"Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht, ich habe euch etwas mitgebracht" is from a kids TV show in the 70th. It was called Sandmänchen. The Sandmächnen puts sand into the eys of the kids, so they must sleep. I remeber that from the 70th when I was a kid. It was a daily 10 minute show at 7:30 pm and after that all kids went to bed. This is a good night song for little children. :)
Till is the line between genius and insanity. I love him. By the way, I've watched ALOT of reaction videos to this, and kept waiting for SOMEONE to react to the SMILE. Nobody did, until you guys. You two TOTALLY "GET IT". BRAVO.

I love the original but this is something else, with its mixture of unnerving horror and pathos. Chilling and brilliant. And that echoing piano....
I simply adore this side of Rammstein - songs like "Mein Herz Brennt", "Ohne Dich", "Amour"...

Sven Helbig's piano arrangement is just sublime. He has also an instrumental version (without Till's voice) in his spotify.

For me, Till is the better choice for Stephen King's "IT" here. All he has to do in the movie is stand there and stare at you and you shit yourself until you drop dead.
He could never be IT, he loves kids way too much. Even when he was writing a children's book for his grandson about all the horrible things that can happen in the world, the main theme throughout was, "but you are safe with Opa".

Til's performance in this video makes me think of a combination of Heath Ledger's Joker and Canio the clown from the opera Pagliacci . Spine chilling the way that he warns about nightmares, everything from the make up to that almost rictus grin that fades in such a sinister way. I like the way that at the end of the song he returns to the cellar from where the demons of the nightmare come. Absolutely spell-binding, like watching an accident in progress-you want to look away, but you just can't. So unlike the performances that people expect from Rammstein.

As far as I understand, the lyrics of this song are about a German folk story about a demon who bring nightmares to kids. The metal version of music sounds to me like the point of view of the tortured who lived through it, but this version seems to me made from the point of view of the demon, the torturer, who has no choice but carrying a task he can't stand. I might be wrong but these are the vibes I get from the two different versions of this song.
There is already a Rammstein opera, it is called a concert.

For me, this song is about mental illness/being abuse, loneliness in it, and not being able to cope with your nightmares... So haunting. So painful.

They didn't make him up like that for the video, he took off his mask after filming the 'normal' version and looked so good and in character that the director urged him to film this segment. He's still wearing the long black dress from the other video too. If you can't recognize him in the makeup in the original, he's the bassist that's in the focus when the basses first come in at the start :D
This is my fave band to watch live. Watched them in New York and it was actually my first concert ever. Talk about some high expectations haha

There's also a video for the original metal version, which basically serves as part 2 of this video. It was a weird thing when these videos were released because it was many years after the album its from (Mutter, 2001).

There are three different videos on this song: The official piano version, the official video and the Eugenio Recuenco version. When they made the non piano version the first director was the Spanish photographer E. Recuenco. Rammstein was not satisfied with the video and did it again with an Zohan Bihac. The Recuenco version has much stronger pictures in it but is weaker in telling a story. I'll be really interested to see how you feel about the 'full' version of this. Both are official videos, one is this weirdly beautiful version, which I think is equal to, but obviously different from, the original rock version. Both are f***ing fabulous. You do need to look at the official of the full version though. You'll love it I hope.
The "towel" is a shoulder-free, loong gown. You can see it rather clearly when he walks around the pit's edge.

Did you notice it? At the very end as the lights are fading the white smoke? I believe the white smoke/mist you see in the very end as the lights slowly go off was his spirit/Soul.
I think that he was finally able to ascend...after making sure all the children were safe and at the same time atoning for his past sins he was finally set free.
The original was released in 2001 then the piano version in 2012 so it follows the story from Till in the orphanage to protecting the kids and the emotions he shows is mainly anger followed by sadness then in the piano version his emotions are kinda bitter sweet? He realizes he had to do things he didn't want to do to save the children.so now that he's done, he is finally set free.
This is from an old German children's show in Germany; I live in Austria.. But this is about nightmares, and the evil Sandman.

Fun facts that may, or may not, add to the creep factor. As I understand it, both videos for this song were shot in an abandoned hospital I won't name as it's currently all undergoing significant restoration and work. In addition, it's said this hospital treated a young corporal in World War I who inhaled some mustard gas before becoming, briefly, the leader of most of Europe.
the sound is hauntingly beautiful, but also very creepy, and the shooting location adds to the creepiness a lot, both of the videos (this and the official music video), were shot at beelitz-heilstätten, a military hospital for the german soldiers during both of the world wars. during ww1 a guy named hitler got treated there and got some of the inspiration for his arts and books, at the end of both world wars, the hospital was taken over by the soviets to treat their wounded. the main building where this and the original music video was shot, has been abandoned and left to rot by the german state for almost 80 years, but some smaller buildings around the area have been renovated for tourism.
With this as a background information you could probably think of it as the voice from the pillow being Hitlers ideas poisoning the youth of a generation, coming straight from his burning heart which he tore from his chest, leaving nothing there. Haven't seen any interpretations yet so that is just me throwing something together ;)

Ich habe am Wochenende Zug, Hotel und Spaß gebucht, da Rammstein einfach kein Konzert ist. Sie sind die beste Live-Band aller Zeiten, kaum eine. Es ist einfach Performancekunst und ich habe sie immer geliebt.
