    Hey!, good job Alan. This band is insane. HAL-CA, Miyu and Mio. They are young, they are genious, the future belongs them. If you want to check another band with a similar taste you can listen to Sokoninaru. I think you would like them. Thank you!

    "Dawn" is one of the best instrumental pieces of recent years. You can hardly hear anything better. Well, 16- year old Hal-Ca descended from heaven with a Yamaha Pacifica in her hands and gave us a soulful, heartbreaking solo. Incredible girl....

    HAL-CA has it all. She has speed, precision, versatility, creativity, confidence, and she definitely has feels. Fortunately, the same can be said about Miyu and Mio. I think the only thing HAL-CA doesn't have is height. It can be hard to see what she's doing in some live videos, so I appreciate the camera angle in this one. I think their best song for "feel" is "Church" live in-studio, but I'll be here for anything Asterism does.

    Alan may be old enough to know who English guitarist, John McLaughlin is. Considered by some(Jeff Beck and Pat Metheny for example) to be the "world's greatest guitarist alive" . Been around a long while(80 yrs.). Actually gave lessons to Jimmy Paige growing up. Hal-Ka has the ability to make a guitar speak, in the same manner as Mahavishnu John Mclaughlin can. Little need for vocals to pull up emotions. Their guitar work, beautifully, takes you places, in your mind, they would like you to come explore with them. She fuses with the backdrop of the heavy metal "blast". A really cool 21st Century innovation. American, jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius's influence in Miyu's play is undeniable. He admits that listening to Jaco "changed his life, musically". His collaboration with Hal-Ca and his brother, Mio have created a power trio that will be remembered for a very long time, no matter where their paths take them. In- depth interview www.showmoonmag.com/en/urban-moon/asterism/ if interested in reading the backstory of these kids.... Bit of a long winded comment. Sorry, there is so much to unpack. We may be fortunate enough to be witnessing genius. Quite a thrill really.

    hello alan, thanks for appreciating asterism. these three are so talented. my recommendation of them would be "light in the darkness" live from welcome to inferno, fukuoka 2019. the best performance of them I know. halca-ca was 16 then, one with her instrument, wild and already so amazing. a beautiful bass solo on a 7string is also included.

    Rock is not a genre rich in true masterpieces. This is not a put-down, it's because short songs are the order of business, and the bar to be considered competent is low compared with classical or jazz. That said, there have been a some masterpieces in rock history--Beatles' "Day in the Life", Zeppelin's "Kashmir", King Crimsons' "Starless", Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", maybe a dozen more. This has to be included on the list. It's not only a gorgeous composition, but the execution is inhumanly great.

    In my opinion that a band so young could compose and play such a masterful piece of music as this demonstrates amazing levels of talent, feeling, technical ability and emotion. Now that they have released two more modern progressive metal masterpieces in Guernica + a and Animetic I am very excited about what they do next. I mean Haruka turns 20 next week, they have a long and dynamic future ahead of them.
    By the way, I recorded today with my Pacifica and Marshall, which I now use simply because of her. I know she now uses ESP, but they are expensive!

    There is a better version than this one fan cam video, for me it sounds to hollow and not getting the beefy sound of her chugs and galloping riffs. Still awesome to watch though these kids are freaking amazing, I can still remember when I saw the live back 2019 and they blew us all away. To watch Hal-Ca live or the entire band was a day to always remember. the studio version of Battle session 360 th-cam.com/video/zTMwICTO5Bg/w-d-xo.html

    Sorry Alan; my opinion has not been changed. There is no denying the incredible, mind-blowing skill of these young people. Talent like that doesn't come along every day. Like you, I was interested to see if they could do different styles of music, and it's obvious they can. HOWEVER....in my opinion, they need to work on crafting a good piece of music. It's not necessary to show every single thing you can do in one song. This just seemed like they took every single thing they can do, put it in a box, shook up the box, and whatever they pulled out became the next section of the song. I would be more impressed if they took one or two different skills in their arsenal and crafted a well-written song. Then use a different skill set for the next song. Of course, this is just my opinion, and I'm sure I'll get roasted by their fans for saying so. However, that's the wonderful thing about music - everyone has different tastes and enjoys different things. If they didn't, there would only be one style of music in the world. Btw.... even though this didn't work for me, I'll keep listening to music - even though you think I shouldn't.

      Ralph , let me answer by saying , in many ways I agree with you , I said the same if the warning , that they need to hone their skills on stage touring to fully develop over years , I got roasted 😳, yet I still think they have unbelievable potential . I also think the same of ASTERISM . I think the difference we have is absolutely fine , your opinion is as valid as Anyone else’s, being a fan does not make me right it just means I’m invested to see where they can go , they need to tour and develop in the same way as any band should .. I really enjoyed your insights , please my friend keep them coming . It actually informs my thinking 😊👍

      @@alan-reacts65 You're right in that they have incredible potential. As I've said before, they are very, very young; hopefully, as they mature as both musicians and people, their music will become more coherent and better crafted. They have unbelievable talent, especially for being so young. Many people who have been playing for 25 years have never reached their level. I haven't written them off; I'll be checking in on them from time to time to see how they're developing. I just don't think they've reached their potential yet, and RIGHT NOW they're music is not for me. Hopefully, that will change in the future. Take care, my friend! :)

    • @egodreas
      @egodreas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No roasting from this fan. Although I certainly do not agree, as I think this song is about as well crafted as can be. But that is of course largely a matter of taste, and tastes differ. I think if you listen to more of their songs, you will notice that this was far from all of their skills put into the one track. They are very, very versatile, and have much more to offer. Some songs are straight forward heavy metal, but there is also groovy blues or experimental and progressive metal with jazz influence. Overall, I'd say it's generally very well crafted and mature music, which is extra surprising considering their age. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of songs in their catalogue that you would find enjoyable. Although I guess there's no real reason to force yourself to try and like them. There's so much great music out there, and we can't all like all of it.
