Man, this kinda hurts my heart, to see a physical manifestation of my childhood, now decrepit, weather-worn and falling a part. This is haunting to me. It's a Ghost Set.
Now you know how I feel about Disney whenever I see the crap they produce, today. It used to be great in my childhood, but now... Still, seeing this walk thru of a classic set is nice, like going thru an old ghost town, and a movement should be made to at least preserve it's remains.
Idk but this video makes me sad :'( guess cuz Nickelodeon in the 90's was such a huge part of my childhood and now it's all abandoned and crushed like my childhood dreams *sigh*
This is sooo surreal!! I feel so blessed I got to have the chance to experience the 90s. I was born in 1988 and am now 27. I remember watching old school nick at my grandmas house all the time as a kid! I remember this show too. So surreal watching where they did this and how it looked then and now. :) thanks for posting this!
lol ya ....he's in the California area at the moment to.... i found the location online....they filmed the show at Franklin Canyon Park in Los Angeles, who knows..maybe some of the buildings are abandoned
I wish they would rebuild the whole set again and make more episodes with the whole cast again. And where the heck is Danny, some say he died, and some say he works on cars some place in NJ or New York. I hope he's alive somewhere. Do you have the dvds? I'm glad they even sell them now to relive memories. I want to visit the set too even though it's too sad to look at.
Tammie Puopolo I have doubts that the cast would come back to do the show again. As for rebuilding the set it was built on property that is owned by a resort and who knows if the place has changed hands over the years. I do not own any of the dvds.
Yeah I don't think the cast would either, when they spoke at the texas convention, they didn't seem interested. Kelly Brown spoke as if she missed the show though. I hope they don't bull dowse the place , even if it's in rough shape.
I believe Adam is the first person to post a video from the location. Before this, there were two websites that had many pictures from the site. There was one video a long while back on youtube. some people did a parody of Hey Jude by the Beatles, except it was all about the show. The first website died, the other is still around and shows pictures of some stuff Adam didn't get on video. I've seen, through pictures, over the years how the place is slowly falling apart. I have Hey Dude on dvd and it's sad to see the location like this. The pond that Adam comes across is what's left of Lake Benjamin. Since the last time I saw pics of the "lake" it looks like the pond has lost a lot more water. The corral is still used by the local Tanque Verde resort by what I was told. The boy's bunk is the building Adam first shows. The girl's bunk was next door but was destroyed since it was just a facade and the boy's bunk doubled for the girls' bunk. The guest's lodging and bell tower was also destroyed since it was also a facade. Mr. Earnst's office and guest check in area was the only building with central air. The pool was never in the location, it was actually over at the Tanque verde resort and it still is. I can't remember where, but that little statue Adam finds knocked on the ground with the head broken was right outside one of the buildings. Just can't remember where.
this is the only one I could find. It's just pictures. The other one no longer exists and had a ton of pics. This one just has a few. imgur.com/a/lJDyV
I think i live by there and also I did videos i havet unloaded it yet its in Avondale az behind Harkins now it's all toren down they have a apartment complex there now
I suggested you visit this location over a year ago and you made it happen, Cap'n! Thanks so much. (I'll pretend you did it for me because I have a fragile self-esteem and could use the boost.)
This was my favorite show as a kid! My Grandpa took me to the set (BraNone) when I was a kid at the Tanque Verde Ranch, I was shocked and heartbroken to discover we’d arrived months after the show had stopped filming. Still one of my best memories with my Grandpa, we went to Pima Air Museum, and I set in JFK’s Air Force One.
It would have been better with stills if he couldn't use video clips. I don't recall what's it supposed to look like or what I was looking at most of this video. Stills would have helped.
Your TH-cam account has become one of my favorite TH-cam accounts to follow because of these videos. This was interesting but it would have been better if you provided clips from the show to compare the present day sites with.
Damn. This hurts my heart. People are savages. That place should be a carefully preserved shrine! That show was magic. Looking back, the acting was pretty rough, but all of those old Nickelodeon shows had a depth that they just don't capture today... But, maybe that's just something old people say. lol I remember the episode where Ted was leaving and he sung the cheesy song "Goodbye to Ted goodbye".. I used to watch that show every day after school. I was in love with Brad as I'm sure most of us 30 something year olds were. Thanks for sharing this man. A little weird to have the curtain pulled back only to reveal THIS, though...
It's a little wild and a little strange. When you make your home out on the range. Grab your boots and come along because you can't get a ride if you can't hold on.
zeke the plumber in salute your shorts freaked me out for years I was little and my mom had to go out and buy me a plunger so I could protect myself lol
One of your best videos in a while, Adam! Would've been neat if you'd have spliced in some old footage for comparison, though. Figure most of that stuff would've been fair use. :3
