@@oberon9015 Well, the last batch came from a time when the monsters were pretty commonplace and fighting them was the norm even for regular folk. Now it looks like the vamps have gone really underground prefering to run things in the shadows. Wouldn't be surprised this era's Belmonts are less experienced.
TOTALLY agree! It's 100% smoother than its predecessor in the animation department. The effects are SO much stronger. The emotional mood is there and I'm DOWN for it! I can't wait!

Trevor was such a beast even though he didn't complete his training with his family that I wouldn't expect a fully trained Belmont to get dropped on the street like that. There were vamps in the original series who seemed like they could beat Trevor one on one though.
Combining the French Revolution setting with vampire society is pretty genius honestly considering the downfall of the noble class being their greed and thirst and the whole thing about vampires and their endless thirst/hunger

Took less than 30 seconds of this trailer for it to hit me with the same feelings as the original series, such atmosphere, great voice acting performances, love it.
Any production house that cares about its fans recognizes what made previous installment attractive to the audience and follows the successful formula. Netflix had its blunders, but when it comes to Castlevania they've done a great job. And I'm happy to see that the quality didn't drop for the new series, judging by this trailer the visuals are actually better.
I am a long time fan of castlevania but i hope dracula will appear in that series as an antagonist. I'm still not convinced by the ending that Dracula received in the original series.

I'll never forget the bloody tears track playing with a fight scene in Dracula castle during the first series, they're obviously paying attention to the fans of this game series and taking note of the little nostalgic things we love. I can't wait to check out this next iteration. I got chills watching this teaser.

People keep saying how good the animation looks but damn the voice acting is also really good in this, so grounded and realistic feeling, much better than the over-the-top voice acting on dubs of other animated series!
Anime dub in general should just be having proper voice acting based on the contextual interpretation of the scenes adapted to one's own natural voice acting ability and range, rather than trying too hard to emulate the best impression of the original voice lines in another language.
I enjoyed how the first saga was a feeling of "Vampire killers saving a dystopian world." vibe where everybody was like "Yeah, monsters and vampires are real, get over it." It made it fun and intense leading up the that badass climactic final battle. Nocturne seems more like a "Vampires? Ha! Fairy tales." vibe with monsters hiding amongst the people of a more modern world. So a bit more mystery, a bit less total destruction and large scale warfare. It'll be fun to see how they handle that transition and maintain the action-packed violence and bloodshed. From the trailer it seems like we're getting plenty of badassery. So having it in a different setting, more personal confined circumstances, should be fun.
I think the same, instead of letting humanity rally against a common enemy the vampires learned and let them forget they exist, so those few that still fight against them become just raving lunatic fighting against fairy tales, and they can pull the strings of events without most people noticing.
Totally agree. I like the different mood for the said monsters is DEFINITELY different. As the culture changed, so do the people. One of my theories, being vampires living amongst the higher ranks of society, turned out to be true. It adds so much suspense and mystery.
The scale of the first show was both to its credit and to its detriment. Mainly in the sense that these vampires trying to create kingdoms in the middle of Europe was just completely ridiculous. Like, Carmilla's plan was already crazy in the show, but the show downplays just how insane it really was, her scheme would've brought them into direct conflict with the freakin Holy Roman Empire. Vampires have to be sneaky because otherwise they'd get completely wiped out.
Setting Rondo of Blood and (potentially) Symphony of the Night during the French Revolution? I'm here for it! As long as I get to hear Richter belt out "DIE MONSTER! YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD!" at some point during this series, then everything will be right in the world!
@realityisascam it will at least follow the general outline, if the previous series is any indication. It may not be one-to-one, but since it's Richter's story, and that mage girl we see has a high chance of being Maria Renard, it would follow that this is loosely gonna take elements from Rondo. Double if Alucard shows back up. At that point, then, it'll definitely be in SotN territory.
The build-up in this trailer is so good, the music i think was the best part about this trailer for me, I hope Nocturne does well so we can get more Castlevania stories.
This trailer gave me chills. As a long time Castlevania fan (I learned to spell my name because of Castlevania as a child) I’m very very very excited to see Richter get some screen play.
Just imagine, Dracula was able to rule over all these powerful vampires, as well as creature of the nights. He was truly powerful beyond anything belmonts have faced
Minor reminder that Trevor came from the mid/late 1100s, while the French Revolution/Richter's era is the very late 1700s (in the games, Rondo of Blood is in 1793 and SoTN is in 1796). So outside of a handful of characters, everyone from the first series is long dead. The only ones from the first show we **know** for sure are 'alive', for....wildly various....definitions of 'alive', would be Death, Dracula (after getting re-summoned), Alucard. Technically, many of the monsters too, but they're more 'mass produced' mooks (although Legion has a huge chance of showing up again).
I was wondering why they slipped so much. 500 years is a lot, but they could easily revert back to the past to explain how some things came to be by pausing the current timeline and resuming it later.

