I watched every episode of Hey Dude as a kid, and you know what? I can’t remember anything. Not one episode. Not one plot line. His name was Danny? MR. EARNST! That just came to my head. I won’t subject anyone to that kind of filth, but sufficed to say, it was good times. Great video! Glad he’s ok.
I vaguely remember two plot lines. 1. Mr Earnst’s son accidentally broke his dad’s credit card trying to open a door. Then at the end of the episode, he was saved when a replacement card arrived in the mail saying to destroy the old one 2. Mr Earnst hand carved a directional sign for one of the activity cabins and kept getting sidetracked every time he went to hang it up. Once he finally did, it was pointing the wrong way

Hey Dude was one of our favorites as kids, my brother, sister, and I would watch it religiously. Now when I see the “hey dude” shoes, it always brings me back full nostalgia.
The ruins of the Hey Dude set are still out in the AZ desert. I think it's on private property? There's a video on youtube of a guy exploring the ruins. Pretty cool. A lot of recognizable stuff is still out there 30+ years later.
It's not ruins. It's a working guest ranch that caters to very wealthy guests and celebrities. Both of my kids worked as wranglers there. I remember taking my daughter to visit Tanque Verde Guest ranch after watching the show. Even my daughter in law worked there. Nice people, beautiful ranch.

This show taught me what "spontaneous combustion" is. I used this phrase talking to my dad when i was 4 or 5 years old. He was like "where the hell did you learn that?" Hey dude, thats where.
A few takeaways from this. 1.) I have never seen any of your content before until now, but I'm a huge Hey Dude fan. 2.) since I have never seen any of your content before I was sitting here, washing it while drinking orange juice and spit my drink out at 3:30 😂 3.) I am so happy to hear Joe is alive. I remember years ago spending hours searching the Internet trying to figure out whatever happened to him. Mystery solved. 5.) Seeing an updated photo of Danny was a little shocking but to hear that familiar voice after all these years was heartwarming. Thank you for posting this video. Please post more Hey Dude content!
Thanks for checking out the video... my channel is very new... only 2 months old I think. So thanks for checking it out and hopefully I earned your SUB. I think the rumor is they will try to make Splat con happen next year. I am currently working on another Hey Dude video a full History and Retrospective of the series BUT it will take a little time to edit ha ha ha - So stay tuned
Glad to hear he is still alive and well. When the put hey dude out on dvd years ago I picked it up and gave it a rewatch. In doing so I looked online to see what all the cast had been up to since. Always wondered what happened to him whenever I didn’t see anything online.
Hey Dude was one of my favorite Nickelodeon shows back in the day. For many years I have wondered what happened to Joe Torres A.K.A. Danny. That's so awesome.
I wonder if SplatCon's cancelation was in part due to Quiet on Set and increased negative perception of Nickelodeon. Dan Schneider started becoming big as I was aging out of Nickelodeon and I only really watched All That. Never heard much drama about the earlier Nick shows other than Ren and Stimpy/John K. Anyway, bravo for capturing some of the magic of my childhood as well as solving the mystery of my adulthood nostalgia.
I think it was more about poor marketing and promotion.... I live here in SoCal and I didn't even hear about it 😅. I can maybe seeing it happen next year now that more people know about it OR the will attach it to another con - like a smaller comic con.
Yeah, I saw a sub reddit finding out about the con due to its cancelation so that's the likely and unfortunate culprit. I did rewatch PushingUpRoses's retrospective on these shows and the biggest drama with this show was due to the Tuscon heat. The cast had a great experience otherwise and David Brisbin was making the cast crack up when the cameras weren't rolling. Glad to hear not all Nick shows have dark secrets.
From a lot of my research mostly all the very early 90s shows have very good experiences with cast and crew.... Mostly because they had so much freedom to do what they wanted. Thus they had fun making their craft.
@@Wild1Unknown Remember The Tomorrow People 1992-1995 series? Adam Pearce, the guy who played Kevin as a kid was on TH-cam about 12 years ago commenting on the episodes that were posted, recommending people buy the import DVDs of the series. I guess in his 30s he still looked back fondly at his acting experience. Naomie Harris, Kristian Schmid and Christian Tessier have all kept acting.
I think Torres is an example of what happens to many, perhaps even most, actors. They have one good gig that gets them some visibility, but then nothing really happens after that and they find other lives. Only a small fraction of actors end up having recurring gigs that launch them to fame.
I never once watched this show, but it was my wife's favorite as a kid. So, I watched your video. Well done. Can't wait to let her know the good news in the morning. She'll be happy to hear Danny is doing well.

