    Great to see a swedish watchbrand!🇸🇪 Maybe you Don’t know the whole swedish history When it comes to watches, back in the 1600-1800 century, Sweden was like Switzerland when it comes to ship-clocks! The ship clocks was often used together with a hourglas ⌛️, often set for 30 minuter! The ship crew had often 4 hours worktime on the ship, the ship clock helped out to keep an eye to the time….. Back in those days, Sweden was the country to turn to if you wanted to have a proper ship clock!🇸🇪 This was just a funny Fact for you Jody! Greeting from Sweden!🇸🇪😃

    I like how the date window blends in nicely at the 6 o'clock mark. The blue dial with the vertical brush looks the best of the two I reckon.

    I have seen them on insta. Very nice people. The black one is my favorite. Black & White ..... almost a Tuxedo dial ..... very striking and balanced. I am allergic to date features but their placement and execution at the 6 retains symmetry and beauty.

    Love the blue one..and great to see a watch manufacturer integrate the date window pleasantly and symmetrically. But the price will be a bone of contention. $800 is approaching Seiko Prospex money, and lots of tried and tested micro brands. Would love to see the final product with the upgraded bracelet.

    The Shellback signature on a curve looks great on its own, but the design element of the hour hand “hole” sweeping over it on axis is brilliant. I hope that’s their future plan/handset for everything…good stuff. The blue dial with the brushed texture looks sharp, and that is THE best date integration…seamless with the rest of the sandwich dial!

  • @CraigG21
    @CraigG21 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Although the clasp is bulky, it does allow for tool-less adjustment throughout the day when your wrist expands/contracts. The R150 movement was also used in the initial Shinola Limited Edition Monster automatic.

    A very interesting review. It's good that they have produced samples to garner last minute feedback to feed into the production versions. The bracelet update is a must along with the lume pip position both look like they will be updated for the production versions. The loosening of the bezel looks to have been taken on board as well. This must be one of the best 6 position date complication executions that I can remember and as you say the lume is completely bonkers. I've never sen a Ronda mechanical movement so I guess this will be the primary unknown aspect of this piece. If I were to make a purchase it would be the black one with date (maybe a ghost date position on crown of the no date) as it would be more versatile for different straps etc.

  • @thegenera42
    @thegenera42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Initially, I also thought the price is a bit high, however
    (1) given the dial (black: enamel; blue: brushed) and how it plays with the light
    (2) unique handset
    (3) great application of lume
    (4) best execution of date window I have seen so far
    (5) and the fact that you get 2 additional straps
    in a rather flat case, I think it's justified. Also stands out more than a Seiko at this price point.

      I mean, to be fair many of these microbrands (if not most) are using aftermarket movements anyway but I agree that it gives me pause when they advertise a new, special, awesome in-house movement made from the bones of swedish fish. Maybe it's worth more because it's unique? But maybe it's not that unique?
      Put this watch solidly in the $400-500 category and it's far, far more palatable, even if the company disappears in ten years.

I'm not a big dive watch style fan but I do like several of the design elements on this one (sandwich dial, handset, date window placement) and had it in my mind that I wanted a well priced but good quality diver with a blue dial. I'd considered the Halios Fairwind (Only to find out they are vague on when they'll be in stock) and the Christopher Ward C65. This Tuseno looks great though and I now eagerly await for the day it arrives!

    I will admit that I like a chunky, heavy watch. 157g is positively petite compared to some of the 200+ g watches I wear. Here's the thing about a clasp with a push button micro-adjust. They will, inevitably, be larger and heavier than a clasp without this "miraculous" adjustment system. They will also be much easier to wear all day and on a daily basis. At the RRP price point they are crossing the line where value-for-money becomes an essential selling point. For me VFM at this price point needs a quick release strap/bracelet and a push button micro adjust. A life without watch tools is a happy life for me and, I suspect, for many other watch owners. At 40mm it's a bit small for me but it is a lovely watch and the ease of use from the clasp and QR system certainly makes it a great value watch too.

    When I saw the thumbnail, I thought, "oh great, another dive watch...(yawn)." But I pressed forward as I like your reviews. I did actually like a few of the things they did: the date window that actually looks like part of the design and not just a cutout, the handset is nice and the size is good. Then....the 'awe - shoot' items popped up. The clasp looks like a misfit and WAY too chunky, the bracelet is nice but (minor moan) would have liked a bit more taper (I know, very subjective). But the price....WOW. That just seems a bit too high compared to what else is out there. I get trying to put your foot in the door but you have to really be unique to grab a piece of the low/mid level "dive watch swarm" that has invaded the shores over the last few years. But you are the reason I watch and subscribe so keep up the great reviews!

    Two things stood out to me on this watch. The end links don't stylistically match the bracelet, IMO. But, it has character on a strap, and a blue strap on the blue one would be cool. The other is the lume. With all that lume, I just wonder if they couldn't have lumed the date wheel so that the black date text contrasts the lume in the dark making the date visible in the dark...I mean as long as we're slathering it everywhere, missed a spot!

    Tusen means 1000, Ö means island. "Ö" is pronounced like the french "œ"

    Nice watch so much so that I registered my interest with them and waiting for an email on the 12th giving myself and others who registered first dibs at purchasing. Then the kicker... delivery expected in the first quarter of next year. Not sure I want to wait that long especially as a new watch is going to be a gift to myself for a significant birthday 🤔

    Jody, I believe Ali Express is having an August Sale. Do you know the date it starts?

    Hi J,
    Nice review - absolutely agree with inverted links and wonder why more brands don't do it.
    Bit lost on your use of the dive bezel though. Why would it matter if the five-minute marks appear on the dial? Have I been using mine wrong?

    It is quite original looking. Not sure that I would pay that money. I'm sure, quality wise - its the correct price. But with the same funds, I would buy something that is a little better known. If you had the money and a few other similar priced watches in your collection, then its worth the buy.

    Im debating between this watch and the Doxa sub200. Which would you recommend based on build quality? I am unable to handle either watch prior to purchase unfortunately. Thank you.

    Couple of bonny watches there. I wonder whether the hour hand is a bit 'light' however. It looks like the outer diameter of the aperture matches the circular hour markers at the 5 positions. Would it look better if the 'hole' in the hour hand was the same diameter as the hole in the sandwich dial? Matching holes, as it were. It would call for a much larger hour hand, but think that it would work better.

    Nice looking with a Tudoresque Black Bay sort of queues. A Ronda automatic is a rare thing, very nice looking and simple with excellent time-grapher numbers. Also, price-wise, although the intro price seems to be reasonable, still it is hard to justify for brands that are not well known.

    Gorgeous watch, has the no date version a ghost position? The lume is a bit "de trop" but overall, a winner. A green version would be welcome. Great review for a great watch.
