@DestroIsMySpiritAnimal, Great vid! I have my top 5 as Scarlett, Lady-Jaye, Helix, Jinx, Cover-Girl. As far as who should be made... I say Pythona! I know, I know, she's Cobra... but I can't wait for Classifieds Pythona. But, I'd say BombStrike aka Bombshell for the Joe's.
Lady Jaye (Sunbow version) is my favorite of the Joe ladies, though I'd say Scarlett would objectively be #1 in importance and character development (certainly based on the comic). Something about Lady Jaye though...that husky voice, the attitude, the rough n' tumble look. When I think of what a female GI Joe would look like and act like, I think of Lady Jaye.
I was PR in the USMC and 'I don't believe in guns' would have gotten me beaten into a pulp. If you don't believe in guns (more accurately, 'I don't believe in USING guns') try not joining the military.
Honestly, as much as I respect Doss for who he was and what he did, it occurs to me that King David (literally 'a man after God's own heart') took up arms.
You really would think that, but being a Marine Corps veteran, and gun enthusiast it's surprising how many fellow Marines I served with seem to be anti-gun.
Great video! You managed to deep dive into the comics and find some really obscure characters! There were 2 other obscure characters, from the toy line, that didn’t get mentioned. Canary Ann was a Lady Jaye repaint, in yellow and red, and was a Funskool Joe exclusive. Also, Atena was another S. American repaint of Scarlett. She had a white leotard, instead of the tan one, that Scarlett wore. Atena was part of the Comandos Em Acao line.
I'm actually quite surprised we didn't get a Canary Ann repaint in classified. But then I guess they over produced two relatively same looking version of Jaye which probably led to lower sells and less interest in the mold. (she is my personal favorite female joe. her and Marissa Fairborne (jaye and flints canonical daughter in transformers))
@@Lazrael32 I wouldn’t mind seeing a Canary Ann in Classified, but you’re right. It’ll probably be awhile, before Hasbro would want to reuse that mold.
Although I would concur that “Agent” Helix has an incredible look and code name…I don’t feel she belongs in the Joe’ Verse; at least not as a regular. Her abilities stray too far into the super-hero/ super soldier realm and she is essentially Batgirl/ Black Bat/Orphan - Cassandra Cain.
Even from the very beginning of the Sunbow era, Scarlett was portrayed as tough and highly capable-in the very first scene of the first episode of ARAH, we found out the hot-shot pilot of the Skystriker is Scarlett.
I can't argue with Scarlett as #1. She deserves to be listed as the main female character in G.I. Joe. However, my personal favorite was Lady Jaye (specifically from the cartoon). I just found her so attractive and sexy. She was a lady, but also a tomboy and her voice was perfect for the character. I also liked Jinx. She was probably the last figure I bought from the original 3 and 3/4 line. I remember really liking the card graphic and figure. Didn't know much about her as I was starting to move away from G.I. Joe into other interest at that time. Thanks for the video.
yeah, I feel like my top four are kinda neck-and-neck, with Scarlett at the top. But I love Jinx, Helix & Lady Jaye. They were ass-kicking women before ass-kicking women became a mocie cliche
I agree with your rankings for the most part but I was fond of Dialtone II from watching Resolute and from finding that she was not a replacement for Jack Morelli but his younger sister. That said, a new codename would have helped her. 'Hotline' for example
I like Dialtone she is the sister of the orignal, I prefer bombshell too, she is the sister of Barrelroll and Blackout, I thought was another character name Mayday too, during devil due era
There was. Sgt. Paige Adams, codename: Mayday, who was introduced in the Devil's Due comic run. I wish Hasbro gave her a figure during the Joe vs Cobra toyline because she was theonly Greenshirt I liked..
She was one of my favorite new characters along with her brothers, because I like that they added to the lore and gave us a new complicated relationship between Joe and Cobra operatives.
Okay, yeah not just Flint's illigitimate kid. She has a really big history with many different versions, a fascinating character. I'd love to see @JLSComics do a video on her.
Hey man, digging your channel as always. I just noticed something (I can't be the first, but still, it's worth note). The Classified 60th Anniversary Marine Sniper figure: the alternate (white) head is Scarlett! On Scarlett's ARAH file card, of course it lists Marine Sniper School amongst her achievements. Now look at the file card picture and compare to the head on that 60th Classified figure.
