I guess I'm a purist. I prefer the mysteries that take place across the pond in England. This reminded me of the Phillip Marlowe and other radio mysteries of the 40's and 50's. Worth a listen though.
I love the original stories best, but these are a creative âwhat ifâ. (As an aside, Janeâs unholy-description of the Mona Lisa as âa glorified postage-stampâ tickled My funny-bone!)ðð
Very cleverly written. Iâve read several takes on Agathaâs Miss Marple. This was one of the better ones. Excellent narration. Thank you loved it. 1:06:37
Now that Agatha Christie's works are entering the public domain, writers are allowed to incorporate the characters into new stories. This isn't an imitation of Christie. It's a What If game. What if dear Miss Marple went to New York? Would she still triumph in this very alien environment? Of course! I enjoyed it!
Audiobooks help me pass the time & I would like to thank the person posting this. Not much like the Miss Marple by Christie, but I do appreciate this effort.
I don't know why this book is parading as an Agatha Christie novel. It was written by Alyssa Cole. It doesn't look or sound like Christie - or Miss Marple.
Miss Marple's wondrous, intellegent, and humble, reality oriented personality was not found in this story. A tale that was not in any way written in a style similar to Agatha Christie's.
I feel certain that if I say what I ACTUALLY feel about this story and the portrayal of the characters, someone will express judgement that itâs free, and if I donât like it I shouldnât listen. Well first of all, just because itâs free doesnât mean people shouldnât express honest opinions and give honest feedback. Secondly I really love Agatha Christie and Miss Marple, and I really WANTED this to be good. But the only thing worse than the story itself, is the readers absolutely horrific American accentsð
Guess you don't know what the REAL Agatha Christie was like. Maybe you should read them and then you'll know why Ms. Cole should create her own characters. Either way it's stealing, free or not free.
Why not open your mind to a story about Mrs marble visit to the USA and enjoy the story ! It was the narrator I had a problem with .sorry but that was some really bad voices.
@@2msvalkyrie529 ironic you would call it drivel and put Christie so high on a pedestal when a lot of her work was racist and sexist and she copied plot twists multiple times in different stories and then put them out like they were new lol. Be so fucking forreal. The estate has the right to choose to release new licensed stories. If you donât like them, donât read them. Once you acknowledge Christie was a human and was in no way perfect herself, life will be a lot easier to swallow, simple child.
@@2msvalkyrie529 ironic you and all the people agreeing with you only know the word âdrivel.â Maybe use a thesaurus or something lol. What a poser lol
Thanks for offering the story, but the story lacks AC authenticity. The title page is misleading, implying the story is by AC, which leaves us feeling frustrated. Naration good.
This is dreadful - the character of Miss Marple is reduced to a that of an inconsistent and rather dim woman. The dialogue has nothing to do with the originals. Even the plot has little to do with the complexities of a Christie novel. Itâs just stealing names in order to get an audience for a pretty poor story
This is sooooo not ok. Agatha would NEVER have allowed this to be published in her name. Who approved this? Limp carrot? 44:04 I may not be as prudish as Miss Marple but I certainly am embarrassed to have this playing aloud in my kitchen! Canât take another minute. Shame on whoever is trying to make money off the memory of my favorite author with this cheap sordid trash!
At the beginning it promised well, but it soon broke down. The author is more successful at capturing the way actors bicker than the way Miss Marple speaks.
No one can replace Agatha Christie, and no one should try. Shame on the family of the greatest mystery writer who ever lived. Don't you have enough money from your royalties already? And Alyssa Cole: why don't you just develop your own characters and leave Agatha Christie lovers to remember her fondly and without cringing?

â@@patriciahoughton3547Yes. People don't seem to realise that these authors were selected by the Christie company to create these new short stories of Miss Marple. Of course they are not Agatha Christie but they are fun and clever.
@@juliashearer7842 I disliked the one where they talked about something like âI must go see Claireâ (or whatever the name was. I want Miss Marple!!!! This is counterfeit
I am enjoying this. Thank you!
Great escape from all the current problems on my mind! Thank you.
I love Ms Marple's take on aging and the British viewpoint of New York...
Comfy.....different but familiar...

Love the Reader's voice.

I enjoyed this very much! Especially like the kitty rumbly purrs!

I liked it. Wonderful narrative, so well read. Greetings from Timor-Leste. Work for equality and non-violenve. Thank you for posting.
Absolutely greatâĪ I'll be looking for more.
Interesting story read by a good voice actress.

Agatha christie just entering the public domain?ð She's been 'entering the public domain' since the 1920s!!
You can use the characters, but you can not lie and say it was written by Christie. Immoral click bait.

So unlike Agatha Christieâs style of writing it wasnât for me.
This is a new one! I'm loving it in New York City.
The accents of the American characters sound like cartoons to me. But I still listened to most of it. ð
ðŽð§ I enjoyed it. I expect that it was ' ok'd ' by the Agatha Christie estate.
IMO
Still enjoyable
Loved itð

Couldn't be less like Miss Marple, has the author read any Agatha Christie? Really bad!
Leave Agatha Christie alone ðŪ
It's the Christie Estate !! They plan to squeeze every penny they can
from a gullible public ! Their greed knows no bounds. Grotesque !!
The Dark Side of both Miss Marple and Raymond West. That is no kind of loving relationship I ever want to be involved in. High in snark.
Oh dear
I dislike intensely others using Agatha's name and characters as their own. To me it's bad form.
Why not open your mind to a story about Mrs marble visit to the USA and enjoy the story ! It was the narrator I had a problem with .sorry but that was some really bad voices.
No.agathachr
Write what you want. Just don't ride on that name. AC had insight and class. I can't believe the family authorized this.
How is this legal?
Agatha Christieâs estate officially authorized 12 stories by other authors. It is a licensed Agatha Christie story.
Indeed ! Complete drivel ! But , at least , it's " licensed " drivel !
That makes it SO much better...

The opposite of AC. Awful.
Well, technically it isnât, the initials of the author are AC, soâĶâĶ.. and awful is a very subjective judgement.

Don't really need the comments about Miss Marple being close to death. Christie never wrote in this fashion.

If you can't do accents, don't do accents. Enjoyed the story but it ain't Christie.
This is NOT Agatha Christie and NOT Miss Marple!
Why if the story takes place in New York City.
FYI: NOT written by Agatha Christie.
Click bait. Yawn. Boring. Hardly Christie quality

Dracula and Frankenstein, too. When copyrights expire, new artists are able to build on the works of previous artists, usually in tribute.
There was a book of (I think 12) stories by various authors writing in what was said to be the style of Agatha Christie.
