This may help some of you that experience a similar issue when trying toppers. Firstly I think the base is too large, this explains why you cannot clip it close to your scalp and achieve security. Secondly the topper is mainly wefted, this makes it very stretchy and the reason why it is not sitting flat on your head. We find the best toppers are either fully mono (fine mesh) or fully silk top (fine fabric) which are hand tied to follow the natural fall of real hair (which is why they are generally more expensive than machine made wefted wigs). In short you would need a smaller base (2 inch x 3 inch) with a mono hand tied base made of real hair so that you can style it any way you want. Hope this helps BBx
Aha! 2x3" or 2x5" seem hard to find! But this is great advice. What are your views on human vs. synthetic hair? The videos make the human hair look great, but the wigs I've seen look straw like. I have to say I thought it looked great on you so real looking try one more time get the bangs trimed just a little and then try it on again maybe you will see a difference because it really did look good on you good luck !
The topper doesn’t look bad if you had the bangs thinned and shortened a bit. My hair is almost as thin as yours and I have the same problem clipping the hair combs into my existing hair. Try combing your hair straight back like you’re going to put it into a ponytail so your side hairs are higher on your head to allow more hair to clip to. Then undo the ponytail to blend with the topper.
You look so cute with the bangs! I know what you mean by the clipins. I love the head band wigs, they are very secure and they lay well. Best to you finding what you love!! 😊
Thank you for your honesty. I found your review helpful. I personally have had no issues with wearing toppers, but who’s to say my hair thinning will not progressively get worse. So I thank you for the “heads up”.
Thank you for making this video. I have thin fine hair and tried a topper but nothing to clip it to. Good to know I am not alone. I now wear wigs and they feel much more secure. So nice to have hair that looks nice after years of trying to make something out of nothing. Wish I had done it years ago.
Thank you for this review! I know this is older, but So many woman have no idea where to start with toppers & wigs, if we can help eachother Just a little, it ALL helps. 1. I had very similar hair to yours when i started losing it due to auto immune, fine wispy and dry and brittle. 2. I tried that SAME topper from Paula Young.....it was HORRIBLE! It sat like a cone on my head! I even took to wig hair dresser and he complained about it, but he did dirty it up, and ratted it, and styled it for me,it did look "better" but not at $30.00 a style to only be worn once then when combed , it was out again😬 3. After much research i found toppers that had a monofilimont top and lace front, (just like full wigs) so rejoice because i then used wig tape to secure down, but as time went by, lost more and more hair, so had to transition to wigs. I wish Paula Young would make better products, but they really stink (most of the time) . Have topeers and wigs in closet I wish i could sell to help others, and i wish i would have saved my money and knew what i know now. So please keep doing videos to help others ! Ladies, try Rachel Welch, Ellen Wille for lace feont toppers that can be adhered down along with the clips☺
You can use It Stays adhesive at hair line n onto hair. I use it on my hair/topper and it stays and doesn’t pull ur hair out n washes off with water! My hair is just like yours. It could work if you tried.
I say life it too short to have to stress while trying to make something work for you. If you prefer wigs, go for a full beautiful effortless wig. The clips and slide grips can also cause thinning, so the wig grips are a must have. Thanks for the video, helping people to see these things for themselves. 🥰
What a great review-- full of information on them. Hope u can find a Wig Cosmetologist/stylist. Also if anyone ever wants to donate their hair pieces check with your local hospice/ home care organization if they will take them ❤️
A lot of women use a wig grip and clip their toppers onto that if they don't have enough hair to keep it secure. I think that topper could be cute if the bangs were thinned out and the front wasn't so choppy. You said you had it styled but I don't feel like the stylist was knowledgeable about toppers/wigs because she could have made the bangs wispier and thinned the crown a little to bring down the height (though I think the height looks natural and it's just something you're not used to. We all have an acceptance curve with helper hair.) If you were to find a topper you like, there are definitely ways to make it work. It Stays, Got2B, wig grips, clear elastic bands that basically turn it into a headband. (I think someone already mentioned that trick) But if you prefer wigs and feel more comfortable in them then that's great too. Whatever you feel good in. Just know there are options for toppers that will probably be a big help *if* that's what you want.