We probably won’t, they’ll either be just mentioned or ignored. Simon was and will forever be my absolute favorite Belmont, with Julius being second. It sucks that Richter always gets the shine because of the popularity contest, similar to how SquareEnix always milks the FF VII cow all the time, even though there were so many better FF games and characters other than FF VII’s universe. If I sound bitter, I am lol 😂
I just finished this series a week ago and I got to say I am really impressed with the first season! If you are a fan of Castlevania whether it's in general or fans of the original series from Netflix, then this is highly recommended.

All the belmonts after Trevor have certain magic affinities due to them being descendants of Sypha Belandes. And Juste is by far the most well versed in magic z next up is Richter. And while Julius isn't as good as them in using magic he is still the most OP Belmont of all time, so powerful that Dracula is outright enraged by his mere presence
Not something that gets explored enough in the games but it's definitely implied. I think Juste in the GBA game is the Belmont that's most in-tune with the Belnades magic.

The castlevania story around Trevor was such a masterpiece. Animation, sound, character development, story, all of it. I loved the build-up to camillas fight, the complete alternate paths of her sisters. Isaac such an amazing character. All his dialogues were so captivating, and so much more that was just so well done and complex. This trailer looks good and it seems like it has improved on the visuals, but can it hold up to the other aspects? We will see, but I have high hopes. It got me excited.
This world is so ripe, and the writers for this series seemingly have a love and feel for its potential. I'm so excited! I hope they will keep going. They can say so much more with this vehicle.
Castlevania is one of the best franchises and definitely one of the best shows on Netflix. Great to see this world coming back with stellar animation. Give the animators a raise because it looks GORGEOUS 👏

The Castlevania series is one of the best shows I've ever watched period. So incredibly well written, well animated, and voice acting is perfect. The story and attention to detail is next level. I'm not crazy about most animated series (there's some great ones though), but this is S tier.
I didn't even know they were producing more Castlevania's on Netflix. I watched all 4 seasons and loved every bit of it and it looks like I will be loving this one too
They have quite a few Castlevania games and stories to work with here, as long they keep on delivering we’ll one day end up with just as many Castlevania shows

I think this one's going to be fighting Elizabeth Bathory, a real life Hungarian countess who believed bathing in the blood of virgins would preserve her youth. At the time noble's were unprosecutable, so she went unpunished until she literally ran out of peasants who qualified. Upon killing other noble's however she was reminded they too were also above the law, and thus able to seal her in her bedroom for the rest of her natural life (presumably there was a lil door for food, because none of them wanted to set a president that executing nobles was okay... yeah.) TL;DR as the embodiment of aristocratic corruption & a person routine portrayed as a vampire, she's ideal figurehead for a vampire conspiracy to stop the French Revolution! (also I think she was in at least one Castlevania game, as a vampire)

This looks epic! Begging Netflix to please learn from their successes - make cool things, and make more of each cool thing. That's all I want! Give the cool shows more than 5 episodes per season and stop canceling them after 1 or 2 seasons. Learn from Castlevania!! Pay the creators and reward the customers by giving shows more and cooler content with longer/deeper stories. This looks awesome, so excited for it!!

Castlevania has always been a franchise spanning across centuries with a multitude of changing protagonists so it is pretty unavoidable that it would go down this route of recasting the entire show. I'm on board with it in theory, hopefully Richter can live up to Trevor's legacy.
I think Alucard'll probably be here and everywhere else since he's alive even in aria of sorrow and dawn of sorrow as arikado (I haven't played the games past that but he's in the new controversial mobile game too)
What I love about the show is how it doesn't hold back, it literally shows dead children & monsters killing babies, an entire village of families are burned alive & absorbed by a night creature, a village judge takes pleasure in killing young children in that spike pit by the apple tree, the Catholic church are depicted as hostile & antagonistic. Yet, the animation & art are sublime, the action is choreographed expertly & the comedy is brilliant, so very looking forward to this.
Because it's for YA and adults. There is a very big push in portraying animation as only for children and Castlevania is a good example of adult animation well done. We need more of this tbh

An anthology series could also work, allowing them to tell shorter stories with characters from all over the Castlevania timeline.

