Funny seeing him step into the cable car and ask how it falls like a passenger on a plane asking if the wings might clip off. Good observation about the legs, too!
This video was really fun! Thank you for bringing us along. Please don't feel pressured by TH-cam, and share what you want when it feels right. Have a great new year!
I second this! This was a very relaxing video to watch. I wish for more like this (whenever you feel like it)! And, as you say, keep the blue side up! ; )
There is nothing funnier than knowing you got up, started the camera, got your wireless mic on, and hopped back under the covers for an intro...I know it is art...just funny.
Don't worry about doing airplane videos or travel videos. Just do what you want to do. Your energy when you're happy and engaged is what's entertaining.
I love his new format. But I think he should still do aviation videos, but only every once in a LONG while, when something truly truly interesting happens. I'd be happy with videos like this however often he wants to post them, plus just one aviation video every few months.
Au contraire. Unwatchable. 1/2 second edits. Warn epileptics. Unsuitable for anyone with a normal attention span. Sensory stimulation elicits excitement, but impairs comprehension.
I saw your mid-life crisis video, and now I saw this. I think you did a good job and you look happier. Go ahead Kelsey and make the videos that cheer your soul and not what the viewers demand. Be happy. You made very professional videos about aviation and sowed a lot in others. Now we will support you at this stage helping you to be happy.
I remember that video well, and I remember the vulnerability he showed us. I was very happy for him to admit that, and am happy now to see him exploring this style. I personally prefer the aviation videos, and while this blog style is not what I would watch every day, I do enjoy it from time to time. I could see him finding a balance of the two. Focusing on aviation as a career and a TH-camr would absolutely suck the joy out of it. I want to see the classic style more, but if he doesn’t return to it, and becomes a vlogger, i will always be appreciative of the content he created in the past, the content I wanted to see all the time. Kels’s personal happiness is far more important than my entertainment. He won’t lose a fan, even if I stop watching - kind of like a band you once liked, but they changed direction; you still respect them, even if you don’t keep up on it. I hope to see Kelsey keep doing the stuff that got me hooked, but it’s ok if he doesn’t.
Love the pace, the music, the energy and the fact that you look happier. Nicely done The city is beautiful and lol that like others of us in aviation you think of ETA even in a car! I hope you had as much fun as it seemed you did!
Omg, I have never seen Kelsey full of smiles! He totally enjoyed it and I totally loved and enjoyed that he took us along with him. He got in a little bit of a hike in and shared the views, wonderful. Keep the blue side up!
Hi Kelsey, this is a dose of nostalgia for me, having spent nearly two years in Ecuador in the late Nineties. Downtown Quito is at about 9300 feet elevation, and as a young man I got used to it pretty quickly but my lungs never could match the locals when it came to climbing endurance. I remember huffing and puffing my way up a hill and being passed by spry 70-year-olds.
I really loved this. Some real "see the world" type of stuff. This is what those of us who are too deaf (or otherwise unable) to be a commercial pilot really dream of. Thanks for letting us experience it with you.
Man, carry on doing these. It's a breath of fresh air for the channel. Quality wins over quantity, if you make a video when you're inspired and not under pressure it's fine for everybody.
You said a while ago you wanted some change, not sure how to go about it. Well, I really like this. I'd say you nailed it. Keep doing what you love and enjoy it. Thank you for those moments you share.
Kelsey, I love this new format! Don’t want to lose the aviation-specific stuff, but it is super fun to see some of the sights of a foreign place. Keep ‘em coming!
Hey Kelsey, I like the way you filmed yourself with the wide angle while walking. I typically don’t like watching videos where people are walking or hiking because they are usually filmed so close to the person that all you can see is their face as they bounce along. The wide angle REALLY helps with being able to share the perspective and awesome views. Quite enjoyable - Thanks!
Kelsey, you were smiling from ear to ear through the entire video. I am so glad you have expanded your channel to include your travel experiences! You look SO happy. And the new content is fascinating. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. It's creative and fun to watch. I am having fun. ❤️
This video was a reminder of my 2 trips to Venezuela 88' & 89' they have a teleferico in Caracas I rode. So similar! We watched the world cup while we were there. Thanks Kelsey for this video!
I hope shooting and editing this video was fun for you, as fun as all the activities in the video seemed to be. It was certainly fun for me to watch. Stay safe and thank you so much for sharing your travels with me and everyone else.