To me that topper looks good on you. You look very pretty with it. There are strings that can be put around your head that can hold the topper from like temple to temple. The same system used for halo toppers, but the other way around. I have seen that in videos from India. The brand is 1 Hair Stop. But I mean there are options you can try, there are many kinds and different types of toppers, don’t just give up. I am sure there is one for you.
I am petrified of a topper or wig. I own both, and can't get past the fear that it'll look fake. That people who know my bio hair is quite thin will notice I'm wearing something. Having fine hair is NO fun.☹️ It did look nice on you, though, IMHO. Rosemarie 💖
I felt (and still feel) that way also. It's tough, esp at first. I've had multiple instances, though, where people have complimented my hair and asked what products and such I use. I told some it was a wig, and others I just said, "Thanks" and moved on. A lot of people nowadays where wigs just for fun, so the stigma surrounding them isn't as bad as it used to be. Most people don't know, the ones who might usually aren't going to say anything unless there is a problem (in which case I want to know so I can fix it!!)
Hi Rosey, yesterday was the first time I wore hair extensions and a halo hair extension which I love because it looks so natural and doesn't hurt at all. I've been hesitant for the same reasons you mentioned but at this point I don't really have a choice, a medical issue I've been going through is making my hair thin out. So finally yesterday I was like this is it I don't care I'm just going to do it, I'm going out to dinner with people I don't even know and I'm wearing fake hair lol. Honestly it wasn't too bad at all. I kept feeling the extensions and making sure my real hair was covering them and of course I did feel the extensions in my hair, it wasn't like I forgot they were there lol but you know I did it and it took a lot of nerve on my part since I'm insecure about my hair and I'm a shy person. All in all it was fine it really was and my hair looked nice, I made sure to use hair spray so my real hair wouldn't fly and show the extensions and it worked. It's like they say you have to rip the band-aid off fast so that's what I did. I haven't worn the extensions with people I know yet but I'm sure it'll be fine. People around you love you and want you to be happy and look happy. I think we women are extremely judgmental of ourselves and this leads to a lot of insecurities. Trust me you'll be fine and you'll look great. Hair doesn't define us it just makes us feel prettier and there's nothing wrong with that. Do it for yourself because it makes you feel good. It's like wearing sexy lingerie lol I haven't worn sexy lingerie in a long time, I think it's time to do that too even if it's only for me lol. Another way of looking at it is that life is so short so why not have fun before it's over and who cares what people think or say, a lot of women wear wigs and hair pieces and so do men and why not. Live to the fullest, have fun and look and feel great for you. I'm making an appointment to get my lips injected this week hahahaha why not right, so fuck it I'm going to do it all lol.. Good luck and start today!
My first helper hair was the curls and length I’ve always wanted, as mine is very straight and now thin. But it wasn’t until I purchased a piece that was low density, in the same, simple style I’ve always worn, that I felt perfectly comfortable to wear out. Everybody thought I went to the salon to get a cut and highlights!
I finally started believing people truly didn’t know I was wearing “helper hair” after telling people over and over it was a wig. The look of shock is how I finally believed it. Women would come up to me in the grocery, in a restaurant, etc asking for the name of my hairdresser. I would always smile and reply “ it’s a wig”. It’s not about is it real, it’s about how it looks. I personally think the best decision is to use something as close to your normal hair color and style as possible. If your hair is long don’t buy a short wig or topper. If it’s short, don’t buy longer hair. Also use a color that is complementary. It must fit well. Be consistent. I did color my hair to match my wigs although they are not exactly the same. When my sister went through chemo and started wearing two different wigs, I realized then how great they looked and you don’t really notice shade differences ( if they are not drastic) DON’T be scared.
I agree with you. My hair is really thin due to alopecia and I much prefer a wig. I wear a wig cap and I don't want clips pulling what little hair I do have. There are a lot of really pretty wigs out there
I actually love this style on your, and the bangs suit you! I agree that it's a bit high on the top. Not good that it doesn't hold to the head though :(
You look quite cute with bangs. They make such beautiful wigs now that are so realistic, especially the second to none HH silk tops. I am glad you found what works for you! Thanks for your help!
