I believe Roger Federer to be the goat mainly because stats aren't everything, his grace on and off the court is unmatched, at his peak, he was practically unstoppable, and he has a satisfying style of play. His strokes are graceful and elegant while also being deadly. Compared to his other rivals Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are baseline grinders who get the job done, but when you think of tennis who comes to mind first? For me, it will always be Roger.

@@asu4817 OK if you want to go off that angle then fine. I am not going to argue which one brings more or less to younger players, because I don't know. But based on my assessment, certain players in history bring a little something extra besides winning lots of matches. Among these are Borg, McEnroe, Sampras, and Federer. Neither of these players would beat their peers in stats, but there's a certain intangible quality. Borg was like a rock star back in his days. McEnroe brought a game that was pretty strange, but he won a lot with it, and an attitude that is quite unique. It's irreverent for sure but not vulgar like Jimmy Connors or nasty like Nastasie. Sampras brought serve and volley game in tennis to a new level and looked so relax as he delivered one bomb after another. And then there's Federer, a player who can hit so many different shots and win the point. Many of these shots seem so improbable that even top tier competitors had to shake their head in disbelief.

All of us in this modern world, are always looking for a champion because we want to believe and agree that we can be champions as well. Roger Federer is going to be remembered for his all around game and his formal professional image. Federer has made so many tremendous shots, returns and he has suffered a lot, and who hasn't; but, in tennis, to suffer and still dominate is a champion's fire, a champion's torch. Roger is 5 years older than both Rafa and Novak. Back when players were retiring in their early 30s, 5 years is equivalent to a generation. When it's all said and done, I believe Novak will hold all the "relevant" stats the people will typically use to measure greatness (GS titles, # of Masters 1000 titles, Weeks at #1, H2H records, etc.). That will definitely build towards the greatness of Novak Djokovic no question. However, we also have to recognize how the game has evolved. Today, the game is so much faster that fitness plays a much bigger factor than ever. The two players that made fitness a big factor are Lendl and Navratilova. It transformed the game where the players were forced to train in order to be successful; talent alone isn't enough anymore. Case in point - Nick Kyrgios. Before this year Nick's body just couldn't handle the rigors of tour life and eventually all his talent was sidelined due to injury or recovery. He's started training this year and you can see the difference. And that's sort of where I stand with Roger Federer. He possesses both the raw talent and the discipline of fitness training to maximize his tennis potential. It's plain to the casual observer how talented Roger actually is because his fitness level is able to support the rigors of the evolving sport. He makes the impossible shots look easy and the improvised look planned. And that's where Roger's greatness exists.

Regarding the head to head between Federer and Nadal: Nadal often didn't go that deep in hard and grass court tournaments. If he had he would have faced Federer many more times in said tournaments. However Federer did make it to a lot of clay court finals where he faced who else. If Nadal had gone deeper in the hard and grass court tournaments I believe the H2H would have been a lot different. Nadal never won a Masters title or Miami which is a big hole in his record. Let's face it, Nadal is the greatest clay court player ever. Yet he still won 8 Grand Slams on hard and grass courts which is better than most and certainly nothing to scoff at.

I think Roger is the GOAT, but I think Nadal is just a step behind, and with Novak a step behind him. Roger may not have the most Grand Slams, but he changed tennis so much, and made every other tennis player work so much harder to keep up with him.
Roger played the game with so much grace. Nadal is a monster on the court, and Novak reminds me of Agassi, who was a real work horse on the court.
These 3 players are so good, that the title The GOAT could go to anyone of them, at different points of their career. You could say, they are the 3 GOAT of Tennis. It's amazing to have 3 players in one sport, that are so evenly matched in their success in a sport. It's just unreal, because they destroy everyone else.

Even though Rafa is my favorite tennis player ever, it would be almost rude to say that Roger isn’t the GOAT of tennis. He has done so much for our generation and generations to come. Not only has the achievements and matches he has won boosted himself as a player, but he is also a super nice and generous guy. Like they said, it’s hard not to like him! The GOAT argument is half-setteled ! It's between Nole and Nadal... It sure ain't Roger, not anymore. Numbers count most, not opinions of so many adult fan-girls who keep moving the goal-post to suit their crush! Sure Roger's artistic movement looks great but if that's the thing you most enjoy then please go watch some ballet. There is so much more to tennis. As a player Roger is not the GOAT, but he can be the face or icon of tennis as he brought so much attention, interest and new fans to tennis. Don't mix these two things up.

@@TennisTalkOfficial well obviously if you took rod laver from that era and put him against today's players, the difference is huge. all you can do is compare a player to the era they played in. otherwise players like mcenroe, edberg wouldn't be considered even in the top 50 since courts these days don't let serve and volley be your main game. on the same token, you put djokovic and rafa in the 60s, and they wouldn't be able to hit a forehand. they'd shank 95/100 since the racquets then don't let them hit like this.

Nadal does hold more wins over Federer. However that being said 16 of their 40 matches were played on clay and Rafa won 14 of them. Federer has won the majority of their grass and hard court matches. If they had played each other as many times on grass that they have on clay, no doubt roger would have more wins.

Or, at least, know how to pronounce the world's most prestigious tournament? (It's Wimble-Don - not Wimble-Ton!) Small points, maybe, but it does rather detract from the authority of the video when it's clear the dude fronting things knows diddly-squat about the game.

I think he is greatest popular player ...but not the Greatest of all time. Right now Djokovic is the greatest even with one less slam than Nadal....the buttom line is that the numbers dont lie and popularity do matter...The numbers H2H ...and fitness and playing tougher opponents...gives Djokovic the edge over both Nadal and Federer.

When you make video about YOUR favourite tennis player you must consider some facts. NOT emotionally fueled rubbish.
Federer is not even no 2.
Djokovic is by far the GOAT in tennis and has been for years. Look up his stats, count. It's not even a debate. How conveniently people forget weeks as ATP no1, which prove consistency and real level of work? 373 weeks as the World No1!! That's 1 year & 11 weeks clear of Federer!! That's 3 years & 8 weeks clear of Nadal!! Big titles recorder by far. Masters titles recorder. Only Golden masters title holder. All 4 Grand slams titles holder at the same time. 7 times Year end No1 and recorder. 21 Grand slams titles holder and runner up. ATP finals 5 times title holder and runner up. ATP points recorder by 16975. So in all key indicators only Nadal outnumbers him by 1 on Grand slams and Olympics medals and Federer by 1 on ATP finals. Too few to be enough for any of them to be objectively considered GOAT. Before Djokovic outnumbered Federer on the Weeks being No1 as the most comprehensive indicator, I considered that Federer is GOAT but now it is very obvious that Novak is by far ahead. We can add that Djokovic is better in head 2 head from both of them as well, but that is less important than titles and key records of absolute value.

You will find in Brazil thousands of football player with more football finesse than Messi and C.Ronaldo.
Are they in your view better? ,,HE IS GOAT NOT BY RECORDS BUT CLASS ABOVE ALL''? Class for what?
At Laver Cup he had more sponsors than Rod Laver. When sponsors stop talking, numbers will start.
He is not even the second best.FACT. In your emotional lalaland he is the GOAT.