Honestly, I'm loving the new added content. Your channel was awesome before, now it's that much better. Thank you for taking us on the ride. As always, looking forward to the future.
Outstanding. This was the first travel video from seventy-four crew that I have watched. I hope you keep flying various routes, allowing you to continually explore and post these videos. They are very professional, by the way. Lastly, places like Quito have so much going on you can literally post a hundred videos and not cover the same thing twice. My brother is down there right now. If he was a seven four pilot I would send them your way.
Totally loving this! I know everyone gets a lot of hate when they make a change in their content, but this is showing why I follow you: while you're incredibly educational and an obviously competent pilot, it's your personality and love of experiences that brings people in. 1000% looking forward to following you on your future adventures!
This was a funny episode. Having spent quite a bit of time in Latin America you captured it ! The traffic, the soccer, the snippets of beauty interwoven inside urban sprawl, the “what the heck?” when you see something sketchy. Great video. (The combi-style microbus brought a smile to my face!)
I enjoyed this video so much and seeing you enjoying yourself. Keep on sharing and having fun....it's heartwarming, especially knowing where you are coming from after seeing your "Midlife crisis" video. Your aviation videos have brought me so much enjoyment during some dark times in my life, so I know these new installments will put more smiles on this old guy's face. Wishing you a universe of happiness.
Holy cow! I live in Ecuador on the coast. I'm what you would call a digital nomad. Been here for 8 years. Haven't looked back from living in the states for so long. Love the new video. Been a fan for a couple years. Like the new format. Although I'm a pilot, planes get boring.
I'm big fan of the work you've done before and love the new style content that you are doing now too. Don't worry about offending us. Just do you and everything else will work out. FYI, you're correct about llamas; they are bigger. You found some alpacas, which look similar to llamas but are smaller.
Really like that you are including your viewers with your life adventures. It breathes new life into your channel and yourself and creates more of a connection between you and your viewers.
Good Job! As a long time subscriber and aviation enthusiast I have to admit I was a little concerned with your announcement of the theme adjustment to your your channel. You "NAILED IT". Sharing your experiances on your layovers is very welcome! Your edits that include airport environment, crew, and your local adventures adds a lot. You also seem to be having a lot more fun than posting from a hotel room😊
I love the new format! It's your channel, so do what ever you want to do. Your talent for content and personality are what makes it great. So what ever you post will be fine with me. And, take it at what ever pace you choose. Thanks for the great channel!
Okay, just going to say it. Kelsey your the man. Loved it and love seeing a more personal / not so serious side [ which I completely understand during your ATC's videos ] of you. Wish you the best, keep'em coming my friend! GJ!
Damn, I love this format, Kelsey! We get to see other parts of the world and also get to meet some of your colleagues. It was so much fun and I am looking forward to seeing more. Great work.
Honestly man, love seeing this side of you! Absolutely love all your aviation videos but the main reason I watch and many others watch it’s for YOU!!! Getting an insight into your life and getting to see you in a relaxed environment is so amazing! Just hope you enjoy making the more relaxed vidoes and getting to explore more! We love you Kelsey!!
I am thankful you are continuing to post on TH-cam. I appreciate the effort to produce quality content. Very much enjoyed and appreciated. I have learned so much from your posts. Best!
Being from Ecuador (living in the US) and having been watching your channel for a couple years now, this to me is one, if not the best, video I’ve seen of you. Mainly because of how much you’re enjoying yourself but also because you were in my home country. Glad you enjoyed it!
Love seeing your pilot story and education content, but I'm all in to see your adventures in between flying. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. Stay safe!
I was nervous when you said VLog because quality on those, channel to channel, is all over the place. Now I’m not worried, that was excellent! Keep it up!
I LOVE YOUR NEW FORMAT, KELS. I hope you are enjoying yourself making these sort of vlogs instead (or as well) because I sure enjoyed this first one. Looking forward to as many as possible!
Very cool video! Exactly they right length. A perfect "lay over snapshot". You really did a great job. I was able to enjoy this tour with you. Most videos of this kind are trying too hard to make it appear as a super awesome experience. I can't connect with these kinda people/videos. This one feels authentic. Not braggy. Really fun to watch. Thx for the effort of sharing this experience!