My hair is as thin as yours. In fact, your pony tail is easily twice as thick as mine. I get clipins to stay put with the help of powder volumizer sprays and teasing. My favorite is Got 2b Powder'ful. Once that volumizer spray dries, no comb is going to go through it. The topper looks great on you. The ponytail looked healthy, just thin. If you've still got it, maybe you should try that topper again. It really does look great.
I understand what you meant about the bangs. I am a bang person and have lost my hair volume in the matter of 4 months. Those bangs have way too much volume. You need a topper with no bangs and low volume hair. Maybe start with 130 percent. That way it’s more natural looking. You also have to do what’s good for you. Love your honestly.
I just watched your video and I absolutely love your hair topper with bangs on you. You can tell though that you need to trim the bangs but after that it sure looked pretty on you and so natural!
Hello, I have fine hair and I use products like rosemary srum, rosemary shampoo, I don't use chemical dyes, only henna. Now I have a lot of hair. patience and you will see. I know your frustration, but this changed my hair and I have it very long, 18 inches. blessings 🌺🙏👍
Awesome video and I couldn't agree more! I thought about toppers as well, but with no hair to attach it to, how was it going to stay in place?? I didn't want to waste a ton of money and have them not work, and since they were the same cost of a wig if not more! I'm a wig gal for sure!
I had a topper professionally made, $2,600 Canadian $. So expensive. Human hair but it has too much hair and hate the bulkiness on top. Mist of my hair loss is in the crown so the combs had to be lowered. They make you pay almost half the money upfront, so if you hate it, you lose your deposit. It really sucks.
The topper looks nice but I do know what your talking with the top not being flat, a hotcomb would help a lot with making the top of the topper look much flatter and more natural looking they sell them at Sally's it's perfect for wigs and toppers
I think that looks good You're just self-conscious cuz you're not used to it I have hair like yours and all my hair fell out The janitor at work told me to try biotin and it really helped my hair.
I also hate to wear bangs they are annoying to have on my forehead plus they just look funny on me. Wigs are definitely the way to go. My hair is also very fine my ponytail is about same as yours. I would love to see what wigs you reccomend. Thanks for the video and your honesty.
You are welcome!!! I'm working on a video now, but I've found a new brand that I LOVE!!! Ellen Willie. A bit more expensive, but the density is perfect for me, and I found mono parts and lace front make a world of difference!
It helps to put one hand on top of your head to hold down the topper to your cab stretch the topper as you clip it down this will help put the topper down so it dont stick up in the middle and when clippimg your need to get the clipper close as you can to the scalp so it doesnt move on you all topper move a little but you dont want it to make all around Second you can use small rubber bands to make little timy pony tails and clip into the pony tails under the rubber bands next to the scalp there are tricks to making them work maybe if you just keep playing around with it so it stay on Im sure if you use the tiny pony tailes as a place to clip it will stay in place I had to do this with clip in hair extensions and it worked well. I think the toppper with bangs looked great on you...
I have a very similar hair loss problem on top. I bought a Paula Young whisper lite long topper, was having trouble securing it, and ended up wearing a tight black top-knot headband and twisting the back up with my natural hair and securing with a claw clip....it looked great, stayed completely secure, many compliments. Very natural and not at all "wiggy". Headbands are a wig wearers friend❤
Get a thin headband the same color as your hair if you can and then clip the topper to that. It’s hard without hair on top. I have the same issue as you and you have to really play with it to make it your own. Maybe trim the bangs a little but I think the topper looked great on you.
Hi, may I suggest that you wear eyeliner on your lid of your eye and not under your eye. I'm not saying that to be rude or mean in anyway, just a helpful tip to help you look younger and less dated. Your still beautiful and thanks for sharing this! 👍🤍😊
The problem is that these days we have to order everything on line unlike the good old days when we could go to a proper wig shop where we could try different size and colours to suit our needs..that's what I call service!
I used to work for a major wig manufacturer. I am also a hairstylist many yrs. I have designed hair pieces that even a bald person can put on and stay attached. Unfortunately I've been unable to find someone to manufacture them for me. If anyone is interested please contact me.
Wow, you and I have almost identical bio hair, just a different color. That topper is cute on you though! It's just a little too far forward. I think it makes you look like a model. Thanks for this review! I'm going to try the mid-length topper. Another reviewer used two small crossed bobby pins on the sides to keep it on. I'll let you know how it works for me. Thanks again for this review!