Good to see he’s doing well. I watched as a kid and in the late 90s moved to Tucson. Surprised to learn recently that the filming location is only about 25 mins from where I grew up.
I would love to see it. There are a few TH-camrs that have done follow ups on the filming location. It’s still there just falling apart is all. Still would be cool to see.
I'm honestly surprised you cared enough to look this guy up. There's nothing wrong with that. I loved this show as a kid, but I never thought about the show ever since, lol.
Ha ha ha honestly it was something I would always see pop up on the internet, reddit, discord etc..... So I was like heck... lets see what I can find... I was curious ha haha

I vaguely remember the episode where Mr Ernst had to eat nothing but carrots because he was convinced he had a deathly illness. I also remember one episode where Danny was upset because a local burial spot was found and excavated, it's items being put on display. I remember him picking up the bow as if he were shooting a deer, and saying "Meat for the family, moccasins for the whole tribe." I only ever remember Budnick being in Terminator as far as old tv stars go.
Its funny how you remember certain pieces like that. Budnick was in the show Salute your short which I do have a few videos on. You can check them out here: th-cam.com/play/PLRJo80RDCmYDsvfqXB7M5zyR2cxWhjf2j.html
I remember someone on the cast was going fishing and they asked him something a long the lines of “Danny do you have any ancient Native American fishing tricks?” And he basically responded “ yeah go to the supermarket” He delivered the line perfectly and I remember being 10 years old or so and just cracking up. He had a natural dry delivery that was hilarious.
Anyone else remember those giant satellite dishes? Those were the days! But when we moved, we weren't allowed to have one of those eye sores. It was against the 'deed restrictions.' So we got one of the small cable boxes or whatever they were.
I loved Hey Dude! I had forgotten all about it but just the thumbnail brought it all back. The theme, the characters, episodes. Hell I still remember one of the horses' names. It was Rocket. Pilot episode.

Agreed… I think people were fascinated with this one because they have found memories of Danny and the actor that played him and perhaps… they would find more of him in another show or film.
I watched Hey Dude when it originally aired. It was arguably the second most forgettable Nickelodeon show of that era, with Welcome Freshman taking that dubious honor. The only things I remember are that owner's name is Mr. Ernst, there was an episode about some real cash getting mixed up with Monopoly money during a power outage, Ted had to dress up as a fairy at the end of that same episode, Melody wore a blue swimsuit and trained to be an Olympic swimmer, Danny fell off a ladder, and there was some misunderstanding about filmmakers blowing up the ranch. Glad to see there are others keeping the memory of this series alive.

I had no idea. Nickelodeon was trying to get all these stars back together. It's really sad They weren't able to have the meet up, but I hope they are able to reschedule it. 4.) I am so happy to hear Joe is alive.
I am glad I could help solve the mystery for ya and thanks for watching.
Hey Dude was one of my favorite Nickelodeon shows back in the day. For many years I have wondered what happened to Joe Torres A.K.A. Danny. That's so awesome.
I am glad I could finally answer it for you.
Thank you, I'm glad Joe is doing well and still around.
I am glad he is doing well too
I wonder if SplatCon's cancelation was in part due to Quiet on Set and increased negative perception of Nickelodeon.
Yeah - that is a great way to look at it. I am a little surprised he didn't go into something like Voice Acting. He has such a unique voice.
I never once watched this show, but it was my wife's favorite as a kid. So, I watched your video. Well done. Can't wait to let her know the good news in the morning. She'll be happy to hear Danny is doing well.
I say score some point and tell her you found this video and you want her to watch it 😝

I forgot this show existed. I recall liking it as a kid. Now I want to watch some episodes with my kids .Thanks

@@SportsSharp412 Same here! I was like where was this friend from the 90s I missed out on haha
Yeah Danny always had dry and clam responses ha ha ha

Yall were so lucky to have cable in the 90s 😭
I know right! We had so many good shows
Anyone else remember those giant satellite dishes? Those were the days! But when we moved, we weren't allowed to have one of those eye sores. It was against the 'deed restrictions.' So we got one of the small cable boxes or whatever they were.
Cable boxes were way better than dishes in the early 90s ha ha ha - less issues with them 😝

3:29 You spoke for us all!
I used to run home from middle school so I wouldn’t miss a minute of Hey Dude. Danny was my over all fav, but it wasn’t lost on me that his acting was lilted if not dry. I was so excited when Melody married Ben Stiller in real life. She had the best comedic delivery of all of them, dork boss included.
But there was something about Danny, he was perfect.
I remember getting off the school bus and running home so I wouldn't miss the opening scene and into song ha ha ha

Favorite episode was either the capture the flag episode or the one where Ted tries to prove he’s the bravest and stays in the “haunted bunkhouse”.
I remember the boys VS girls and the rainmaker episode the most 😝

Hey dude! Loved that show! It was one of my favorites.
Its a great one to go back and watch for all the funny storylines and plots 😝
Thanks for watching and supporting.
It’s funny how you can remember certain shows right off the bat 😂😂😂. Those old school tv memories