Dial-Tone wasnt supposed to be your basic gender swap. shes the sister of the OG who went missing during a Mission in Brazil and she took over his name. She joined mainly to look for her brother. And Doc, she is the niece of the OG that was KIA..I'm ok with these two. Salvo was just plain pandering
Glad you’re back brother. Been Jonesing for a list. Great video. LOVE where you put Agent Helix. I’m completely fascinated with her. Just an amazing job they did building that character. Big fan of the Shooter figure in classified but hard to place her much higher w/o the lore. Lady Jaye, Covergirl & Jinx are all kind of interchangeable to me so I wouldn’t quibble with anyone on how they are listed so long as they all are right there together. I MIGHT have bumped LJ to the top of that group just based on her fight with Zarana in the comics, though I generally prefer the Sunbow version due to her voice there. Anyway, great list and looking forward to the Cobra version too.
My favorite women from the Joe team are Shooter, Stilleto, Lady Jaye, Freestyle, Bombstrike, & Cover Girl Other favorites are Lt. Daina, Sparta, & Quarrel
It might be more likely that Hasbro couldn't trademark the 'Bombshell' name at the time, as the Insecticon Bombshell has gone under other names thanks to trademarking issues in the past.
Yeah, there are so many damn characters, you can really just avoid them. There are hundreds of characters who never get used, For example: Mercer barely is used in the comics and he is one of the cooler ideas for a character
I only have 3 women of GI Joe so far. I have Lady Jaye, Agent Helix and Zarana. They are all good but I love Zarana and Helix. Those mantis blades Helix has are awesome
14:08 Sherlock's lore seems to "run parallel" to Marvel Comics character Misty Knight : police officer\detective, artificial arm. Do you think maybe this is another case of a character in another work inspiring a Joes creation i.e. Magnum P.I. inspires Chuckles.
Major respect for putting Helix that high. I was drawn to her because of the ASD aspect but she's also a really cool character. Good to see her recognized.
We need more females in the classified series fo sho - Actual females who love guns and like being called bombshells like God intended. Retro Scarlett is what made me pull the trigger and start collecting classified, but I think Agent Helix is my favorite so far.
Again great vid and again 70% of the characters i didn't know they existed... the gender swap is horrible!!!! they cant spend 5min to think of a new name and background for a character!?... Smoke Jumper, she's an elite sky diver trained by Ace... there that took me 2min, its not that hard!.... what happened to Gung Ho's hat? did you loose it?
Two swaps that I don't really mind are Doc, and Dial Tone. When I saw they swapped Dial Tone in Resolute, at first I was kind of shocked, then kind of shrugged. I mean, it's Dial Tone. The Salvo swap, now that's just bizarre, and really pushing it.
Scarlett definitely deserves the #1 slot on this list! Larry Hama presented her as capable yet still very feminine. After Scarlett, my fave female Joes are- Jinx, Agent Helix (the closest Hasbro came to having a female Joe as Scarlett's equal in terms of ability), and G. I. Jane, who doesn't lack for looks (lets see if Lady J can get away with sporting a short skirt (G. I. Joe #127)) and smarts. Never cared much for Lady Jaye; she's arrogant, bossy, egotistical and vain, not caring to respect her betters as seen in G. I. Joe #s 32, 34 (last page, last panel), and DDP's G. I. Joe #42 (Philip Rey is a 3 star General; she's just a Corporal). Plus, she's a tomboy and a plainjane.
I honestly wouldn't mind seeing more characters from other Joe franchises. I understand they probably wouldn't sell well but i think it's fun to celebrate the history of the brand. i wouldn't be surprised if we got freestyle as a lazy repaint/mold of shooter once the haslab comes out.
It's funny, I think I may be one of the only ones (from the USA anyway) that was excited to see Classified Glenda. I got the pilot Scarlett figure in the 25th line thinking the blue, white and silver paint was a really cool variant not realizing it was a reference to Glenda (a figure I had never heard of). When they came out with the Shooter Classified figure, I thought it was a gender swap for Fumbles/Trouser Snake from the Robot Chicken episode. As for Helix, I got the Rise of Cobra figure thinking it was maybe some concept art they made for a movie Scarlett but didn't use it so they made a new character from it. Needless to say I was excited to see the Classified Helix. And I'm with you on Jinx though - I don't preorder many of the Classified figures but I made sure to preorder her. As for my top favorite, Scarlett was one of my first crushes as a kid - please note Cheetara was as well so maybe it's more about the one piece leotard? Now as an adult though, Lady Jay's voice from the original cartoon is something else LOL. Love the list, can't wait for the Cobra one.
