Blower would not work at all. Compressor light comes on, but nothing kicking on when blower switch is turned on. Worth trying the Blower Motor Resistor. Checked fuse's 24 @ 25. both appeared to be OK.

It will burn out again in a short period of time, your just fixing the symptom. You need to replace the blower motor which is the cause of the problem. Amazon is the best place to buy the blower motor, a lot cheaper than the local auto parts store (don't forget to buy an universal wire harness also).
I went through 3 of these resistors on my 2001 Dakota. The problem is the 5-pin connector is not rated for the amp load on the highest and 2nd highest fan speed settings. Heat and oxidation would build up to the point the connector would melt and fuse to the resistor. So even with a new resistor block and connector it will just happen again. I finally solved it by soldering the wires directly to the pins on the resistor block. You have to carefully cut away part of the shroud to get good access to solder. Once done, fill the whole cavity with silicone sealer or epoxy as a potting compound. Mine has been working fine for four years now. Also, you can get new resistor block, connector with wires, and even new fan/motor assembly for very little $ on Amazon. Don't pay dealership prices.

Hey everyone, I had issues with my 2004 Dakota blowing the resistors and the issue ended up being the wiring harness/connector. I went through a couple resistors so looking into it more the connector and almost 1 1/2 of of wire was corroded. I checked with my local parts supplier and they wanted almost 100 just for the connector! Reading this was a design flaw and people actually started using 2008 improved connector, I bought one more resistor, cut off the connector, stripped the wires, and soldered the clean wires to the resistor itself. I have not had an issues since. Carefully read your trucks schematic for wiring, or simply plug the resistor in and mark the colours of the wires on the resistor to ensure proper polarity. So before you replace switches, blower motors, check these resistors which is the cheapest part (4.99 CAD) BEFORE going to your mechanic and paying 85 -90 for them to misdiagnose like many others, causing a headache for many dakota owners. My lowest switch setting does not turn on the a/c, but the rest of the settings do work. The switch settings actually seem like I lost the highest blow setting for the second highest setting...like the settings are askew. Thought it could be the switch. Is it more likely the blower motor resister?

Two cannot be seen unless you peer straight up at the location, but that might not be physically possible for a dood over 5'6". To gain access to one of the screws requires the removal of the screw that holds a black, hard plastic hose. Once that screw is removed, you can move the hard plastic hose just enough to access the screw attaching the resistor to the truck. this is a $10 fix. I completely thought I was in for a new blower. Thank you @Scouser Tech for posting. I guess, I'll never walk alone.
I have a similar problem with my 02' Durango except my heater does not turn on at all. My rear blower works no problem but my front heater does not work and its getting cold in NJ. Would the resistor still be the issue or something else. I can feel heat coming from the vents while i drive which helps a little but the blower does not seem to re be running at all. Thanks for your time friend
Sounds like your blower motor has gone on the front. Can be fixed pretty easy. I don't have vehicle anymore so cant make a video but some good ones out there. As for the resistor do your speeds work on the working rear blower?
Excellent description and Removal / Installation Instructions , you forgot to mention taking off the screw for the air duct , the one screw is a real pain to get onto , am using a screwdriver type handle with an extension for the screw that is buried at back , if you have a flex shaft type extension or screwdriver handle ( 1/4" drive) I would recommend trying that to get back screw out / in .

Once that screw is removed, you can move the hard plastic hose just enough to access the screw attaching the resistor to the truck. this is a $10 fix. I completely thought I was in for a new blower. Thank you @Scouser Tech for posting. I guess, I'll never walk alone.
Timothy Sandberg thanks and yes being tall doesn’t help trying to lay down and get any items under the dash. Glad this helped you out though. YNWA
thank you.....
i replased the resistor...motor is good. works in 1 and 2 not 3 and 4. but it did not fix it.
Thank you great video. 5*
Scouser Tech yeah they do
Exact same issue taking place here, vehicle as well..thanks a million!!
$10 fix for me. Appreciate the video!
Yea definitely a great tip thank you
Thanks for the vid man my truck is having the same problem.
Thanks alot man!! I thought my blower was going bad or something lol
Appreciate it man!!! Saved me a ton of time!!👍
