lost my touch or power in a way. How do ik I'm being me?

Salam sister Farah I'm around the same age as you and wallahi I share the exact same personal experiences you mentioned: feeling icky with being validated on social media, having found soul-matching friends and being picky with otherwise, and gradually adjusting my compass (with Allah as my North direction).
I personally believe the biggest thing that's helping me find myself is gaining knowledge about Islam and Allah (yes I'm also biased like Farah, sue us).
Through my life experiences, I've discovered that the values I deeply care about are sincerity, earnestness and humility. I've always ways been attracted to people like that, too. Now I'm not a student of knowledge by any means, but the Quran and Sunnah teachings just instantly click with me and nurture those values. It also makes me more confident with acting them out and even advocating for them Alhamdulillah.
In my experience, beneficial knowledge truly is a light that you carry and a mercy that you tap into, and I wish everyone can get to experience it as well. It not only lights up the world in front of us so we see it's true meaning, but also shines lights on our inner selves to understand about them and know how to care for them.
My vision is for us to be able to bring our burdens to the Islamic teachings, and have them eased by what we find in those teachings. There's no doubt in my heart that Allah will satisfy all our needs (even if not like how we imagined). After all, Allah is the Most Merciful and Ever-Near to us.
May Allah give us beneficial knowledge that eases our burdens in the dunya, gives us certainty in Him, and draws us closer to Him, ameen

Honestly I’ve been struggling with the friend thing. All the friends that I hang out with are nice and they’re genuinely care about each other but we don’t have the same goals. I haven’t found people that share similar goals or different goals that are into self improvement that can lift me up. Not yet at least I know I will find them. I’m on this journey alone for now.

When u said " we're here for each other " it pop up with an idea .
That what u said it's truee!!! Because logically when we come to this world , first we have a little family ( parents & siblings ) , then the big one ( aunt , uncle , cousins ..etc ) then we grow and we make friends at school , uni , work , supermarket , vacation ..etc then we meet a person who become our husband/wife , and have children ... and those children will live the same cycle that will continue over and over again with all generation. So we didn't come here to do things alone ! We're all here for each other.
    It makes sense honestly.

Your videos are always so interesting to me, when I first clicked on your podcast I had it as a background for my crocheting but now I just sit and actively listen to it. I am not a Muslim, in fact I live in one of the most atheists countries, so I never really thought about religion deeper then on surface level, and although I don’t think I will ever believe in higher power I love hearing you talking about it. It’s such a culturally enriching thing for me to see how other people view life through these lenses. Aside from learning more about your religion and your experiences with it, I really love your thoughts on heavy topics. Every now and then I find myself disagreeing with your opinions, but I still wanna hear why you think that to see where you’re coming from. I love this podcast and hope you’ll keep posting!

For me, the entire world would not notice my passing. And that is just fine. My community would notice that my vegetable stand is gone. That would last a season.

Imagine having a mental condition in which you find yourself feel connected to yourself and then you forget and feel hollow and depressed... over and over.

I like your videos and I'm not mentally ill... lol maybe a bit... I'm a Christian but I keep up with your videos because Jesus taught us to respect others beliefs and you have a lot of good advice even if your videos are different then mine. The one piece of advice I have to give back is to try reading the Gospels. As a Muslim your religion acknowledges the same figures as mine and you might be surprised what God may reveal to you. Congratulations on the play button and God Bless you. We live in tough times and I pray for and wish you strength, good fortune, and of course that you find glory and truth in Jesus Christ

13:47 this part reminds me of this surah…
(59:19) And be not like those who forgot Allah and so He made them oblivious of themselves. They are the wicked ones. 30. That is, forgetfulness of God inevitably leads to forgetfulness of one's own self.
