Nothing is ever going down on that gap again, it’s too big. It makes 0 sense kickflip was landed. It’s why it’s still talked about 10+ years later. It’s like a 5-6’ gap to the fence which is about 1-1.5’ taller than where you pop to a sheer 12-14’ drop. Not to mention the runway is an intersection and a few feet of sidewalk. Nobody is sending another flip trick down it. Sheckler did the perfect trick at the perfect spot and nobody will touch it.
I put this in the J Wray water tower category. Shit so sketchy that only one trick will likely ever go down there. Maybe not a flip trick can happen but nobody is flipping down that fucker again. That fence at the top is the killer.

This will remain one of the most gnarly drops I have ever seen done on a board.
Such a good era for skating and sheckler had an unbelievable redemption story. This blonde kid with rich parents and a reality mtv show coming up and being hated on relentlessly in a time when skaters were too cool for school. Then massive gap after massive gap started gaining rep from this purist skate community. I specifically remember thrashers bust or bail opening a lot of eyes. Sheckler cleared a 16 set with a bs flip by about 6ft then proceeded to tre flip and hard flip it. Guy is a legend and it was all well earned.

I know El Toro was tough for Ryan, but that gap made up for it. I grew up skating through the 80’s and 90’s, but I got mad respect for Ryan, he’s definitely one of the best skaters of all time.
Crazy to hear the knowledge and calculation that went into Ryan's skating at such a young age.
I always looked at ryan as a little D bag but could NEVER deny how great his skating was. I never took into consideration what he must have been dealing with as a super star at such a young age.

I started skating when he was getting big and I remember how everyone loved him, then a few years later he turned super bro and everyone hated on him. Then a few more years everyone was about him again and acting like they didn't hate him. There's a Rob Brink interview on the Ride channel where I think they asked him what's the biggest change in skateboarding and he was like "it's okay to like sheckler now"

This kickflip from Sheckler, Bachinsky's El Toro kickflip, and Enzo's kickflip down that massive blocks set are the craziest ones I can think of off the top of my head. Batshit that Bachinsky did his kickflip down El Toro on a 7.5 board too.

This is the gnarliest kickflip ever. Period. And it was so proper and steezy too. Bigger gaps have been ollied. But I cant remember another kickflip that high thats been done.
When I was a teenager learning to skate he was a child competing with grown men. One of the best to ever do it.

I've jumped that gap 2 times on a bmx, once when i was 16 and again when I was in my early 20's then I went to barspin it and almost got hit by a car on the run up and with a car in the parking spot. So he's not the only person to do it, just only person on a skateboard to land it and roll away. Its all on youtube under " biggest barspin attempt in a webisode ever"

What’s interesting too I remember I was a kid and I met sheckler at the dew tour in Baltimore and he signed the poster picture of him doing a kick flip over that. At the time the footage wasn’t released but I remembered the Ollie from Oakley video and I was like noooooo wayyy. When I saw the footage some time later after that I was like this dude isn’t human.
I don’t understand how this was landed given the laws of physics. It’s seemingly a superhuman moment that he did that.
Cant believe no one else has touched it. There is such a small percentage of people who are actually capable of pulling something here but not one person other than that random kid not even skating it just pointlessly jumped down it? Joslin definitely has something to bring to the table

The first time I ever filmed with Hoops I got a comment I appreciate to this day.. roughly 13-14 years ago him and Lutz are in Milwaukee and we decide to hit up that mellow tech rail. Ima just a quiet dude always listening but always battling my inner critic Demon. But we get there knowing we got 25 mins tops before the cops roll on us.. never said shit and within 4-5 tries got a nollie bigspin backlip... and Hoops goes I fucking like this guy he doesn't say a word and gets to work and his trick letting that talk!
Edit - He was super obsessed about getting his teeth bleached at the time constantly in the rear view mirror while driving saying something like "Cleaner than a strippers Asshole"
