Incredible that Cyndi Laupers unique and beautiful house sold for $825,000 and you can barely find a "cookie cutter" 3 bedroom house that is a fixer upper for less than a mil in California! The person who got that house with all the Italian upgrades and gorgeous views got the deal of the century!
That's a pretty normal price outside of cali. Here in rural Tennessee where I live, hour from nashville,, her house would sale for probably 650k or cheaper. My cousin moved from here to LA and the amount she pays for anything out there is outrageous compared to the other states. Nashville is starting to get extremely expensive too tho. There's alot of people moving there from outta state chasing dreams and it's crazy how much house prices have went up the last 10 years there. Hell my brother bought a house there 5 years ago for 400k and sold it fir 650k. Just a regular ol 3 bed 2 bath house. Nothing fancy about it at all. Bout a new house for 600k in Nashville that's basically identical to my dad's house here in our small town that dad only gave 250k, if that says anything lol
They got a steal! Wow! I wish i would have bought it for a summer house in Connecticut- and rented it out the remaider of the year.. although i would like to spend a christmas and Thanksgiving in NewEngland. Maybe someday- i want to experience other places in America- culturally speaking. I was born on a Dairy Farm - near Torrance/Carson Boarder. My family had one Dairy on Figueroa & 223rd. And, the other big farm was on Torrance Blvd- across from thr In&out.
Housing prices are so stupid in so many places. You have to pay $385K for a normal, uglyaf 1990s 3/2 in a safe place in Tallahassee now. Those homes are NOT worth more than $150K, I promise you. And Leon County has a high mileage rate and no culture, no good restaurants, and no high-earning industry. Unreal. And now you know why I left.
That was before the Pandemic....houses have gone up dramatically since then. But yeah, Cali is crazy expensive....because its warm all year and nxt to Ocean unlike Tennessee and other places that are cheaper. Also Connecticut is not the closest to NYC...and not as much going on there. So hence cheaper prices. And its not warm all year around.
I love Cindy’s former house, after 30 years I would have just kept it and just stayed in a hotel when visiting NYC. Renting is never a good thing. Why pay someone else’s mortgage when you can buy your home and build your own equity. That’s what I did 19 years ago and it was the best financial decision I ever made.❤️
Cyndi's been a New Yorker all her life. Born in a Brooklyn hospital, brought up in Queens. Even when she had the house in Connecticut, she was also living in that rent-controlled apartment in New York.
Cyndi was poor when she was young - very little money and lived in Queens NY . She worked at the Roosevelt Field Mall (in a shoe store) on Long Island and at the McCrory's (which was like Woolworths) in Rego Park , Queens. Just name dropping for any NYC/ Queens / Long Island people reading this . P.S. When she worked at McCrory's - she furnished her first apartment with stuff she bought from there ! LOL. 1980.
I love Cyndi. Its wonderful to see the home she's lived in for so long, its my dreamhome. This whole story is mindblowing though. I cant believe I pay higher rent for my kid's single room in a shared apartment in a dead end town, than my idol does for her high end multi bedroom apartment downtown NYC. I'm happy she is giving back by doing so much for the homeless youth through her True Colors Projects...

Someone got the bargain of the century when they purchased Cindi’s house. I would have paid more for this amazing home. I’m moving back to the US from the UK where house prices are monumentally high. Something like this would have sold for $ millions and then some. A decent RV costs more! I’d love to know her Realator as they were in my opinion, not acting in her best interests.
As crisis keep rising, one needs to have different streams of income, a well detailed diversified investment portfolio in the financial markets is needed to survive,as well as secure a profitable investment future

I feel bad for the family that owns that NYC building.. what a Racket! Rent Control like that is horrible. Its so unfair... Cyndi can afford more- low prices should be allocated to those who are poor or who dont make a lot. But- to willynilly assign such a low rental anount to anyone without a complete review of all their financials is Horrid and Appauling. My Grandparents own a small “bread&butter” set of apartments in SantaMonica. My grandpa never gauged or overcharged people - he was a blue colar working man/my Nana sewed clothes.. during WWIi, Korean & Vietnam Wars- she sewed and made Parachuetes for USA! But: my grandparents never charged a lot of rent for their rentals. So- in the 1970s when Rent Control hit Santa Monica- they got locked-in and even rolled back a bit... it was so unfair. Here: people would come to rent, like professors at UCLA and other whitecollar peofessionals- that made a shit load in their pay... but: rent control set them at $400-$500 for a 2bedroom in Santa Monica. New Buildings were not subjext to the same criteria as the pre-existing units. So- my Nana- began renting to Nuns and otjers that had low income but actually did some type of public service. Anyway- one cousin from New York- cane to LA to attend Law school. my grandma rented Joey a 2bed for $599 in the 1990s. He talked to much crap- he became a big time LA lawyer. But: he wouldnt spend a nickle to imorive anything on his own- but he sure complained- such a slap in the face. He was making $280,000 a year at one Firm- KatzenMunchinZ... but: didnt move to a ritzy titzy building- no he wanted his olay money to splash cash around- meanwhile trashtalking my Grandma. stereotypical ungrateful. He couldnt get a loan to buy a condo- so my nice family helped him w his condo ourchase. He found out how expensive it is to own- with upkeep, HOA Dues, insurmce TAx and Payments on Principle and Interest. Soon- he was oaying $4,000 a month in fhe 1990s for a small crapH’le Condo in WeHo. He talked loads of homophobic crap - but moved near the bathhouse off of Melrose- ahahahahhahaa anyway- we sold the building when my Nana died/ the new owners got the rents up- so now rhe rule is market rate is fair, gets locked in at new Rental Rate- and can only be raised 3-5% per annum. The new owner raises the rent in accord w fhe rules. No more Mrs Nicegal! Hahahaha

Love the Connecticut mansion. Well I agree with her initial lawsuit I think the amount she's paying now for rent is ridiculously unfair to the owner. Some celebrities the more they have the more greedy they become.
Indeed Both the walls and floors were really dirty, and the materials were beyond dated and tacky. That's why it sold for so little. And if it looked filthy in the photos that can be enhanced and photoshopped, can you imagine live?! The place needs all kinds of work. That to me would be a fixer upper.
Why she would sell the mansion is understandable but for her and her family to live in an apartment and rent it is what baffles me!! She could buy a smaller home. I am sure she had the money regardless if her mansion was sold at only 800k .
I’m literally trying to get my kid to get some songs with her son. It might take some time. Though yeah my kid knows. I’m trying to break the internet.
Only $2500 per month for a palatial apartment like the one Cyndi is now renting for $988 per month? In New York, no less? I live in Ontario, Canada, and in my city there are one-bedroom apartments that are a fraction of the size going for that kind of money. And they aren't even luxury apartments! I'm also shocked at how little her former house sold for. Where I live, a property like that would go for $1.5 to 2 million dollars (if not more), no questions asked.
