    This is my story...
    I have struggled with weight issues for most of my life. I'd lose some, then gain it and more back every time. I have tried it all: fasting, Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, Herbalife, Slimfast, Adkins, South Beach... you name a fad diet in the past 30 years and I have probably tried it and FAILED!
    In late December 2021 my wife and I moved to Oklahoma City for work. I looked at this as a 'fresh new start' and I decided that I was going to start a new diet/lifestyle just after the first of the year and so on January 10, 2022, I made the change I needed to and that lasted about a month. I struggled HARD to lose weight. In April of that year I hurt my right knee really bad and had to see a specialist about that. He gave me this look after checking out my knee, and then he looked away towards the wall. He did this a couple times until I finally said to him, "Doc are you telling me I need to lose weight?" and he replied something fancy that essentially meant "YES!!".
    That started me right there on a journey. I *HAD* to lose weight. He was the FIRST ever doc to tell me that, so this would be my motivation... however, a stop by Taco Bell on the way home first was needed since I would be 'going without'.
    Over the next 4 months I lost and maintained a loss of just 35lbs when I finally set up an appointment with my new Primary Care Physician. I dreaded that appointment as I just knew that she would want to talk about weight and sure enough, about 15 minutes into it she asked me about my weight and if I was interested in losing it. I told her "it's not like I enjoy having it, Doc". She then mentioned Mounjaro to me and I fought her on it immediately. I told her I didn't want to inject into my body something that wasn't meant for it, being that Mounjaro was a medicine for those with Type 2 Diabetes, and I didn't have that. She understood and eventually talked me into trying it. I gave in, reluctantly, and I agreed to 3 months. I told her that if it didn't work in 3 months, I don't want to hear anything else from her again about my weight. That I would give it my best for those 3 months and if it fails, it fails and nothing else can be said.
    I took my first Mounjaro shot around 9:15am on September 2, 2022 and I weighed 560lbs at that time. Videos on this channel detail my journey from then until now as I have lost over 170lbs since that first shot, even though I have not been able to take the medication as prescribed for various reasons, one being cost. This medicine really is life changing and these videos are the story of how Mounjaro changed my life for the better....

    Congratulations on keeping on trying. You got this!! A treadmill is hard and worth it.

      Thank you! I really wish something like this had happened years ago, when I was younger. This whole process has changed my mentality about so many things. My relationship not only with food but exercise has really changed. It’s been amazing. ❤️

    For the headaches and dizziness try drinking water before/during your exercise. Also it may help to have a little protein before you exercise. Of course, talk to your doctor to be sure all is OK. You have lost a significant amount of weigjt. That's fantastic and a testament to your dedication! Have you started any weight training to counteract muscle loss which happens with weight loss, whether with a GLP medication or using any other method. You are an inspiration.

      Hey, thank you! I typically have breakfast before I do my walk now (unlike my first day of this month as seen in the video). I also always have water with me when I walk. As for the dizziness, doc believes it’s mostly due to massive scarring in my right ear due to many, many, many nasty ear infections when I was younger. So far I’ve just been walking. It wasn’t that long ago that my doc told me I could do that even. It was well over a year after I started Mounjaro before she gave me the “OK” to even start walking for exercise (which means the vast majority of what I lost involved ZERO exercise). I’m sure when she feels that’s right, we’ll add other things as well. 😀

    Hi again Ken! Congratulations on your successes, both on the treadmill; and with your weight loss. I may have missed a video regarding not being able to take a weekly injection. Is it due to insurance? If so, have you appealed? Sending good wishes your way for continued success. Your journey is inspiring! 🎉🥳💪

      Hey! Thank you! And yes, it’s an insurance thing and yes, we have appealed every which way possible over the last year plus. My PCP has been AMAZING when it comes to filling out paperwork to appeal… my INS just won’t budge. So, long ago I started stretching them out with great success, but then I started going further and further and that’s where I ran into trouble. I think my sweet spot is 2 weeks apart. We shall see what happens over the next few weeks as I stretch it and see how my weight reacts on weeks where I take the shot vs weeks where I don’t. 🤔

    7 pounds in one week is crushing it!!! 🎊 🎉 Are you paying full price for Mounjaro? I recall a previous video where you said you were denied for insurance coverage (which is total BS)! There is an online place called Orderly Meds where you can get compounded trizepitide and semaglutide for $249 - $399, depending on which you choose. They use Red Rock Pharmacy. It is highly rated. Maybe check them out so you can take weekly shots? Keep up the great work and keep us posted on what the doctor has to say about your head.