Honestly this is a nice list, i did find it helpful to know about who's who in the series, what is their relevance and so on, especially since I'm still a newbie in knowing this series and the classified line is what got me to love it more, even literally taking the "knowing is half the battle" seriously but awesome at the same time 😂. Some lf these characters i had no idea that these may be as awesome than i expected such as Helix or G.I. Jane, meanwhile there are some others that i did recognize in some sense like Lady Jaye and Cover girl, funny enough i was expecting Lady Jaye to be number one since most of the people i come across actually love her a lot more than Scarlett 😂 but for me that would be Scarlett, aside from liking redheads, i like her character, her relationship with Snake-Eyes and overall she is iconic. I don't necessarily have a top 5 to mention, but i can say that my second favorite is one who i didn't know at first until i studied her character thanks to the internet, being Jodie "Shooter" Craig and honestly it still pains me to know she didn't last long for the entirety of her existence, she seemed like the kind of character I'd be into so badly (even it's sad that i never got the figure unfortunately), but luckily there is always the magic of imagination where she survived and she'd be part of my own Joe team/story.
Have you considered reviewing some of the Forever Clever G.I. Joe construction sets? They’re … not great, but it seems like that line could benefit from some constructive feedback.
I'm not sure I'm gonna focus on reviews, because so many other channels do it better. Like @BaldyLockz Reviews, 3POA, Artist Shark. I think I'm gonna focus on lore
I got introduced to Agent Helix in the final issues of the IDW comics continuity. I think shes a soild unique character. Shes has a epic final battle fighting next to Snake Eyes which is a interesting transition of eras.
I think Lady Jaye is my number one as well, though Scarlett is impossible to deny. Also I like Cover Girl and Jinx. Had not have heard of those at the bottom. Some... Choices there.
It's actually a shame they didn't do more with Cover Girl because the concept of her character was a great twist on things. A good looking professional model that found out how shallow the profession really is and joined the military. But unlike the usual 'celeb joins the army' trope she digs in and rocks it to actually improve herself and do good for the world. And despite the profession they didn't make her another disguise person. She takes up one of the dirtiest physical jobs as a vehicle mechanic and excels. And drive them, and we can agree that skilled tank girl is both really hot and really badass.
well... honestly..my top five would be 1. Scarlet of course. 2. Lady Jaye, 3. Jinx 4. Covergirl because of what Devil's Due Comics did with her. I loved her with Shipwreck in that series. I even loved her team-ups with Shipwreck in the cartoon.5. Now Helix (cause yes I love the character.) Some will say Oh no she is woke.) pffft no she isn't. Stop that.) But I like her. I don't see the issue with her. She is completely original. He has an amazing look. I do enjoy it when she shows up in comics. I did read her solo story with the child trafficker. And she was just badass. I get why some would have her as number two. But I can't put her above Jaye, Covergirl, or Jinx. There is just too much love and history there. As far as Scarlet goes...I could do a whole video on her if I wanted. There are so many things I love about her. Too many to say. I will say this. Staying with someone you love even when his face is disfigured says a lot about her character. but that's just one of many many things. Actually she is in my top ten favorite Joes of all time as well.
Yeah, that's why I love the Snake Eyes/ Scarlett dynamic rather than Duke/ Scarlett. It is so much more interesting that she is with this guy who basically has no face
I'm about to subscribe. I'll be 48 later this month. I can remember when the name was a designation. As far as Mayday... If she's great like "that"?...Maybe the original trained her?...The present pays respect to the past.
I have all the Released Female Joe's so far in Figures. I even made a couple of Customs. Two half sisters Rush (Amanda the American) and Roulette (Anya the Ukrainian). They have different skill sets. Rush is like a female Rambo, street fighter etc. Roulette is more like a Bond, gambling, infiltration etc.
Good vid. I agree with most, but I would’ve ranked Dial-Tone a bit higher. She was a good supporting character throughout the IDW era. Not too fancy, just a good team player.
