Asterism is Haruka (20 - Guitar), Miyu (20 - Bass) and Mio (23 - Drums). Haruka also goes by Hal-Ca. They have all been playing in front of audiences since they were 12 or so and Haruka has been writing songs since the same age. Dawn was written when she was 14-15 and she was 16 in this performance. Their music video for Rising Moon was done when Haruka was 15 and she wrote the song when she was 12. There are videos on TH-cam showing her performing it on stage at 12. She is an incredible guitarist able to play many styles and techniques (there are some very jazz-metal pieces on each album). Miyu is an absolute god on 4, 5 or 7 string bass and Mio is also fantastic. You will not be disappointed in any of their work. They are all clasically trained musicians, having attended the Yamaha Music Foundation School in Fukuoka Japan, which is where they met. Yamaha did a short documentary about them when they were in their early teens, th-cam.com/video/20jDm2fyLeA/w-d-xo.html. It doesn't show up on many TH-cam searches since all the text and speech is in Japanese.
Please do more Asterism. You can work through them more or less chronologically by starting with Blaze th-cam.com/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/w-d-xo.html or Light in the Darkness th-cam.com/video/QpxNcZoNjVU/w-d-xo.html , both played live at Fukuoka Graf in front of a hometown crowd, both hard rock/metal style and both off their first full album, Ignition. Off their next full album, Guernica+a, I would recommend Church, Gunfire or Faced/Burned. All have live in-studio recordings. Guernica+a is more progressive/jazz/metal and is a masterpiece. Off their third and latest full album, Animetic, I would recommend the official MVs for Unravel and 狂乱 Hey Kids! or any of a number of live performances off this album. Animetic is a concept album of anime theme covers. Takako has a wonderful channel with lots of live Asterism as does their official channel.

Asterism formed in 2014 when they were age at 11-14, and release their first single at age 13 - 16. They have 1 Singles (2016), 3 EP (2017,2018,2020), 3 Album (2018,2021,2022). Hal-ca is using Yamaha Pacifica, she also got another guitar, Yamaha Revstar, a gift from Yamaha. Her guitar icon Takasaki Akira (Loudness), Michael Armott (Arch Enemy) and Victor Smolski (Rage). Miyu (bass) influenced by Billy Sheehan. Mio (drummer) influenced by Cozy Powell (Whitesnake).

Hal-ca plays a Yamaha Pacifica in this video. She just scored an endorsement deal with ESP (last fall) so she is playing ESP guitars more in the last few months. But, she could play a shovel and make it sound great.

So glad you did this man. Asterism is a gem to behold and cherish. When I first heard them a few years ago I genuinely thought we were/still are witnessing the same momentous experience when Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience or Rush emerged. They are that good and significant, not only for their obviously otherworldly talent and skill but their composure, presence, and songwriting skills from such an early age. And no, they don't need a singer, the subtle sublimity of their music tells a thousand stories!...I dare say Asterism is like Joe Satriani with a more exciting rhythm section. Actually they're more than just the usual comparisons because they continuously innovate and challenge themselves to evolve. They are ASTERISM!!!
Of course like others will mention, make sure to check out their numerous great videos, definitely the Live at Studio series, perhaps start with the track "Church".
    Respect🤘

Haruka's the GOAT and noone's gonna convince me otherwise. She just turned 20 on November 23, was 16 when this was recorded.
And that doesn't take anything away from the 2 brothers Miyu and Mio, who are also extraordinary good.
Your next listen HAS to be "Church" live in studio, which is a real masterpiece. Thanks 🤘🏻🙂

They do occasionally have a guest singer, Maki Oyama.
Here is an example (unfortunately sound quality is not good), but it shows how they may look with a metal singer. (It looks good, very good.)

Congratulations on finding the best new power trio since (in my opinion) Cream. Forgive any overlap with others' comments--here is some background: They are an instrumental power trio from Fukuoka, Japan. They consist of:
    Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”)
    Miyu Yoshinaka, bass
    Mio Yoshinaka, drums
One quibble with your comments: She is not just one of the best female guitarists from Japan. She is one of the best guitarists in the world, of any nationality or gender.
They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. From the start, they have written most of their own music, covering a wide range of styles.
The brothers bring a lot of jazz and funk ideas into their playing. Miyu plays 4,5 and 7-string basses, which are co-lead instruments in his hands. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, with bits of Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt and Akira Takasaki, among others, thrown in. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical instrumentalists, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music.
    Best clips besides "Dawn" include:
“Rising Moon” (their first professional MV): th-cam.com/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/w-d-xo.html
    “Blaze” (Live): th-cam.com/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/w-d-xo.html
“Light in the Darkness” (Live): th-cam.com/video/QpxNcZoNjVU/w-d-xo.html
    “Yunagi” (Studio live): th-cam.com/video/8Kjntjpnn7U/w-d-xo.html
    “Day 26” (Studio live) th-cam.com/video/6qcxU-rikgs/w-d-xo.html

These 3 are absolute beasts on their instruments and with their stage presence. 🔥🤘🏻
For me it is one of the great mysteries of this world, why these musicians are not already much better known. Thanks mainstream garbage! 🤮...
If you saw Ryan Mear's reaction, I'm guessing it was the live in studio version of 'Church'. If not, this is the next must-see! On their channel in general you'll find some really good live in studio performances. Take your pick, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. :)

    From France:
I was born at the time of the birth of rock, in the years... let's move on, and I fell into it from the cradle. I have heard and seen many musicians, bands and singers throughout the history of this music, but it is indeed in Japan that, in recent years, this music has been reborn, which had a tendency to fall asleep a little. Thanks to bands like Lovebites, Nemophila, Sokoninaru (and so many others), fiber is coming back and how!!! (I could say the same for jazz too.)
Nice discovery that this ASTERISM group. I've known them now for 2 or 3 years and I'm never disappointed with them.
The three musicians are true virtuosos in their part, but not only, they compose and arrange all their songs. However, their covers, when they do, are astoundingly barren. As proof, I strongly recommend their interpretation/tribute of "Scuttle Buttin" by Stevie Ray Vaughan... I can't get over it as it's beautiful, powerful and at the same time respectful of the God of white blues. ..
    th-cam.com/video/BtB_VrYLRaM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Takako
Hal-Ca is in my top three musicians (who just happen to be girls!!!): Senri Kawaguchi, one of the greatest drummers in the jazz/jazz-fusion world at the moment; Midori Tatematsu of "Lovebites", which does not prevent those who prefer Miyako to him, has both simplicity-virtuosity and feeling in his playing and whose playing is precisely much more blues/rock than pop song.
And of course Hal-Ca... But Hal-Ca is a whole world of guitars on its own...
Thank you for this reaction to this group, ingenuous but which seems sincere... Continue...

You seems knew Hal-Ca well enough already, lets talk about Mio, the drummer, and Miyu the bassist, they are sibling and started as a duo before they meet Hal-Ca, Miyu is easily to seen as a creative bassist, some of his signature is swapping the bass with his thumb ("Blaze" - th-cam.com/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/w-d-xo.html) and beautiful pinch harmonic on bass !! ("Church" - th-cam.com/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/w-d-xo.html) ,
About Mio, yes he is seems eclipsed by Hal-Ca and Mio in this video, it's because this just a fancam, it didn't catch the whole sound spectrum, you need video with better audio to listen his drumming well,
What people rarely talk about from this band is, this power trio not only technically great and highly creative composer, but also masters of improvisation, check their Steve Ray Vaughan's Scuttle Buttin (th-cam.com/video/BtB_VrYLRaM/w-d-xo.html)... They are simply one of greatest band we have today,
