    Till is wearing the outfit of a female opera singer.
    He is the Sandman, and even if he looks scary he's a positive force. Demons creep out of the basement at night to scare children, and he sings to fight them back, he's a light in the darkness that protects the children until dawn. This comes with a price, and he has emotional and physical scars to prove it.

    It's the horror version of the Sandman. In Germany, a cute little man who tells the children good night stories so that they can sleep nicely. Till is the nightmare version here.

      Also at the same time it displays the brokenness of that sandman character, that is addicted to the childrens nightmares (press them into my cold veins) but doesn't actually want to harm the children. Therefore his heart burns, at least until the sun arrives (at that point you see the tiny trail of smoke when it is extinguished)
      By the way, the non-piano version of this song goes into another direction, solely by means of a different sound and a totally different video. There it is about the children growing up and leaving their childhood nightmares behind them.

    • @lamperouge3615
      @lamperouge3615 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Actually this goes back one more step:
      The sandman originates from E.T.A. Hoffmanns "Der Sandmann" from 1816. There, the sandman is definetly not a nice creature putting children to rest, but rather a horrifying man who is said to throw sand in childrens eyes until they fall out, if they don't go to sleep.
      Later on this figure was rewritten to a nice figure having magical dust to make you sleepy.
      Rammsteins "Mein Herz brennt" is just another interpretation of that figure, this time telling a story from the sandmans perspective

    Imagine your heart burns for someone. But this one is not interested in you! This is how your heart torments you and you keep retreating. Then at some point it turns into anger, anger, hatred. This is how the contrasts of the gentle music, the deep voice and the bizarre mask on the face can be understood.

  • @larryc3860
    @larryc3860 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Till portrays the 'Sandman', who comes to children in the night to (a) save them from the monsters in their nightmares or (b) allow the torment to continue until the light of morning from heaven arrives ( ein heller schein am firmament )....... "Pay attention, dear children" ( nun liebe kinder gebt fein Acht ) "I am the voice from the pillow" ( ich bin die stimmer aus dem kissen )......while the Sandman is terrifying, he cares for the children, which is why his heart 'burns' ( mein herz brennt ) ......

    Happy birthday, Brandy.
    My understanding is that the song is about the Sandman, the one who visits children and helps them get to sleep by dropping sand on their eyes. There was a popular children's TV show about the Sandman in Germany. But Rammstein dug into a darker, less popular version of the story. The original Rammstein song is from 2001, but I've been impressed with this piano version, ever since I discovered it on TH-cam reaction channels.

    Did you notice it? At the very end as the lights are fading the white smoke? I believe the white smoke/mist you see in the very end as the lights slowly go off was his spirit/Soul.
    I think that he was finally able to ascend...after making sure all the children were safe and at the same time atoning for his past sins he was finally set free.
    The original was released in 2001 then the piano version in 2012 so it follows the story from Till in the orphanage to protecting the kids and the emotions he shows is mainly anger followed by sadness then in the piano version his emotions are kinda bitter sweet? He realizes he had to do things he didn't want to do to save the children. So now that he's done, he is finally set free. thats of course my own interpretation of the video/song❤️‍🔥🤗

    Have ripped it out of my chest
    I have the power with this heart
    to blackmail the eyelids
    I sing until the new day comes
    a bright glow in the sky
    My heart burns
    They come to you in the night
    Demons ghosts black fairies
    they crawl out of the cellar shaft
    and will look under your blankets
    Now, dear children, pay attention
    I am the voice from the pillow
    I brought you something

    My heart burns

    and squeeze my cold veins

    I sing until the new day comes

      “Erpressen” , not “to blackmail” but “to close”!

    • @alanekucher7369
      @alanekucher7369 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@huisjebudde can you provide a link showing that "erpressen" means "to close" and not "to blackmail"?
      I'm aware that German words can have multiple meanings...that one word can mean different things depending on where it's located in a sentence or if a prefix is added to it etc.
      So I have searched and the main translation is "to blackmail " "to extort" and "to press"
      The word "Erpressen" does not mean "to close".."to blackmail the eyelids" is the literal translation here..but it's being used here as "to force" the eyelids to stay shut or closed

    • @huisjebudde
      @huisjebudde 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@alanekucher7369 I’m not German but a Dutchy (from the Netherlands). If I translate “blackmail” into Dutch it means for us “chanteren” and makes the meaning of the sentence to the Dutch weird. So I looked for a word that was more familiar for me, “to close” as a result of “to press”. So for me the sentence with “to press” I can understand, with “to blackmail” I do not understand as a Dutchy.

    • @alanekucher7369
      @alanekucher7369 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@huisjebudde ah that makes sense...I believe that Till used the word erpressen because to say "to close " in German is "zu schließen " and I don't think that "Die Augenlider zu schließen " would have sounded good or rymed with the rest of the lyrics...😅 ❤

    To understand the lyrics and their meaning, pay attention to the lyrics, pay attention to the location, both in the piano as well the official "normal" version. Furthermore, consider the history of the place, and then put it all into context and it becomes immediately clear how profound this song really is.
    The text is easy to find out and translate. But the pivotal point is the filming location. The Beelitzer Heilstätten (Sanatorium), close to Berlin, was once a medical institute for people with lung diseases, but later became a mental institution where people were brutally mistreated for research purposes and used as guinea pigs. These patients were treated with the most questionable methods, including experiments involving the use of electronic pulses. Especially in children and young people. Many innocent people died in this ominous place. The place was abandoned after a major fire and has been abandoned ever since.