It's a little wild and a little strange... When you make a set out on the range.... Start your horse, but you know that, because the Bar None is Starting to look like Pripyat... singing yippee tye yi yeah...yippee ti yi what?... look at all the decay.... yippee ti yi yay.... till the break of day... Better watch out for those breaking floorboards, and that killer falling Spanish Tile. HEY DUDE!
I hope you were able to watch out those killer cacti! :) So fun revisiting the Bar None. Missing Mr. Ernst, Brad, Ted, Danny & the gang so much now! Ohh the golden days of Nickelodeon studios I like your running commentary throughout your videos! My favorite is the comment when you trip up the stairs at the school in Jacksonville :)
So very sad too see the place like that. This was hands down my favorite show when I was little, with Salute your shorts coming in behind it. I had a mega crush on Ted, & also didn't think Kyle or Jake were too bad looking either. Recently picked up the entire DVD set at Wal-Mart. Watching this show again as an adult, what really struck me is what a good, wholesome show this was. It was very cleverly written as well, & I enjoyed many laughs while watching it again. It's a shame what the kids are watching nowadays. I remember wanting to visit the Tanque Verde (sp?) Ranch when I was little so that perhaps I could catch a glimpse of the cast. So nice to see that they all grew up to be well adjusted adults, which can't be said for many of the children's show stars of today. Thank you Hey Dude for such a great show.
This is EXCELLENT!! Remember this as a teen and very early twenties. Sad to see this left like this but hey time moves on and tastes and kids change I suppose. RIP.
I saw some EPs of it...but was a little too cool for Hey Dude...so I thought. I loved salute your shorts and Pete and Pete and are u afraid of the dark
The funny thing is the first ever video that I ever saw of yours last year was the Nickelodeon Studios one lol, but loved all of those nick shows, Boy do I miss them a lot!!
Hey I was wondering how you were able to get behind the scenes to see the old set. It's literally on my top 5 bucketlist. I called the ranch Tanque Verde Ranch. They said they don't let anyone back there to see it but it is literally a life goal to see this thing. Can you please offer any suggestions?
I never watched Hey Dude, you would think growing up in the 90s I should have, but I have a soft spot for all things vintage Nickelodeon (except Ren and Stimpy). Seeing this is pretty awesome, it made my childhood smile!
Older cartoons had adult situations in them, Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, and even The Powerpuff Girls, but was subtle enough that kids wouldn't notice or understand, it allowed my parents to actually enjoy those cartoons with me as a kid. Today's programming has NOTHING for the adult crowd to pick up on. Which is why they are indeed, lame.
I never seen the show or known of it being I was born in 1991. But I find this depressingly delightful if that makes sense :) Seeing abandoned history.
Man, I loved that show during it's short run! I could almost hear the theme song echoing throughout the place as you toured! "It's a little wild, it's a little strange, When you make your home out on the range!" I can't help but wonder what the actual stars of this show are doing today and how they would feel if they were to come back to this place!
Love your shows! VERY interesting! However, would love it if you would invest in a microphone sock--so the wind noise does not cover your narration. Great show, and thanks for doing this!
I used to watch that show when I was little, kind of sad to see that stuff abandoned, Nickelodeon used to have good shows back then and now they don't.
Damn this is odd. I googled the set tonight and went to try youtube to see if anybody got the set on video and you just posted it lol. Wish you had more video of it.
When I was watching Nostalgia Critic's Nickcoms video, the only thing I could think about was ''That place must be abandoned in the middle of nowhere''
The set is on the property of the Tanque Verde Ranch- it's an all inclusive resort in Tuscon. It's about a 5 minute walk from the main buildings of the resort. Pretty cool, saw the set while on vacation there.
Damn thats sad, but in a way its pretty amazing after 25 plus years, some of that stuff is still there, loved this show as a kid, a shame they let it go to waste like that.
Just wanna say I'm a Tucson native, this is the Tanque Verde guest ranch, maybe the set abandoned, but the guest ranch still operational. They have a grrrrreat Sunday brunch.
Someone should have the guts to go out there with a construction crew and rebuild it up for nostalgia purposes. Then who knows what could become of the space again.
Whenever I follow the trail back to see who was the first one to film an abandoned place it almost always traces back to Adam, lol he really doesn't get the respect he deserves.
I used to watch this show all the time, when I was a kid. Good memories! :) Christine Taylor (Melody) is now married to Ben Stiller; she made it into Hollywood!!!
wow this is great to see the real set. I wish they had more seasons, it seems with the last episode they didn't really wrap up the story , it just seem like a random episode. I think they should do a follow up of the show with all the cast again, like what their doing on Girl Meets World ( like boy meets world). Thanks for posting.
Was that some sort of a case left behind at 6:00 ? Wonder what was in that. Some of the equipment it seems strange they would leave behind. Guess it would have cost more to transport out than it was worth.
Is it possible to insert before and after shots of the set,or is that too Herve? FYI, the Bar None Ranch name was recycled on a recent episode of Raising Hope.