You can clip the bangs a little it didn’t look bad to me I think you’re cute find a stylist that can help you what about a short haircut. I also have thinning hair but of course I’m an old girl I have faith in you dear don’t put your self down don’t give in you will find a style just for you. I’ll keep watching. Love.
A complete explanation of why toppers may not work for many people. Very good. I did like the color of that one....do you remember the color name at all?
Great vid, thanks! I am going to follow you as we both have the same hair issues. I am similarly endowed with fine, thin hair though my thinness is very bad at the crown/back of my head. I liked that topper on you, for myself I would cut the bangs wispier as I can't stand stuff in my face but it did look good. My first fake hair purchase was a wig from a shop and despite going there and paying for help vs buying online, I have determined it was too big, I also had areas where the wig did not sit flat and the side clips were literally where no hair was so the wig gave me a hairline I did not have. So for THAT reason I've been looking at toppers.@beautifulBetsy had some good comments - any thoughts on what she said?
i have a topper im 59 menopausal an my hairline has receeded i bought a blonde topper dyed it grey match my hair i was going to throw it away lucky i have a sewing machine i parted the hair on the wig were u have to sew.....i sewed it onto a head band and it fitted perectly i love it and it covers my large forehead and frownies an it also covers my big ears the topper has long hair for the side i love it try to use your topper too in a way it suits you hope this helps xox
I kinda like it on you. It may just be that it doesnt fit properly or needs the clips moved to where there is hair to clip onto? I don't like bangs in real life hair or wigs/toppers but with that topper I would try a deep side part and pin the fringe across.(hiding the bobby pins under the rest of the hair). hoping you find something that works, I am still in the looking phase too as havent found the right one that looks natural on me.
I don’t think it looks bad at all. But i would suggest a lace front topper so that you do not have to have bangs and can style it up and to the side. Look for videos on ‘low density toppers’. . You’ll be surprised. With a lace front you can put a bit of glue on the front hairline to hold the topper down. And for the clip parts you can remove the clips and put some silicone tabs on those areas and then add double sided tape to the silicone tabs and they will stick to your scalp - as your hair is so thin I think the doubled sided tape will find scalp to stick to. It all comes off with a spray of alcohol .
Hi. I appreciate what you are saying about the topper and this might not be the one for you but I thought you looked really cute with it on. Yes, the bangs need to be trimmed to fit your face and I don't necessarily understand the thing about the back sticking up. It may just be too big, but it really did look good on you. I suspect that you have the shape of face (petite) that would look good in most styles and I hope you don't give up. There is definitely a style that you will feel good in but I suspect which ever you choose it will have to be cut to fit you. I honestly wish you the best of luck.
You look amazing with bangs but if your not comfortable with them it doesn't matter what other people think. I just wanted to let you know I think they look great.
It’s too bad we’re our own worst critics. You looked great. Have you heard of texturizing powders? If you sprinkle some of that in the zones you clip at the tease the hair prior to clipping in it will totally hold. I didn’t mind the height, gives the head a great shape otherwise it would be too flat. One must feel Comfortable which ever topper they buy. Good luck on your journey on finding the best one for you 🤗
Thank you for doing this video! I just returned this topper because the bangs were weird to me too, also the monofilament crown stuck up on me too. I’m sorry you struggled with this!
Yea, it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I wish I could return it, but having styled it and all, I can't. That's OK, though - I'm going to send it to an outreach program and hopefully she can find a new home with someone who loves it!
I have to tell you that when my daughter and I first saw your video we thought your hair was beautiful. This was with the topper. I too have thin hair and I have used toppers, and the ones that cover a bit more of the scalp (slightly larger base) definitely are better because the topper can connect to more hair, than the ones that just connect to the top of the scalp. That topper looks great on you, but like Beautiful Betsy, you may need one a bit lighter weight. As for the bangs, I have always needed to trim and thin the bangs a bit. I do it myself, but you can get a beautician to do this.
I thought you looked so cute (and sexy) in the topper. But I know what you mean. I've tried to wear wigs thru the years but they have so much hair that I look ridiculous. Maybe if you used some gel on your hair and tease it up where the clips are it might help. Good luck.