The animation and action sequences look dope! And also having it take place during the french revolution is perfect for Richter Belmont's character. I have no doubt that the season will deliver on every level!

Richter has some big shoes to fill. Trevor is one of my favourites of all time, with his balls to the walls, tired-of-this-shit attitude. Richter looks like he's plagued by his own demons, but unlike Trevor, he can't control his demons yet. We'll be seeing some great character developement this season.

Netflix had its blunders, but when it comes to Castlevania they've done a great job. And I'm happy to see that the quality didn't drop for the new series, judging by this trailer the visuals are actually better.

I'll never forget the bloody tears track playing with a fight scene in Dracula castle during the first series, they're obviously paying attention to the fans of this game series and taking note of the little nostalgic things we love. People keep saying how good the animation looks but damn the voice acting is also really good in this, so grounded and realistic feeling, much better than the over-the-top voice acting on dubs of other animated series!
The first 4 seasons were amazing as well.
Anime dub in general should just be having proper voice acting based on the contextual interpretation of the scenes adapted to one's own natural voice acting ability and range, rather than trying too hard to emulate the best impression of the original voice lines in another language.

I love how the music starts from soothing to epic blaring music.. this trailer is a masterpiece !
I enjoyed how the first saga was a feeling of "Vampire killers saving a dystopian world." vibe where everybody was like "Yeah, monsters and vampires are real, get over it." It made it fun and intense leading up the that badass climactic final battle.
Nocturne seems more like a "Vampires? Ha! Fairy tales." vibe with monsters hiding amongst the people of a more modern world. So a bit more mystery, a bit less total destruction and large scale warfare.
It'll be fun to see how they handle that transition and maintain the action-packed violence and bloodshed. From the trailer it seems like we're getting plenty of badassery. So having it in a different setting, more personal confined circumstances, should be fun.
I think the same, instead of letting humanity rally against a common enemy the vampires learned and let them forget they exist, so those few that still fight against them become just raving lunatic fighting against fairy tales, and they can pull the strings of events without most people noticing.
Totally agree. I like the different mood for the said monsters is DEFINITELY different. As the culture changed, so do the people. One of my theories, being vampires living amongst the higher ranks of society, turned out to be true. It adds so much suspense and mystery.
The scale of the first show was both to its credit and to its detriment. Mainly in the sense that these vampires trying to create kingdoms in the middle of Europe was just completely ridiculous. Like, Carmilla's plan was already crazy in the show, but the show downplays just how insane it really was, her scheme would've brought them into direct conflict with the freakin Holy Roman Empire. Vampires have to be sneaky because otherwise they'd get completely wiped out.
The first series was definitely magical realism. Nocturne feels like contemporary fantasy.

@realityisascam it will at least follow the general outline, if the previous series is any indication. It may not be one-to-one, but since it's Richter's story, and that mage girl we see has a high chance of being Maria Renard, it would follow that this is loosely gonna take elements from Rondo.

The build-up in this trailer is so good, the music i think was the best part about this trailer for me, I hope Nocturne does well so we can get more Castlevania stories.

Castlevania was one of my favorite shows ever. So happy to be transported to that world again
Minor reminder that Trevor came from the mid/late 1100s, while the French Revolution/Richter's era is the very late 1700s (in the games, Rondo of Blood is in 1793 and SoTN is in 1796). So outside of a handful of characters, everyone from the first series is long dead. The only ones from the first show we **know** for sure are 'alive', for....wildly various....definitions of 'alive', would be Death, Dracula (after getting re-summoned), Alucard. Technically, many of the monsters too, but they're more 'mass produced' mooks (although Legion has a huge chance of showing up again).

I just finished this series a week ago and I got to say I am really impressed with the first season! If you are a fan of Castlevania whether it's in general or fans of the original series from Netflix, then this is highly recommended.
Castlevania has become one of my favorite anime and seeing the production of this makes me happy that there will be more!

All the belmonts after Trevor have certain magic affinities due to them being descendants of Sypha Belandes. And Juste is by far the most well versed in magic z next up is Richter. And while Julius isn't as good as them in using magic he is still the most OP Belmont of all time, so powerful that Dracula is outright enraged by his mere presence
This and the opening to Castlevania never fails to give me chills, I really hope this will be just as good as its predecessor.

