I always wanted to know this, but you should have pressure washed off the dust and dirt before replacing the hood. That's what I will do when I get my 4C. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the cool video. I always wonder what was under the hood. My family car in the 1980s was an Alfetta 4 door sedan. My childhood was basically spent at our mechanic's shop because the car was so unreliable. As an adult, I only drive Alfas in Italy, either through a rental company or one of my cousin's cars. I have neither the patience nor the good humor to own one in the States as much as I love the brand.
😂 I can't afford a 4C but I always wondered why it didn't have a hood other than the actual hood for the engine. Until I can't afford one I better start looking for an Abarth😅
You have to ask yourself why the radiator is enclosed? Thanks for the video and weird noises, now I know I only have to pull the one windshield washer hose to remove the hood. May as well top off the brake fluid while you're in there huh? I'm really looking forward to working on my 4C, they should have called this car the Quirk. Everything including a simple air filter change is a pain in the ass on this car but you just have to love it anyway.
The radiator vents out the bottom. I think the 4C is actually pretty easy to work on considering it's exotic nature. Everything just kind of bolts together like legos :)
Do any of you get water get in to the upper mounting threaded posts like I did? I'm talking the areas where the hood mounts next to windshield cowl. Two of mine got completely rusted and seized. Those posts are glued to the chassis and to my knowledge cant be purchased. Im going to have to custom fab mines up.
Thanks for the video. Got some work done and the washer fluid hose wasn’t reconnected. Your video showed me where to look for the hose and I was able to reconnect without removing the bonnet.
i don't even own a 4c but always wondered what might be hidden under there
Mystery solved. Thank you. A rare car with a sealed hood.
Just watched Doug’s review on this and couldn’t resist the cursorily of seeing what’s underneath that hood. Nice vid.
Glad you liked it!
The count from Sesame Street reference was priceless.
Omg that hood holder is hysterical!!
Actually made me lol.
Like a real one.
Aah I had hoped you could relocate some stuff and make a frunk. But it seems really full, especially with the steering rack right in the middle
Good thing I have a Abarth to hold the hood! Thanks for the video :)
Great video but I believe it is much easier if you just completely disconnect the windshield wiper to avoid the hassle of moving the hood around it
now i understand why i didn't see any other people try to open it for past 6 years the car was out
LoL

There’s a charming air of This Old Tony about you
haha, thanks! I enjoy watching him, too.
Nice video and well done. If done right you can eliminate replacing the hood seal although dealerships always replace it to eliminate chance of leaks.
Thanks!
Holly crap! You didn’t break your windshield? That’s amazing! Two hard hits from the wiper arm would’ve broken most windshields
They were more like light taps. Plus don't forget the rag... LoL
I am shocked he did break the windshield.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Alfas aren't for normies ;)
Your count voice is pretty good 👍🏼
ahahah... Thanks!
I figured it was some Count, Dracula or Chocula 😅

Great video. Whoever designed this needs to go back to design school (if they are old enough)
Thanks!

Is there any reason why you did not disconnect all the windshield wipers? To me it seems the easiest way to proceed. Thanks in advance
There's only one wiper. Are you talking about removing the arm? Would need the hood off to get to the bolt that holds the arm on.
Very informative , can you do one on the front bumber next

I haven't had that problem, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks!
Do you know if you need to remove the hood to replace a headlamp? I guess yes but would
Be great to confirm before.
No, there's flaps in the wheel well liner that let you access the back of the headlamps.
Yesss!!! Thanks!!! Do you still have the car?
Yep! I still have the car. No intentions of ever getting rid of it ;)
@@BookAutowerks do you have an Instagram? Or anything? I see you wrench on you car also but I need a favor lol was wondering if I can message you
now i wanna see how to reconnect those tubes....ahuahuahuauhhua
So let me known if I'm correct, have you to do all this sequence every time you need to change the brake fluid or the wiper liquid?
Brake fluid, yes. You can fill the wiper fluid without removing the hood.
Great video, and great cars
Thanks fir the walk through
You're welcome!
Where’s the blinker fluid reservoir???
Just above the radiator springs.
So you have to do this entire process to top up your windshield fluid?
No. There's a small screen in the cowl area you can remove and refill the fluids from there.
Now why on Earth didn’t they just make a normal hood which you could open with a button?
Only needs to be opened once every 2-3 years. Bolts are lighter than hinges and latches ;)
@@BookAutowerks good explanation! Would always prefer a lighter car with some compromises ;)
Whats a clutch replacement cost
Haven't had to do that yet... Would be best to contact your local Alfa dealer for a quote.
Thanks for the video. Got some work done and the washer fluid hose wasn’t reconnected. Your video showed me where to look for the hose and I was able to reconnect without removing the bonnet.
Glad I could help!
The same has happened to me. Well I'm hoping this is the reason the wiper fliuid isn't coming out. Can you explain how you managed to fix it?
@@jonobrain1 when I removed the hood I found the disconnected hose and reconnected it.
@@daviddelavega8636 thanks David. I was hoping not to have to remove the bonnet
@@jonobrain1 unfortunately you need to at least lift the bonnet enough to reach in and reconnect.
Well thats a fk around
Looks horrifying
Great! 👍
Have you done the fastener service on your 4C?
Yes. I did all the stuff in the front while I had the hood off.
Did you find many that were loose?@@BookAutowerks
Nothing was loose, but several fasteners were a little below the spec.
Thank you, I will wait till mine hits 12K and go through making notes
@@BookAutowerks where did you get the bolt spec, nice video
Muchas gracias por compartirlo
Has anyone modded this for a quick release/opening? Like hood pins or something.
Would be pretty easy to do, but not really necessary. You only need to get in there once every 2-3 years.
really helpfull - thanks a lot !!!!
Love the video, hate the car lol
Welp, guess I know which car I'll never buy in the future. Guess I'll stick to my mr2. This thing is a joke
4C's design (as in aesthetics) + 4C's design (as in functionality) is just plus minus zero.....
