For a bike, I'd say that it needs to 1. fit your budget 2. have safe, reliable parts (if this means getting an older, yet higher quality bike for your budget, rather than a lower quality new bike, than so be it) 3. make sense for your area. It sounds like you'll have some climbing to do, so get a bike with a decent cassette range if you can. Honestly, the best thing I can recommend is to head into your local shop, let them know your budget and see what they say. They'll have a good idea of what will work best for your area, whether its what they sell or not.. Hope that helps!
That first trail you did was one of my favorites. We had to ride that on the way to the racecourse, and it was scary how fast you could plow down it. I didn't ride much there but It's one of the places I really want to get back to.
Totally. I love it. A while back I borrowed a proper DH rig just to ride that one trail as fast as I could and it was bonkers (of course I had a flat at the end of it though...) So much fun. Let me know if you ever want to come out man!

Great video! I was really hoping to get out to kicking horse this season but things came up. Atleast I got to go to silverstar and whistler which are my 2 favorite hills! How would you say pioneer compares to "In Deep?
awesome looking trails, have you seen the new GoPro that just came out recently? it apparently has the equivalent of a gimbal built inside of it, thinking instead of getting the Hero 5 from Costco and then buying a gimbal separately I’ll just save up for that one and save a bit of money by buying that one.
Ya I've been paying close attention to the Hero 7 Black. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will replace a gopro/gimbal combo for me as it just can't keep up with high speed, rough trails :( One day I'll ditch that gimbal though, hopefully!
We had to race pioneer with a creek flowing down it a few years back, pretty scary lemme tell ya. Also I think stick rock is way scarier then pioneer, jus sayin
