If you have BMW that leaks engine oil and the leak comes from the oil pan drain plug we will explain what can cause that. You may notice that your car starts leaking oil after you had your oil changed. We will explain what causes that oil leak and how to fix it. We got a 2013 BMW 528i that is leaking engine oil around the oil pan drain plug and this is a very common problem on BMW vehicles because some models use plastic drain plug and o-ring (not so typical for other cars). Do you have any ideas on how to remove the plug if the socket is stripped? The wrench won't grab because the socket is now round instead of a hexagon

I have a 2013 bmw x3. The oil drain plug is metal with an aluminum washer and is leaking. It doesn't allow me to tighten the screw.
Please help. Can't afford to pay the dealer.
I will try to get a new bolt to see if that helps.

@@dominicfrevola5709 Yes, the original oil bolt was too small and/or threads on oil pain hole were a little bigger and probably got misthreaded as well.
I bought a set on ebay that comes with a bolt 1 size thicker than original and with the tool to redo the thread slightly bigger and it worked.
Have you tried replacing the crusher washer with a new one? I see that being a big deal sometimes.
I gotta 2013 x1. I have to change the oil today. I’m praying for a metal drain plug. All I have to do use replace the crusher bolt and torque to spec.
How do we get the o ring that’s stuck in the oil pan out, is that what’s causing the leak?
I'm having a leak there too. I took the whole trans oil pan out and replaced the gasket but couldnt get the drain plug out to check to see if that was the issue.
May I suggest if you have a STRONG accent and speak extremely fast you will not be understood by English speaking people ………..
8nm is hand tighten, SNUGGED, no need for a torque meter
