I recall seeing this when it first aired. My goodness 23 years ago. I had a hard time hearing the difference between the incorrect chords and the right ones. Can hear it now sorta :) I bought the Piano Man album when it came out in 1973ish, finally made it to see Billy live in 1978 - the first of several times over the next 20 years. That first time I saw him I thought a couple things: wow Billy Joel is nearly as good a live act as Bruce Springsteen- the energy, the show …and with more accessible songs than Bruce. The second thing was how much a part of the music and live show Liberty DeVito was. He’s one of the great rock drummers, totally elevated Billy’s music.
The sheet music is wrong by the way..hahahaha it's actually genius but so funny and also his mimic when James Lipton said: I think it's your most popular song.. is priceless. Thanks for uploading this stuff.
Billy Joel early on in his career(not the Metal/Zeppelin hard rock wannabe Billy) Piano man/ Captain Jack,etc., were so much better than the yuppie tripe he's made since(just the way you are/Uptown girl)... What a descent into corporate middle of the road 13 yr old girls like it/75 yr old grannies too - musical hell. When Billy went to USSR to supposedly introduce "rock" to those poor deprived russkies - the unspoken truth was the kids hated it--they wanted ROCK; The Who/ Stones/Zeppelin etc., and they had to pay people and place them in the orchestra seats so they could film them enjoying that crap -uptown girl/just the way you are. Poor Russian kids, wait their whole lives to see hard rockin' music, and they get jewish rock from Oyster Bay... SHOULD HAVE SENT THE REAL ROCK FROM OYSTER BAY - THE BOC !!
The record company thought otherwise…same thing happened with Journey.Time to start getting some return on investment. And Columbia Records got their monies worth.

He's also an actor that Linda Ronstadt impression's brilliant.
Keith Moon was the inspiration for Animal but Liberty Devitto did kick ass (he still does , in fact).
Actually, Animal from the Muppets was said to be a combination of Keith Moon and Mick Fleetwood, which makes total sense.