Cool video. I had no idea there were so many female Joe characters, but I stopped following around 90’. I didn’t know woke swapping was a thing for GI Joe. Hasbro’s Joes were the leaders as far as I’m concerned in developing female characters, not to mention diverse characters overall. Totally agree - just put 10 minutes of effort creating new woke characters instead destroying old ones. I loved Dialtone. I had three. He was my troop builder when he wasn’t just Dialtone. Back to the lineup of top characters, Covergirl sucked as an actual toy - the sculpt just did not match the file card. Or she was a covergirl for Butch Magazine. My top four would be Scarlet (mentally the strongest of the original Joes, plus the coolest assortment of weapons on the figure), Jinx, Lady Jay, Cover Girl. Agent Helix seems like a great story. And granny ninja with the brick hand back is such an awesome concept, absolutely worthy of an action figure.
Yeah, I think there was a period in Devil's Due/ IDW where they decided to swap genders rather than come up with new characters. I highly recommend reading the Silent Option mini-series with Helix. It's one of the best stories ever in the GI Joe canon. (You can read it online btw, for free) readallcomics.com/category/g-i-joe-a-real-american-hero-silent-option/
So which ones from this list should they make as a GI Joe Classified?
@DestroIsMySpiritAnimal, Great vid! I have my top 5 as Scarlett, Lady-Jaye, Helix, Jinx, Cover-Girl.
As far as who should be made... I say Pythona! I know, I know, she's Cobra... but I can't wait for Classifieds Pythona. But, I'd say BombStrike aka Bombshell for the Joe's.
I'm just starting the video, but all of them
1. Scarlett 2. Agent Helix 3. Lady Jaye 4. Cover Girl 5. Jinx.
Love your videos keep them up.
Yo Joe!!!
Scarlett, Agent Helix, and G. I. Jane.

They brought a lot of them into the Collector's Club, so it is possible
Is it female Dialtone his daughter?
You forgot Bottom Line.
The female accountant.
Nice. We should keep this going
Her *codename* is Glenda?
Right? How is that a codename?
@@DestroIsMySpiritAnimal is it a reference to something? Is there a famous Argentinian pilot named Glenda?
Another great video, I did not know that there so many female Joes.
Me neither. Thanks!
Lady Jaye from the original 1983-1986 G.I. Joe cartoon was always my favorite female G.I. Joe soldier.
You are right that a lot of females like this stuff, because I Am one, and I have loved this stuff since the 80s
Great video loved your opinions but you forgot to mention the love story between Scarlett and Duke
Yeah, pretty lame
It's actually a shame they didn't do more with Cover Girl because the concept of her character was a great twist on things. A good looking professional model that found out how shallow the profession really is and joined the military. But unlike the usual 'celeb joins the army' trope she digs in and rocks it to actually improve herself and do good for the world. And despite the profession they didn't make her another disguise person. She takes up one of the dirtiest physical jobs as a vehicle mechanic and excels. And drive them, and we can agree that skilled tank girl is both really hot and really badass.
Fantastic list. Scarlett is my number 1 but i feel like Lady Jaye could be number 1 and Scarlett 2 in general.
well... honestly..my top five would be 1.
Not ever reading any material from the writer of Salvo's character has probably saved tons of sleepless nights.
I wish GI Joe would go more in detail with Lady Jaye and Destro being related.
sherlock is for when you want a misty knight.
Top picks for Classified would Blackhat, Bombstrike, Pale Peony, Daina, and Stiletto.
Scarlett had always been number 1. Totally awesome. Lady J is a Good 2nd.
Everyone seems to forget that Doc was a pacifist well before Lifeline ever showed up.
Aubrey Sitterson got fired for this reason. He hates America but loves wrestling. Where he has found success. Hope he stays there.
Dawn Moreno has such a cool look!!!
In the comics Shipwreck and Cover Girl were a couple
I Love the original trilogy of G.i.Joe Ladies. All of'em top 5 for me. However, Baroness is my #1! Baroness rules above'em all! 😁
Bombstrike leapt up several spaces on my list by merit of somehow surviving getting shot in the head in the Hama book.
Since Billy, Cobra Commander’s son, has a cyber leg, I’m not sure why you dislike Sherlock’s cyber arm?
Good vid. I agree with most, but I would’ve ranked Dial-Tone a bit higher. She was a good supporting character throughout the IDW era. Not too fancy, just a good team player.
Honda Lou, entrepreneur!
I think they used the gungho body template for Natalie Poole
Snake Eyes's predecessor would be Jinx. Seeing, hearing and speaking from training in "the dark".
Now if only Honda Lou West could return in some capacity.
(You can read it online btw, for free)