It’s just a replication of your own life Falling apart your dreams all destroyed
Maybe, the ghosts of the past still linger...
You should see it now

Dearest Adam,
This is easily the best recon you have ever done, please do more that bring back nostalgia for us 80's kids!
Damn I miss Arizona so much. Thanks for this Adam, it brought me back to when I was a kid playing around in desert with my friends.
This video is so rare to see but so sad, it's almost hard not to cry seeing this. Thanks for posting, I hope they don't tear this special place down.
Tammie Puopolo about 5 buildings still stand but in varied states of disrepair.
I wish they would rebuild the whole set again and make more episodes with the whole cast again. Tammie Puopolo the buildings are being used as storage by the current property owners don't think they will remove them any time soon.
On the bright side, at least you weren't killed by any man-eating jackrabbits during your visit.
Don't forget that killer cacti
Haaa

ADAM THE WOO!!!! Go to some abandoned airports!
Man, my absolute FAVORITE show as a kid growing up! Thank you so much for the memory refresh!
I used to watch Hey Dude all the time as a kid. This video was kind of depressing...
That's one show I probably would have not wanted to work on. Looks pretty hot in the desert. I really miss the days of cheesy awesome Nick shows.
I suggested you visit this location over a year ago and you made it happen, Cap'n! Thanks so much. (I'll pretend you did it for me because I have a fragile self-esteem and could use the boost.)

You didn't splice any footage from the show for comparison. Disappointed, bruh.
depletable it’s called not getting copyrighted
Old school woo video

Adam, you are the man. Ive always wanted to go there. Loved Hey Dude back in the day. Thanks a million
Does anyone else ever wonder if Adam has hurt himself on one of these? I feel like a lot of these places could cave at any minute.
Hey Dude, Adam. that was awesome to show this. You know you wanted a souvenir.
wow, with THAT intro, you are creepier than the unknown cameraman
nah I kid, you are more relaxing, i like the humor.
do u know where the salute your shorts filming location was?
Does Adam ever respond to comments?
Salute your shorts was filmed at Frankin Cayon Park in L.A.

+Nicole C. I agree, it's a bit haunting to see the set like this. This show reminds me of the last great years of my childhood.
This show was funny. I remember watching it as reruns. Pete & Pete and Salute your Shorts were my two favorite Nickelodeon comedies.
This is EXCELLENT!! Remember this as a teen and very early twenties. Sad to see this left like this but hey time moves on and tastes and kids change I suppose. RIP.
pretty cool adam, thank you for posting! oh, the steinway mansion in astoria,ny is up for sale, it hasn't been lived in for four years....
I saw some EPs of it...but was a little too cool for Hey Dude...so I thought. I loved salute your shorts and Pete and Pete and are u afraid of the dark

