I'm naturally most creative at night, and when I didn't have to work early I used to wake up naturally around 9 or 10 AM. I felt so extremely guilty for that, and hated mornings. My biggest lesson was that it's not getting up early that bothers me, but HOW I get up. I used to get up as late as possible, thus running out the door every morning. Now I prioritize wearing something cozy, drinking a warm drink, and doing a small yoga routine before going anywhere, and this has made me a much nicer person to deal with in the mornings! I have also accepted that it's better for me to first do mindless tasks that don't require me to think (like cleaning), and do intense audio editing and composition (I'm a sound designer) a bit later on the day.
I became a morning personne, the days I realized morning time was the most quiet and peaceful in my home. I wake up at 5 or 5: 30, and just sit on my favorite armchair to think or dream with a giant cup of black coffee. At 7, I start studying and watching videos on TH-cam until my family rise like an hivernal Sun... At 9 or 9: 30.
Question to all living with a partner: How do you align your daily rhythms to be more productive and happy? My partner is more of a morning person and likes to sleep early, and I'm currently missing out on creative 'sprints' as I get very inspired and productive late at night. I don't want to make noise or get my daily rhythm too far away from his as I also like to wake up together etc. Would love to hear your thoughts on this! (I did work on my mornings, mentioned it in a separate comment)
My favourite morning routine is having 20-25 min to play with my makeup, choosing a colour story, remembering that cool product I haven't used for a while, just fun creative, relaxing time with the added benefit of feeling put together for the rest of the day
I know it’s old tech but my sunrise clock has helped change my attitude toward waking up. Prioritizing a good 40 minute wind down before 8 hours of good sleep, waking up gently to the gradual lightening of my room , have helped me stay relatively sane throughout the gloomy winter here in Cincinnati.
I am not a morning person at all. The best I have been able to manage for the past 2 years or so is a 7AM coffee (usually delivered to my bedside table) taking an hour to wake up. This is a vast improvement on my previous norm of a 8 or 9AM wakeup and rush to get ready in time for my day.
My morning routine is meditation and then a big walk with my dog. Walking has been life changing and sometimes a hello and a smile from a fellow walker can make my day 😌
I've got a toddler who has been going through sleep training in his own room :). Teaching him independence has made a huge difference to my bedtime, nights aren't so stressful anymore. However, i have to adjust by waking up and getting out of bed early (like 5:30 am) for travel to/from childcare and then to work. It's hard but am slowly getting used to it. I'd like to be able to have some time to do my own inner work but being a single mum makes it a challenge.
Thank you for sharing this! I always find it fascinating how creative people use their time, and when & how they're most creative. My energy has a peak-valley rhythm, not just one most critical hour. In the morning it's all I can do to slooowly wake up, get ready and out the door in time for work. Then I have peaks of energy energy mid-morning, early afternoon, right after work, and in the evening, and I try to use them wisely. I think your natural body clock influences when you're most productive or creative. When I had an extended chunk of time off years ago and didn't have to set the alarm, I learned that my natural body clock is to wake at 10am, sleep at 2am. So I know my brain is never going to be most productive at 7am, which is when I have to get up for my paid job, and I take advantage of the energy peaks that emerge later. It also depends on if your goals are solo projects or partner/group work. Besides my paid job, I'm working on two collaborative projects right now that are tied to other people's timetables so I just roll with it. 😆I love analyzing this stuff and really enjoy videos about your routines and creative process!!!
Same! My natural rhythm has always made me feel guilty! For many years, I have gone to work in zombie mode, wasting my creativity. When I was in a relationship, I felt even more guilty! For a few years now, living alone after decades, I have a job that aligns with the natural rhythm of my energy. And it's soooo liberating!
I have found connecting new routines to existing ones so helpful. It's how I began, putting meditation after coffee. With a little trial and error, I'm finding my natural way of getting my priorities into the day. The connected pieces can even be put at different times, like a kid's train track set, if I need to adjust. I also feel my routine is intact if I have to skip a piece one day. It becomes my routine with a hole in it, but it's still there, and I've handled it mindfully and with patience for myself. I think your advice is excellent and adaptable to each person's needs.
I naturally started enjoying magical early mornings and their rituals when I changed my life so I didn't dread waking up to it every day (and some of those things were out of my control and just needed to resolve on their own and were legitimately dreadful... so giving myself some grace). I think this has tuned me into how I'm actually doing. If my life is not aligned with me, my mornings go up in smoke.
(9-27min of "snoozing" the alarm which i need to *stop doing*) 45-75min stretch+workout 15min shower 45min coffee/makeup/get dressed (this segment is often abbreviated based on the "snooze" problem). i have a good routine save for the "snooze" button. for some reason, i run across the room to snooze the alarm (yes, i am already *out* of bed) & then go back to bed because it's ohh so cozzzzyyyyy... 🙃
After having my daughter, I have truly come to appreciate the calmness of the early mornings when its just me and my thoughts! Love this video. I also adore your black dress, where is it from?
Start small. Actionalbe steps. This is what I currently need, as i tend to get overexcited and overwhelm myself with huge steps that leave me demotivated in a short time. Thank you for your clearity❤
I respect you and others that have morning routines. I am not a morning person and have no plans on changing that. I worked nights for 10 years prior to retirement, still on that same schedule. I did have a government career job for many years, had to be at work at 8:00 am. I did it but sure didn't like it. Guess I've always been a night person.
I love the first hour of my day. Once I wake up, I can't stay in bed. I need to get up and move around. It is refreshing to start my work day (work from home life) with a clear mind not clouded by the distant memories of Dreamland.

Yes!!! Walks are amazing. Especially with a furry friend. 💙

Thank you Sharon 💙

I’m trying to fix my habits after a wild Christmas 😄❤❤❤❤
Well if it’s 6 weeks later and you’re saying this it MUST have been wild! 😅

i need to identify with this because my current morning persona is a chronic snoozer... i still get everything done but i'm always 5min late...
I like this kind of videos !
Hi there! I was wondering why you deleted older videos.
. I like the older videos. Thanks!
Gary❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Starting off the video by quoting Radiohead? Yes please. 🖤
Yess, I caught that too. I love Patricia even more for this 💜
Sure, why not! 💙
I want to be a morning person!

1:58 Have you though about getting a new cup? That one looks a bit battered.
Looks like a beautiful piece of pottery to me 🤷🏼♀️
@@NoDecaf7 Well looking at the likes the people have spoken. 😂 I admit defeat. 😅
@@monkey39128 😅😂😂 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
I can’t with some of these comments 😂😂😂
