  • Big White Bike Park is the new kid on the block, but their tech trails are giving every other park a run for its money! Seriously, I was blown away by every trail we hit. That's crazy.

    Just watched this again for the 100th time. You gotta come back and see what we have been up to. Probably doubled the trail network since you were here last. 4 new freeride/flow and some great tech too. Bring the whole family this time.

    days for the first time with my mountain biking group and I know you will not see this but its so cool that you have been to my city's biking trails but if you ever come back you should ride some of the non lift mountains like Knox mountain or smith creek or our skills park in Rutland.

    Yeah Catapult Ranch is pretty gnarly. I rode the trail with Luc at the end of last season (it was muddy out) and I went right over the bars. Totally wrecked my visor and mouth guard.
    Granted it was after all the hard stuff, we were like pretty much done the trail lol. But yeah gnarly stuff, indeed.

    I live at this resort and where he said that it’s steeper then it looks. It really is, that is one of the steeper loft lines on the mountain called the ridge rocket and snow ghost and I would say that’s a black diamond steep run. Also if you are thinking that those tech runs look hard but not impossible I would not ride them the are so steep that you would not enjoy your ride

    Nice trails! Here in europe it always looks a bit different.
    If you ass is hitting your rear wheel the wheel is too big. I use 27,5+ rear in my Evolink 158. Little more space now. With your size maybe 26" rear and 29" front would be great but therefore we need a new designed frame :D.

    i have currently an enduro comp 29 and i am not happy, would you think the evolink is more polivalent and better for all mountain and longer days in the saddle than the enduro, and the rocky compare to the enduro as well..??
    thanks from spain, congrats for your chanel

    Ryan - Killer trailer/footage. One suggestion to add to any type of trail footage is to provide us with a 2/3 views coming towards the camera, especially on a couple of the cool rock feature. This gives us, the viewer, the "gnarly" factor view. The one back view you gave without riding just shows how steep the feature looked. You add a couple of riding views the pucker factor goes up!! As you indicated, chest mounted/GoPro footage is always flatten out, on any trail ride. Another option, which most viewers, love is the camera view from behind, one of my favorites. Multiple camera shoots, while it might double the work, doubles the quality of the product. Behind Seth, you have become the best narrator in this crowded field. Keep up the good work, love the videos!!
    Just a suggestion...

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Will! Totally agree. Unfortunately most times when I’m riding/filming like this, I’m on a super short timeline. In this case I had two hours total...including the time to get up the lift over and over again! You’ll be seeing some more 3rd person coverage on the channel soon though 👌🏼

    I rode there this summer, not even comparable to Silverstar! There were either boring green trails that get old very fast, or bloody insane tech, I did successfully ride every tech trail and even compared to whistler which I rode shortly after big white was much more difficult. They really need more options, Trails like Hot Tub and Black Mamba are great but don't last much more than a minute. Big White is more of a half day bike park, once you get tired of tech, well, guess you gotta drive to another mountain lol. Silverstar is almost the exact same distance from Kelowna and is so so so so much better! Very comparable to whistler! They offer insane flow, wood, and tech trails! Totally recommend. I also ended up racing there for Canada cup DH and the course was insane!

    • @hobmarg
      @hobmarg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? The stuff at Big White is harder than Whistler double blacks or the DH track at Silverstar? It looks fun but not super gnarly on this vid. I want to check it out.

    • @jaredgulaga8367
      @jaredgulaga8367 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hobmarg different type of riding that I personally find more difficult. The DH track at silver star was very comparable.

    • @hobmarg
      @hobmarg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaredgulaga8367 That's cool, I actually really really enjoy the tech stuff at Silverstar I find it has a bit more fall line/steeps to it than Whistler which is rough but mostly flat/bench cut. Will check out Big White next summer!

    • @jaredgulaga8367
      @jaredgulaga8367 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a different type of riding that I didn’t really enjoy. The 2 trails shown in this video are the easiest of the hard trail range in the mountain. Knockout was really hard!!

    • @hobmarg

    Do you have advice on how to get a more realistic perspective on the steepness? Are we stuck getting 3rd person for a more realistic view of how steep things are?

    • @JW23551
      @JW23551 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I usually watch the trees, the perspective is still a little goofy with the wide angle lens on the GoPro though. I try to pay attention to angle, and how tall they are compared to the other rider.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What Jonathan said is very accurate. Angle of trees is the best indicator. Other than 3rd person footage, the only other way to convey steepness would be overlaid data on the screen, which I might try in the future.

    • @azdirtlife4280
      @azdirtlife4280 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheLoamRanger well I am SOL when in comes to trees on my local trails. Looks like I may be trying to overlay data or splicing in 3rd person.