You are very beautiful. Just gotta say. Thanks for this information because I was considering a topper. My hair is just about your thickness or thinness. Lol . I appreciate this ❤ oh you do look great in this topper but like me I do not like bangs on myself. They annoy me. 😊
I understand what you are saying 100%. Everybody will give you advice but the truth is our hair is fine. I have the same odd shaped head and we both have FINE hair. Not just thin but baby fine. I don't have hair loss but my hair is so baby fine I have to destroy it with products to achieve body. I have tried hair toppers but they always look like full wigs to me and the clips wont hold in my hair. If you find a solution please let me know. If anybody knows of a legitimate company who sells LOW DENSITY human hair toppers please let me know.
That topper with bangs looks amazing on you. You’re just not used to the volume or style. Absolutely gorgeous.
That was probably it, but I did give it as best try as I could. I found wigs to be more comfortable and easier for me, so I'm not terribly upset. ❤️

Try combing your hair straight back like you’re going to put it into a ponytail so your side hairs are higher on your head to allow more hair to clip to. Then undo the ponytail to blend with the topper.
Visually, in my opinion, the topper looked great on you including the bangs. You became very young and modern.😍💕💕💕
It looks very cute and natural on you.
I even took to wig hair dresser and he complained about it, but he did dirty it up, and ratted it, and styled it for me,it did look "better" but not at $30.00 a style to only be worn once then when combed , it was out again😬
Actually you look good with the topper and bangs...
You can use It Stays adhesive at hair line n onto hair. I use it on my hair/topper and it stays and doesn’t pull ur hair out n washes off with water! My hair is just like yours. It could work if you tried.
I have the same issue and came to the same conclusion . Thank you for sharing as I thought it was me doing something wrong.
We all have an acceptance curve with helper hair.)
If you were to find a topper you like, there are definitely ways to make it work. It Stays, Got2B, wig grips, clear elastic bands that basically turn it into a headband. (I think someone already mentioned that trick)
But if you prefer wigs and feel more comfortable in them then that's great too.
Thank you, that was very helpful. I have thin hair like you and never knew about hairbands for toppers.
My hair is just as thin as yours, I've just bought my first wig. I don't know how it's going to work out. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I think the bangs look really good on you. I am wanting a topper with thin hair and not very long.
Not good that it doesn't hold to the head though :(
Thank you for your honest review. I understand.
Just trim a 1/2 inch off the bangs on that first topper. It looked fantastic on you!
Thanks for making my mind up about toppers think couldnt see how these clips would work on fine hair with nothing for them to grab on to.
You look quite cute with bangs. They make such beautiful wigs now that are so realistic, especially the second to none HH silk tops. I am glad you found what works for you! Thanks for your help!
But it looks SO good on you! So natural looking. And you look good in bangs! 🥰
I see that it did not stay in place... but the style looked very nice...
Did you try a wig cap and see if that will help hold the wig in place?
Hello, I have fine hair and I use products like rosemary srum, rosemary shampoo, I don't use chemical dyes, only henna. Now I have a lot of hair. patience and you will see. I know your frustration, but this changed my hair and I have it very long, 18 inches. blessings 🌺🙏👍
Awesome video and I couldn't agree more! I thought about toppers as well, but with no hair to attach it to, how was it going to stay in place?? I didn't want to waste a ton of money and have them not work, and since they were the same cost of a wig if not more! I'm a wig gal for sure!
Omgosh! I think the parted bangs look SO cute on you! I think that topper looked great on you.
Thanks for sharing your info. You look really good in bangs and I wish you the best.
The topper looks nice but I do know what your talking with the top not being flat, a hotcomb would help a lot with making the top of the topper look much flatter and more natural looking they sell them at Sally's it's perfect for wigs and toppers
Honest vid..... But Honey, you look Gorgeous 💞💞💞
I think that looks good You're just self-conscious cuz you're not used to it
I have hair like yours and all my hair fell out
The janitor at work told me to try biotin and it really helped my hair.
May I know the doze of Biotin are you takeing?
I tried biotin and it gave me cystic acne. Might have been the dosage.
