    I’d like to see you open a shop that specializes in Toyota diesels, swaps maintenance etc. Then you can use customer cars for content and win from YT as well. I’d ship you my 1KZ Surf when I’m back in the states to have you sort it. I absolutely love your content man.

    I 100% intend on doing this swap down the road when it's more realistic for me. These videos help more than you can believe, even if you don't plan on doing the swap. I would have never thought about fabbing up a custom location for that temp sensor. That sounded super complicated at first but after seeing how you did it, it honestly isn't.

    Is that part of the cooling system going to see constant flow? I'm not familiar with the PD engines. I know on the ALH the temp sensor had to go into the water neck on the back of the head so that the thermostat bypass flow would still heat the sensor while the thermostat was closed. Otherwise won't read the actual water temp coming from the head until the thermostat is open.

    • @jimbote1968
      @jimbote1968 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, that sensor needs to be right in that fitting at the head.

    • @austinniemela
      @austinniemela  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? Doesn't the upper hose always have flow?

    • @MonkeyWithAWrench
      @MonkeyWithAWrench 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@austinniemela If the PD cooling system is the same as the ALH, then no, the radiator is fully blocked off while the thermostat is closed. the thermostat is double acting, meaning it closes off the flow to the radiator while its cold so it can get up to temp, but to keep the temps uniform throughout the motor it uses a bypass. on the ALH this is the EGR cooler and the oil cooler. those two loops are also what supply the hot water to the thermostat to open it. The steel return line that runs along the block to the water pump will have full flow when the engine is cold, then as it heats up the thermostat opens the lower radiator hose up to let cold coolant in to cool the motor, simultaneously restricting the hot coolant being recirculated from the EGR cooler and the oil cooler, as both of those are supplied from the back of the head.

    What's the max temp that hose can deal with?? On your Turbo part ...i think a braided steel hose would be minimum for that Hot a place to use a hose....Exhaust areas require extra caution....it may work short term but long term use is dependable....
    Just asking...ok