      Hey. Yes, I’m paying full price out of pocket. At least now with Zepbound, the savings card does work for me though. I have looked into compounds and I’ve been quite leery myself actually. When I did check out pricing, vs the savings card, the savings wasn’t that much honestly… not enough to get me to change over. Now, had I had that chance when I was on lower doses, which are much cheaper… I’d have probably done that long ago!
      The doc said I have massive scarring in my right ear from many, many, many ear infections when I was younger (and yep, I vividly remember them!). He set up an MRI for me on 6/21, and depending on what it shows, we have a couple routes to go from there. 🙏🏻🤞

    I am still relatively new to you Ken so I have a question for you.. why are you not able to inject weekly?

    • @FatGuyNoMore
      @FatGuyNoMore  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That’s an easy answer: Cost. I got my first 2 boxes back in Sept of 2022 at $25. Ever since I’ve had to pay FULL PRICE out of pocket for it. That’s ranged from $1000-1350 per box. So I learned early on that I could stretch out my shots. That the side effects that I wanted (like no food noise and appetite suppression) would clearly still be there at least 2 weeks between shots. Unlike lots of other people who continued to get it for $25/box or even $25 for THREE boxes, I did not. I fought and fought with my insurance company and they wouldn’t budge. For Mounjaro I had to be T2D for them to cover it (and thus allow me to use the savings card). They wouldn’t even simply reject coverage since I am not T2D, which would also have allowed me to use that savings card. Nope! Wouldn’t say “No!”. So I was stuck paying FP OOP or I just didn’t get this life changing medicine. Luckily we had some “use it or lose it” $ on an HSA that allowed me 3 boxes and I learned how to play the HSA game (tax free, payments over a year and so on) to be able to do more… but I can’t be paying $12,000-$16,200/year for this. Had the compound versions been available back then, that would have changed everything and saved me $. Now, it’s still roughly $500/month for compounds when you add it all up, which saves me $50 vs getting to use the savings card for Zepbound. Even at that price, I stretch a box into 2 months. Maybe I should try doing a shot a week for a while and see how that goes?? 🤔
      As I sit here now, my last shot was May 3rd. That’s almost 2 weeks ago (come Friday it will be 2 weeks). I struggle to eat even 1300 calories a day. Yesterday I didn’t get 1300. I felt like I ate all day and I ended with 1154 calories. I haven’t ate since about 6pm last night, so almost 17 hours ago and I currently have zero desire to eat… but I know I have to force myself to. Again, this is almost 2 weeks between shots. So is there even a reason for me to take one this week?! Why not go even further and only take that shot once I feel the need? Wouldn’t that make more sense? 🤔

      Ahhh, thanks for all the update Ken…I get it now..I am doing compound and thank God I can afford it, I am very close to maintenance and your story is a complete shame on our healthcare system! But I agree with you, if you are still having good appetite suppression, why take the shot right now? Spread it out, that is one of the ways they are talking about doing maintenance anyways for us folks close to goal..
      I think your exercise, calorie deficit and the suppression is what really moved the scale for you this time around..

    • @FatGuyNoMore
      @FatGuyNoMore  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think its everything working together. A caloric deficit alone is not enough for me. I don't care how many videos I see on TH-cam that say to lose weight you just SIMPLY need to be in a caloric deficit. That's BS! I even called out one such "Trainer" about this and he gave me a dumb reply, but his next video dove into more about that... go figure! I used to watch "The Biggest Loser". They show bigger people that got to their weight that supposedly would eat multiple pizzas, drinking 2 liters of soda and eating gallons of ice cream DAILY! I'm not saying I didn't eat 'too much', but that was not me! Its always been frustrating for me to eat LESS than my skinny friends and yet still gain weight. Something had been missing from me. A piece of the puzzle and its been a VERY important piece and whatever that is is what Mounjaro/Zepbound has. Now that allows me to eat right, exercise right and lose the weight. I will be forever thankful to my doc for mentioning it to me and for hounding me to take it like she did. She calls me her "Weight Loss Rock Star" but without her, I couldn't have done this!!

      Ken you can download the card and use it. As long as u have insurance. They put the type 2 but you’ll be fine trust me. If not zepbound has the same card so get a prescription for that and use the card and pay $550 a month. Paying full price is nutso😮😢

    • @FatGuyNoMore
      @FatGuyNoMore  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shewygirl No. It don’t work for me. I have tried several pharmacies, too many times to count before I just gave up. My INS **requires** me to be T2D to do anything. This isn’t the. Case with lots of people’s, but mine it is and has been. We fought them many ways and all attempts failed. It is what it is. Personally I think it’s why I’ve done so good on my journey as well. I’ve been around long enough to see people come and go. People who got it for $25 for 3 boxes and yet they burned out and gained the weight back. Not me and I personally feel that’s hot a lot to do with my personal struggle.
      The savings card does work for Zepbound, so yes, I’ll make the switch once I’m done with the Mounjaro I still have.