Unfortunately my head is funny shaped so I can't wear headbands. 😢
I'm having the same problem. Put my hair in a ponytail and it's no bigger around than a dime.
Now my front hair I put mousse on it and I blow dry the opposite way of how I want to wear it and that gives it some lift
Have you tried a Godiva consultation?
Get a thin headband the same color as your hair if you can and then clip the topper to that. It’s hard without hair on top. I have the same issue as you and you have to really play with it to make it your own. Maybe trim the bangs a little but I think the topper looked great on you.
I think it looks lovely with a fringe! Really nice ❤
Hi, may I suggest that you wear eyeliner on your lid of your eye and not under your eye. I'm not saying that to be rude or mean in anyway, just a helpful tip to help you look younger and less dated. Your still beautiful and thanks for sharing this! 👍🤍😊
I think the lady looks just fine. She may have a specific reason for wearing her liner this way. This is a topped review site.
The problem is that these days we have to order everything on line unlike the good old days when we could go to a proper wig shop where we could try different size and colours to suit our needs..that's what I call service!
I think it looks really cute on you. Even the bangs are adorable. Too bad it didn't work out.
I used to work for a major wig manufacturer. I am also a hairstylist many yrs. I have designed hair pieces that even a bald person can put on and stay attached. Unfortunately I've been unable to find someone to manufacture them for me. If anyone is interested please contact me.
Do you have a website to see more about your product?
Have to agree with others on here, you really really suit the fringe (bangs). I do sympathise and understand the problem of grip.
This is very true... Toppers is for people with hair...
I know you don't like bangs, but the truth is, the topper with bangs looks gorgeous on you!!!
I love the way you look with bangs! You are beautiful, believe me!
What would also help is makeup knit sometimes gives your hair a boost in looks
I actually like the look on you.
I personally thought, you looked amazing with the bangs
My hair same they just dont stay put😢
Girl me too! We have the same hair.. That topper looks great on you thou.. It just needs to be Slayed lol 🔥
I can wrap mine 4 times with one of those small ties, as well. I used to have such nice hair!
The bangs look really good on you , it’s the most natural looking hair piece out of all on you .
You have the perfect blonde that creates an illusion of thickness. I really like it.
i have a topper im 59 menopausal an my hairline has receeded i bought a blonde topper dyed it grey match my hair i was going to throw it away lucky i have a sewing machine i parted the hair on the wig were u have to sew.....i sewed it onto a head band and it fitted perectly i love it and it covers my large forehead and frownies an it also covers my big ears the topper has long hair for the side i love it try to use your topper too in a way it suits you hope this helps xox
I love the topper! It looks super cute on you!
I'm not sure why you don't like this on you but you look soooo good and young with the topper
Looks nice!! I cant wear them. Very fine thin hair too:(
I have the same. Blond, very fine hair. Then I visit a african hair solon- you dont believe, how great ideas they got there! Kisses from germany
I think it looks pretty good
I kinda like it on you.
One must feel
Comfortable which ever topper they buy.
Hi I learned that you may have gotten the wrong size cap. I saw a lady wore a band I
Under the topper. You can also buy a roll of wig tape.
I love your look with bangs
I actually liked you in the bangs. I think you needed a better quality. Did you ever try the body glue (I forget the name)?
I think the topper looks great on you!
Did you try PRP or PRF ?
Actually,...she looks prettier and better with the topper on her head...than before...where hair was too thin...looked really nice....
I think if those bangs were a little shorter you would look really good
I thought you looked so cute (and sexy) in the topper. But I know what you mean. I've tried to wear wigs thru the years but they have so much hair that I look ridiculous. Maybe if you used some gel on your hair and tease it up where the clips are it might help. Good luck.
it looks incredible on you
You are very beautiful. Just gotta say. Thanks for this information because I was considering a topper. My hair is just about your thickness or thinness. Lol . I appreciate this ❤ oh you do look great in this topper but like me I do not like bangs on myself. They annoy me. 😊
did you you find a style of wig you like? that fit the back of your head?
Also Sally's beauty shop supplier sells a great shampoo for this
I understand what you are saying 100%.
Are you still trying to find a home for the topper? I'm interested...
No, it's gone. Sorry.
