    Because of you I totally fell in love with the Iron, bought a brandnew 2018 one back in April, started my license, got it yesterday and on friday I will pick up my bike. Thanks man.

    Went to test ride a 48 and I felt super comfortable on it and it was great, but then I hopped on the roadster that weighs the same but is set up differently and it felt so much heavier, I think since I’m a smaller frame person the iron 883 would fit me perfect. Also at the end of the day once you get used to the bike and feel it’s lacking power, could get a stage 4 screaming eagle big bore kit and it’ll boost it to 1250!

      shane seckold the Iron is a solid bike but you should definitely at least sit on one before committing. As much as I love the look of the Iron I've decided to build a Dyna into a plus-sized version of one; it'll fit my size and riding style better.

      I went to the local Harley Davidson Dealership here I sat on one I love it. One mod I will do is put forward controls on. thanks for the hint misterrittenhouse ☺

    Hey man! Just found your videos. I've got an 883 sporty that my dad passed down to me as my first street bike and I'm still riding it now! I thought about adding a kickstarter to it, but I'm a little worried about it kicking back and breaking my leg. If I kick start it from cold, it won't kick back, right?

    what is that style of iron 883 is that bike called with the drag bars, underbar mirrors, V&H short shots, and the side-mounted speedo? Is that considered a cafe bike? I am buying a used bike with the exact same setup.

  • @newyorkrebel5142
    @newyorkrebel5142 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the way you have this bike setup. I like the short black pipes, I like the drag bars or the short Z-bars.
    You mentioned you did a tank lift. What did it look like before the lift?

    Honest opinions needed from owners - I commute 1200 miles a month to work - I'm considering a bike again after 5 years away from riding. I'm in UK and my commute is an hour each way. I will need to ride all weathers (always used to). I also live right by the sea so corrosion resistance is important - and I mean on a lee shore so always salty air. Love the looks and can finally afford a brand new Harley 883 iron and I've reached the right stage of life to slow down with a cruiser (nearly 60) but is an 883 iron robust enough? Rust killed my last Honda. How tough are the finishes - this environment killed my last Honda with rust. Opinions please? Will the sea air and salted winter roads kill it in a year?

    Keep up the great videos. Currently on a 2002 Honda Magna myself and have had 6 other bikes over the last few years. I've ridden a couple different Harleys to include the 48, iron, 883 custom, and low rider, but my favorite is the Iron. Next year i may have to trade my bike in for one.
    I use to enjoy watching DoItWithDan, but he's now become click bait and hype video type of guy.
    You gotta get the MIC thing figured out though lol.

    • @BlockheadMoto

    Hi Block, when you record "how to" video's in your garage! Do you record with a gopro head strap or wearing your full face helmet all the time lol :D Love the video's :D Just ordered the swingbag.

    • @BlockheadMoto
      @BlockheadMoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Esben christensen I usually just hold the GoPro in my hand. Full face would get super hot! And head strap provides a bad angle.

      +Esben christensen Also thanks for the support, appreciate it! Enjoy the swing arm bag :)

    • @esbenchristensen2969

      Thank you, No worries on the support. Great to follow the bike progress. I was lucky enough to get a 1200 Nightster for a good price. I'm 6.2 but it has forward pegs so feels very good. Just ordered the same Drag bars you got so hopefully it's a good ride when I install it. My bike is very much a working progress but that's the cool part. My instagram is IgenX so feel free to follow along.

  • @devonasher7857
    @devonasher7857 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    @BLOCKHEAD Dude honestly you should keep the 883 forever. if I'm not mistaken when you feel like you want more power I believe S&S sells a bolt on 1200 conversion kit I know it's for a regular 883 it may or may not fit the iron I'd have to do more research. Because I'm not sure if there's any slight variation between the iron and the regular 883 in terms of motor mounts and frame design I haven't done that much research into them yet.

    I've researched big bore kits and I thought the s&s kits were the best price and bolt on ability

    • @BlockheadMoto
      @BlockheadMoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard S&S kits are good, too! Most 'put together' from the factory apparently. Price wise, I think they're a little higher than some other options out there, but their quality sounds good as well. Up to each person to do their own research and ask around, but I've heard good things about the S&S kits. Suppose I'll find out when I go that route in the future :)

  • @Jed1317
    @Jed1317 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ah man!!!!! Gutted that you only get that mileage from the tank. I was dead set on test riding the iron and then getting it if I liked it due to watching your vids. I do a lot of miles on my SV, so need at least 130 on a tank.

    • @BlockheadMoto
      @BlockheadMoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of my riding is around town, so it's much lower. The riding that I have done on highway, it's jumped by quite a bit. Based on Harley's numbers, I think for distance riding it averages like 45-50mpg, which is over 130 w/ a 3.3gal tank. I'm also using a fuel management system, so factor that in as well.