I think he was banned from the Premises of Walt Disney World.
albusron3490 That's irrelevant because it's shutdown and he would be illegally trespassing regardless of being banned.
Pretty cool to see that was actually filmed in the desert and not on some studio back lot in a big city
the intro scares the shit outta me i swear he makes me turn my speakers way up and forget again by the next vid
Thanks for posting this! It was my favorite show as a kid. I was a weird kid, I know.
did you watch out for jack rabbits? and that killer cacti
I smoked some too just now I'm sooo scared my heart is on beat with the theme song
This....was awesome. Thank you so much. I LOVED this show and this brought back so many memories. :(
Njoyed your interview on the MONSTERS this morning. Keep safe on your new adventures Markie
I remember this tv show. Although I never watched it regularly. Just remember seeing clips of it when I flipped through the channels.
If you're here whining about how Nickelodeon no longer has good programming, just remind yourself that you are no longer in their target demographic.
EMPiiRE Ren and Stimpy, old SpongeBob CatDog. Yah, they had quite a few Gems among their shows.
EMPiiRE You just put "Ren and Stimpy" on your list of subtle shows. Go have a seat and think about your actions.
Rocko's Modern Life
EMPiiRE Man, those were the days.
I never seen the show or known of it being I was born in 1991. But I find this depressingly delightful if that makes sense :) Seeing abandoned history.
Crazy to see it in such a state, after watching the show so much when I was a kid. Thanks for bringing back some fun memories!

Well, one of them is married to Ben Stiller.
i live in Arizona... gotta say you really should be careful walking through the bushes like that. a good way to get bit by something poisonous
Love your shows! VERY interesting! However, would love it if you would invest in a microphone sock--so the wind noise does not cover your narration. Great show, and thanks for doing this!
Awesome! I remember talking about Hey Dude! Brings back memories for sure.
Thanks for archiving our lost childhood memories! :(
I used to watch that show when I was little, kind of sad to see that stuff abandoned, Nickelodeon used to have good shows back then and now they don't.
Do you ever take a souvenir from the movie places you go to?
This is something I'd never thought I would see. Good work Adam.
Damn this is odd. I googled the set tonight and went to try youtube to see if anybody got the set on video and you just posted it lol. Wish you had more video of it.
I use to watch this show with my daughter when she was about 9-10, Never missed and episode. Need more stuff like that show now days.
Great, now I'll have the Hey Dude theme song stuck in my head for a week! lol
When I was watching Nostalgia Critic's Nickcoms video, the only thing I could think about was ''That place must be abandoned in the middle of nowhere''
Where was salute your shorts filmed?
The show was filmed on location on top of an old Indian burial ground.
wasn't that in an episode? lol, with the hand in the box. that episode terrified me as a kid.
Are you sure?
Could be why a great show like "Hey Dude" only lasted a couple years.

Whenever I follow the trail back to see who was the first one to film an abandoned place it almost always traces back to Adam, lol he really doesn't get the respect he deserves.
hey Adam do you ever take stuff from these places as like a souvenir
Would have been perfect had he edited in shots from the show into what he was filming.
It's a little wild and a little strange, when Adam the Woo is on the Range! Say again now. Mobile Instinct was recently here and uploaded to YT.
Invest in a stabilizer and this would be one of my favorite channels of all time
I used to watch this show all the time, when I was a kid. Good memories! :) Christine Taylor (Melody) is now married to Ben Stiller; she made it into Hollywood!!!
I wish more shows like this come back on television
The show sucked.
Thank you for ur videos all good. Shame nothing usually ever becomes of any of these places .
Loved this show when I was little sad to see it now. How do you find this stuff adam my personal fav is day of the dead video I'm a huge Romero fan
wow this is great to see the real set. I wish they had more seasons, it seems with the last episode they didn't really wrap up the story , it just seem like a random episode. I think they should do a follow up of the show with all the cast again, like what their doing on Girl Meets World ( like boy meets world). Thanks for posting.
You should do another video using split screen pairing how it looks now with some of the scenes from the show.
Awesome!!! I loved this show as a kid, and I've recently been watching the DVD's. I'd love to see this in person. How the heck did you find it?
Working for Nickelodeon as a set designer must have been really fun.
Thanks Adam. I don't thin I would have the guts to even try to explore the area if I found it. You have big time guts and be careful.
Please find the Salute Your Shorts filming locations as well!
Was that some sort of a case left behind at 6:00 ? Wonder what was in that.
Some of the equipment it seems strange they would leave behind. Guess it would have cost more to transport out than it was worth.
are you going to do any more of those kinds of video love them there great
Hard to believe that it’s all even still standing from the late 80s/early 90s
Heyyyyyyy Dude!! Brings back childhood memories!:)
Is it possible to insert before and after shots of the set,or is that too Herve? FYI, the Bar None Ranch name was recycled on a recent episode of Raising Hope.
Wow. I so loved this show when I was a kid! Thanks for the video!
you have any background on why they chose location, seems super desolate... figure theyd film in cali being theres parts that look similar