I CANNOT get over this soundtrack, it is a work of both art and genius.
The castlevania story around Trevor was such a masterpiece. Animation, sound, character development, story, all of it. I loved the build-up to camillas fight, the complete alternate paths of her sisters. Isaac such an amazing character. All his dialogues were so captivating, and so much more that was just so well done and complex. This trailer looks good and it seems like it has improved on the visuals, but can it hold up to the other aspects? We will see, but I have high hopes. It got me excited.
Isaac was probably my favorite character. His arc was good, but I really loved all of the show. I'm so glad they're doing more.

The Castlevania series is one of the best shows I've ever watched period. So incredibly well written, well animated, and voice acting is perfect. The story and attention to detail is next level. I'm not crazy about most animated series (there's some great ones though), but this is S tier.

I think this one's going to be fighting Elizabeth Bathory, a real life Hungarian countess who believed bathing in the blood of virgins would preserve her youth. At the time noble's were unprosecutable, so she went unpunished until she literally ran out of peasants who qualified.
Upon killing other noble's however she was reminded they too were also above the law, and thus able to seal her in her bedroom for the rest of her natural life (presumably there was a lil door for food, because none of them wanted to set a president that executing nobles was okay... yeah.)
TL;DR as the embodiment of aristocratic corruption & a person routine portrayed as a vampire, she's ideal figurehead for a vampire conspiracy to stop the French Revolution! (also I think she was in at least one Castlevania game, as a vampire)

Alucard still survives to the current day. His last appearance in canon was in the year 2036 in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

Just did the research. Sypha is female, but posed as a man in castlevania 3 which is why the manual describes her as a man. My mistake
This looks epic! Begging Netflix to please learn from their successes - make cool things, and make more of each cool thing. That's all I want! Give the cool shows more than 5 episodes per season and stop canceling them after 1 or 2 seasons. Learn from Castlevania!! Pay the creators and reward the customers by giving shows more and cooler content with longer/deeper stories. This looks awesome, so excited for it!!

Castlevania has always been a franchise spanning across centuries with a multitude of changing protagonists so it is pretty unavoidable that it would go down this route of recasting the entire show. I'm on board with it in theory, hopefully Richter can live up to Trevor's legacy.
I think Alucard'll probably be here and everywhere else since he's alive even in aria of sorrow and dawn of sorrow as arikado (I haven't played the games past that but he's in the new controversial mobile game too)
Castlevania nocturne is a absolutely sensation I hope the second season will come out soon
What I love about the show is how it doesn't hold back, it literally shows dead children & monsters killing babies, an entire village of families are burned alive & absorbed by a night creature, a village judge takes pleasure in killing young children in that spike pit by the apple tree, the Catholic church are depicted as hostile & antagonistic.
Yet, the animation & art are sublime, the action is choreographed expertly & the comedy is brilliant, so very looking forward to this.
Because it's for YA and adults. There is a very big push in portraying animation as only for children and Castlevania is a good example of adult animation well done. We need more of this tbh

I would like the series to maintain the quality level of season 1 and 2 of the series since they felt more castlevania instead of season 3 and 4 where it already seemed like another fantasy series.

I have zero expectations for this.

This is brilliant. I hope Nocturne does well so we can get more Castlevania series like this! I'd personally love to see them adapt the Sorrow games with Soma Cruz next! An anthology series could also work, allowing them to tell shorter stories with characters from all over the Castlevania timeline.
I think the sorrow games are way further down the timeline so I don’t think they’d do them next, but yeah I’d love to see their take on soma and his games

Richter has some big shoes to fill. Trevor is one of my favourites of all time, with his balls to the walls, tired-of-this-shit attitude.
Richter looks like he's plagued by his own demons, but unlike Trevor, he can't control his demons yet. We'll be seeing some great character developement this season.
Well that plays well for the SotN Storyline where Ritcher gets seduced by the darkness requiring Alucard to step in.
To Be Fair, It looks like Richter is still new to this whole affair while Trevor knows how to deal with shit like Vampires and what not. Richter seems to be in his, what? Late Teens? Early 20's? But you are right. Lots of room for great character development.

That said. Richter is the strongest belmondo and is personally in charge of bringing forth powerful vampire slayers, til his great, great, great grandchild Julian, who is one of the few member who _permanently_ destroys Dracula centuries later.
Also, Julian is somehow more powerful than he is, w Richter blasting thru the castlevania like nothing...
