His signature move is called the Till-Hammer.
He laughed because his gesture did not fit the line he was singing. He put the hand to his ear while singing „can you see me?“

@Necramonium Nah look closely, he said can you see me and pointed to the crowd, then then the buzz sound came up, so he put his hand behind his ear and looked up as if he's saying: wtf is this sound!! you can see the look on his face when the buzz sound came out of nowhere

The song is irony in itself. Do not glorify anyone, do not trust anyone who says trust me and does not follow anyone who stands in front of you and claims to be in possession of the truth. A little mass psychology experiment.

4:02 Till's problem with "not understanding" isn't that he can't hear people, it's because he can't comprehend why they're going along with it.

Being a perfectionist myself, one of the many, many, many things that I appreciate about Rammstein (which really is everything!) is their precision in everything they do. In this video, as well as others, I was noticing how the pyrotechnics are perfect. They go off at the perfect time. Whether it's to a drumbeat, a guitar chord or someone's movement, it's perfect. It's the details, man!
Also, if you want something a little different from Till, check out Mathematik from Till's side project. It's a different gendre than he normally does, but he puts his unique spin on it.
Thanks for all the reviews. I really enjoy them! Especially the Rammstein ones!

there is a brilliance behind the "i don't understand you" (they mention this in interviews)
It is at first glance a call to the audience to reply back (do it louder!), but the second meaning is the singer not understanding "why are you doing this? why are you giving me all this power? i dont understand you (what you are doing)"
Rammstein has a thing for double entendres like that

To me, this song is always about how easy it is to manipulate the masses. He does not even tell them what they should believe in but they just answer that they are with him. The song is fantastic but it's also pretty scary.
We like to judge people who trust in dictators but Rammstein are showing the crowd how easy it is for them to control the audience.
I've seen that live multiple times. It always gives me chills when the audience responses to him. Great piece of art.

Nop. It is not about the fans. It is about the Gladbeck hostage crisis in which the criminals was hyped and given a platform, speaking with the press whilst pointing guns at the heads of the hostages (which later on died). It is a critique toward selves-exposing. Which is also a “little” ironic being presented in this way.

I think the lyrics are much deeper. Rammstein is mix of metal and electronic music with an industrial feeling. Many industrial bands have a special realshionship to fashim. This song shows how you can control a crowd by giving them a good feeling. And when you compare this performance to a speach of Hitler, you see that the crowd reacts equal. Remember the verse: "we want you to trust to us" and "we want you to belive us".

    • @annegretkasten6277
      @annegretkasten6277 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, you can compare Trump's audience. I don't think Hitler is a good example, since there was no television and so on back then. There was only the newsreel in the cinema. This was already provided by the Nazis.

Rammstein are a weapon live and the incredible crowd control is a trademark of them and no matter in which country they play, the audience sings in German like here in Paris - th-cam.com/video/U5HAEzEk8QM/w-d-xo.html 🆒.
By the way Til does this specific move cause he had dislocated his knee before a concert and repeatedly hit it in the backstage area to bring it back in. The other band members found this movement totally cool so that he took it over for the stage !
And please notice Til holds his hand behind his ear and then asks : Can you see me and has to laugh at himself 😅👍
Please look at the live performance of "Ich will" - th-cam.com/video/QkBPoGCPE04/w-d-xo.html - "Rock am Ring" is one of the biggest festival events in Germany. The Ring, which we say, is the legendary Formula 1 race track "Nürburgring", located in the middle of a central mountain of Germany, the "Volcano - Eifel" an there are more than 85000 fans on the target line and I was right in the middle 😜 😉 and not only the few thousand hardcore fans directly in front of the stage answer Til's questions, but actually the entire audience down to the last row - INCREDIBLE 👍 !
Another pure madness with with the audience - th-cam.com/video/fAaIFUXj4-8/w-d-xo.html
At some point Ramstein discovered that you can make up with instant coffee. According to concentration, black to red spots appear, which looks like dirt or blood. Flake was hyper nervous all the time during an earlier tour. What did he forget ? That he was made up with lots of coffee in the evening during every concert 😂 - Maybe the reason why he needs a treadmill 😄😉
But without Flake Rammstein would never have been what they are. Again and again he is only moved into the nerd corner and underestimated enormously. What most people remember is only the treadmill he is running on while playing. Most of the Rammstein pieces are backed by a mostly inconspicuous but sometimes bombastically symphonic sound body combined with techno elements and so much more. It´s done so cleverly that it is hardly noticeable in the foreground. But if you take it out of the equation and mix it away at the mixer console, the rest sounds almost like any metal band. Together with the typical Rammstein monster guitar riffs the keyboards in the background fill up the entire sound, make things round, and not at least because of this Rammstein sound so unique !

Exactly this concert in Germany took place about 20 km from where I lived and you could still hear it over a hill in between and see the light show flickering in the distance. You could clearly experience the sound level at which Rammstein are traveling 💥🙉 🤯
This melodic sound together with the unbelieveble power that Rammstein brings over is also to be seen here - th-cam.com/video/Uq41Fmw5CGI/w-d-xo.html Apart from the fact that Til is a trained pyrotechnician, at Rammstein concerts a special stage worker is very close to the stage and is connected by a microphone to the person who controls the fire. He feels the temperature on his cheek and gives corresponding instructions whether you can still step it up a notch or the flames have to be reduced.

"Tills Hammer" was born out of necessity when his kneecap jumped out during a performance and he "punched it back in"

    Some Fun-Facts regarding Rammstein:
The band was founded in Berlin in 1994. So, this has been after the reunion of West-Germany (FRG) and the former socialistic East-Germany (GDR) in 1990. All of Rammsteins current band members are coming from the former GDR (German Democratic Republic) and SOME of the band members were playing in two Punk bands during the existence and after the fall of the GDR: "Feeling B" and "Die Firma".
Die Firma (engl. the Company) has been the nickname of the former Staatssicherheitsdienst (Stasi = State Security Service) that has been spying on and arresting people for (mostly political) crimes. And Punkbands were a popular target for the Stasi due to anarchistic and subversive speeches and actions. The band "Die Firma" existed from 1983 to 1993, two of the band members later joined Rammstein: Paul Landers and Christoph Schneider. A very delicate background story of "Die Firma": The founder of the band, Frank "Troetsch" Troeger, has been an "unofficial staffer" (=spy) of the Stasi.
Feeling B existed from 1983 to 1993 too. The original band name should have been "Feeling Berlin". As there already has been a band with the same name in Berlin, they had to redefine the band name. All of Feeling B's albums are pure punk with exeption of the last one in 1993: Die Maske des roten Todes (Mask of the red dead). With this one they mixed up medieval songs with rock. So, they have been pioneers of the medieval rock genre. 3 of todays Rammstein band members also played in "Feeling B": Paul Landers, Christoph Schneider and Christian "Flake" Lorenz.

But Schneider was only a guest drummer there. He didn't like it either and left the band. He also didn't want Paul to be admitted. But Kruspe and Till prevailed. They came to Berlin from Schwerin, a city on the Baltic Sea. Paul was already very well connected in Berlin. 😊

Kruspe, Lindemann, Riedel and Schneider were the founding members. They all came from Schwerin. Although Schneider was born in Berlin. But they all played in Schwerin at that time

Watching the clip with this song will give more context. It is about criminals being glorified by the media and everyone adoring them. Getting the chance to be heard and seen and thus influencing people.

The story I heard is that his kneecap had a tendency to dislocate itself (old swimming injury) and it happened one day while he was performing so he hammered it back into place lol
