  • MotoMan talks with old friend, major classic car guy and co-founder of the ‪@PetersenMuseum‬ , Bruce Meyer. In this first part of their discussion, Bruce shares his journey as a car obsessed kid growing up in the post war hot rod culture of Los Angeles and how he created a real estate & retail empire while still very much keeping true to being a ‘nice guy’.

It is a privilege to hear the unfolding of a amazing life. Mr. Meyer is a refreshing reminder of how citizens in this country lived life with grace and dignity. George, please stop cutting your guests off mid thought. The interview is about them, not you. Great interview series! Thank you!

Bruce Meyer is the Emperor of the Classic Car world and I always enjoy hearing him talk. I wish this interviewer did not interrupt so much. I wanted to hear Bruce, less other guy.

This was the most interesting vid I've enjoyed ever. I'm 71 and started buying small properties in 1974 and always thought I was unique in fearing big debt. (also 2 Cessna's and my first new car, a Fiat Spyder 124).

I just watched a Vault Video of the Peterson. Funny to have directly after that an Interview with Bruce Meyer. It can`t be better than that. Very entertaining and extremely interesting. - Great MotoManTV Video! THX

Fantastic stories, really interesting man. So gutted as I've had to stop watching half way through, its just way too irritating with the interviewer constantly interrupting. I need to find more interviews with Bruce which are viewable!

Being a "Nice Guy" was a definite hindrance in my early dating career as it seemed most ladies were trying to pursue (and fix) the "Bad Boys". As a senior, I can say that's changed and it's also a pleasure to appreciate fellow nice guys. Bruce is such a genuine gentleman it just oozes through everything... even being perpetually polite while being constantly cut-off mid-thought and mid-sentence (but I appreciate the interview! Thank you!). As a lover and owner of two 1960s mid-engine V12s, I can see that he is a purist and ultra fine "conservator" of our great automotive heritage.

Great interview. I have met Bruce a few times and he has always been very nice. First time I met him was in the stands at Bakersfield, I've seen him at Deuce Day in Victoria a few times and at SEMA show too. I didn't know he actually owned the building the Petersen is in. You are right about the nicest people are car people. I have met all sorts and just because a person owns an interesting car or even several doesn't always make them a car guy. There are other guys with lots of money who have big collections too but I very much doubt some average rich guy with cars as investments would be at a drag race never mind getting to sit and chat with them there. Bruce is definitely a genuine car guy and not just some rich guy that bought great cars.

Great people, iconic cars, real estate, amazing journey and a cool life! Mr Meyer is the man! And does not look a day over 60!
I have to ask, The Bentley Turbo R with the HOTROD license plate, is that Mr Meyer's car?
Such a tease, M. You cut off right when you start taking about watches lol.
I really enjoyed this episode M! Excellent work as always.