Hey man, I’m terribly glad you are changing up your content, rather then shutting down your “74 Gear” channel. I am a Bombardier Global 7500 business class jet captain, and it is the people like you who pilots the queen of the sky’s that I really look up to. I’ve always enjoyed your content, the humor, and I alway enjoy aviation related stories. Me, as a long range business class captain, I can relate to the content like this, because me, and my crew can be laid over for sometimes weeks in places like this, and we’re always looking to enjoying ourselves within that layover time. As we know that lifestyle isn’t for everyone, but it is for us, at least it is at the moment. So I am going to enjoy this kinda content as well as your other nearly 1 million subscribers, and maybe add things to the bucket list, after watching you do fun and interesting things.
Very enjoyable. In my 12 years of international and domestic scheduled service, We didnt get to do much day trippin. It was a quick turn life back in the 90s. You’re kicking the midlife Kelsey. 🎉
I never really liked when other youtubers make vlogs, and I can't pinpoint what it is exactly that you're doing differently than others, but I loved this vlog. Even if you did this every week, I'd still watch it. You've done an awesome job making any of your content fun to watch. You're original videos inspired me to begin the pilot journey, and now that I've got my PPL, your vlogs are inspiring me to get the rest of my ratings so I can finally really get to travel 😆
What Kelsey is doing differently is that his videos don’t follow the same format of a typical TH-cam influencer. He is not spending the majority of the video making sure that his girlfriend’s butt is in the shot. There was that one shot of Vanessa bending over in shiny tight pants. But, that was incidental. 😅 You also, don’t get the feeling that the entire video is about getting free stuff (besides food) from the resorts and other businesses just because a bunch of people follow you.
My favorite quotes from Kelsey in the video WHY DID YOU BRING A FLASHLIGHT??”* I feel your confusion *”it’s all fun and games until Kelsey’s screaming in a cable car.. might be the end of the 74 gear channel”* “I thought llamas were supposed to spit on people?”
Crazy - I was as at that Swissotel two weeks ago. Quito is an amazing city and Ecuador is a beautiful country. The Galápagos Islands are unbelievable too!
What an amazing video man. It feels nice watching a video you obviously had a lot of fun making, just makes this channel even more wholesome. Looking forward to seeing more 😁
Cool, I'm the 747th commenter! Air Force Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Maintenance here... I forgot how spoiled commercial aircraft are about cabin pressures. Many military aircraft only have cabin differential pressures of 5 PSI, so you could be at 12,000 foot cabin pressure at cruse altitude. No wander you are gasping for air at 12,000 feet. Great video! EDIT: Just looked it up, at FL 300 cabin altitude would be 12,000 ft
nice to see you get into your groove again. Hope to finish my computer science studies and become a pilot one day; you are my inspiration. Big up from Jamaica.
Loved this style of videoes. As someone who cannot travel due to health I love getting to see such beautiful scenery from other places in the world. That view looked spectacular.
I feel we get to know you on a different level; by far on a completely different level than most pilot TH-camrs. I'm not the biggest fan of vlogs but I really did enjoy this one. At the end of the day I feel most people here came for the Aviation, but stayed because of you. Furthermore, I have viewed many of the positive comments and I agree with most of them.
Seeing Kelsey walk upon the ground he usually flies over in jeans and a baseball cap, enjoying himself, is a new and beautiful energy. Love it!
I was impressed. I didn't know Kelsey had legs, as he is always sitting down.
@@Denpachii He is stepping into a new chapter, and it looks good. Not a uniform in sight. Whatever is good for his soul is what's right.

I've lived in Ecuador for 18 years. Glad to see you in Quito.
"If you're not outside your comfort zone, then what are you doing?"
For some reason, I really needed to hear that today. Thank you!
This was a great video, I'm loving this new side of your channel! A great addition to your repertoire. Looking forward to seeing more!
I like your new format. It's nice to see a different aspect of your life and travels.
Thanks so much for bringing us along Kelsey it looks like a great place to visit 😄
Love this new format Kelsey!
That view was incredible, thank you for taking us with you!
Loved this style of videoes. As someone who cannot travel due to health I love getting to see such beautiful scenery from other places in the world. That view looked spectacular.
Love the new video style. I started watching you when I start my aviation journey two years ago. Can’t wait to see what you have in store next.
