I discovered when i was a kid that all the black keys was a usable scale. With only a little trip of not bridgeing across both C# and D# in the same chord you can basically play whatever you want and it will sound ok. Including a pretty good approximation of the Escape From NY theme.
This comment reminds me of when I started learning piano and started using C# and Eb instead of playing everything in C major, it was easier to get used to scales, intervals and understanding how black keys works
It just takes practice. You need to walk through songs at a slow pace to allow your hands to coordinate and get used to the timing. Once that happens you’ll find your hands getting more independent and actually learning other songs is easier with 2 hands!
