Not by Agatha Christie! The cover description of the novel as an Agatha Christie is misleading.
They should not mention Agatha Christie if she is not the author.
Not expecting vintage Miss Christie, I was pleasantly entertained.
Brilliant. Thank you so much for bringing this 'new' Miss Marple to us. Delighted that Agatha Christie's family gave the go-ahead to allow those stories to be gifted to all. Such a talented writer to bring Ms Christie's alive with magic !
No-one had the right to “authorise” someone, anyone, to use her name. How dare they. Parasites. And inferior writing.
I hope the rest of this series is available. I'll certainly search after this story ❤
So excited to find a new Agatha Christie story! So disappointing to find that it is not really Agatha at all. Please mark these fakes so that we won't waste our time even clicking on these monstrosities. I would subscribe if you would do that.
I'd never heard this before and really enjoyed it especially the kitty watching the bird video at the end.
I've enjoyed this story I've listened to it before.
I had to laugh after reading the comments if people don't like the story why listen? You don't need to pass nasty comments just don't listen 🤷♀️
Thank you for putting it out for use to listen to
I think one of the problems is that the click bait tells you you're going to be hearing an Agatha Christie story you've never heard before, and then you find out it's not Agatha Christie. That's just plain dishonest. The story should stand on its own as one to listen to.
If you are a Christie fan you should know her stories.
Enjoy the story or move on 🤷♀️
Glad you enjoyed it
@@patriciaitaliait IS officially Agatha Christie. The estate licensed and commissioned 12 new stories written by 12 different authors. It’s not dishonest or clickbait. It is an officially licensed story by the Agatha Christie estate. If you want to be mad at someone be mad at the estate for their decision to license a collection of new Marple stories, not at the person posting the audio.
@@KittyxKultliscenced by the estate is not the same as "written by".
Not a bad story, rather enjoyed it, but it should carry the name of the actual writer, the phrase "base upon the characters created by", and then they can put on that they had been approved. It was NOT written by Agatha Christie, and suggesting so is deceptive.
I agree. Too many knock off vintage stories around. 😢
So enjoyable. Thank you. Fr Malaysia 🇲🇾
*Read by Alex Kingston*
*[Add Story is written by Lucy Foley, it's in a collection of 12 stories by 12 different writers, using the Agatha Christie characters etcetera.]*
*Was looking for a reading by Joan Hickson who plays Miss Marple, and this came up. All the actors reading are great!*
So far, that's Juliet Stevenson, Joan Hickson, Alex Kingston. Great variations of tone, volume, accent, humour, timing, and intonation in each of their readings.

I loved the story thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Evil in Small Places by Lucy Foley is the first short story in the collection Marple: Twelve New Stories,The audiobook is narrated by Alex Kingston.
But why should Lucy Foley ride on the coattails of Agatha Christie???
@@user-bs4jn6444 I don’t think Lucy Foley was attempting to ride on coattails. She, as an author in her own right, was invited to write a story featuring Miss Marple in a collection of 12 Miss Marple stories, each by a different author. Delightful idea I thought. In my opinion Ms Foley captured perfectly the pettiness so often portrayed by Agatha Christie. (The collection was approved and announced so not a surprise to any Christie family representative.)
@kayeroskaft9619 I understand that but don't get why there is any need for it.!! Agatha wrote so many wonderful stories that we enjoy..To call it Marple : 12 new stories is simply ripping off a wonderful character and use her name. I thought this dragged out too much but would like to read Lucy's own penmanship rather than copying a legend.
I’m glad I checked out the comments before I got too far into the reading. I thought this was an Agatha Christie story. I feel lied to and cheated.
I thought that was Alex❤
I enjoyed the story.
Have to admit, I was taken aback by the video heading. To me, using "Agatha Christie" implies that she was the author. Maybe "Agatha Christie's Miss Marple" would be clearer.
The usual way is to say that it was "based on the characters created by" .
Very enjoyable! Great descriptive writing and well read. Thank you ☺️
Love these short stories. I think this one is from Twelve New Stories collection. Love Miss Marple's character. Thanks for this gem 💎
Love these. I don’t know why people want to be so mean. If you don’t like it, don’t listen. I have missed Miss Marple. Thanks for this. I don’t see anywhere where this author is trying to say she is Agatha Christie.
Using the same exact character of Miss Marple is one way of impersonating Agatha Christie. How about the description that says “Agatha Christie Audiobook Mystery” when in fact it isn’t .😮
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You just expressed yours. Don’t you agree that others may do so just as you have done?
In these United States of America we have something called “freedom of speech” so that we can freely voice our opinions about things like 👉🏻 inauthentic audiobooks misleading readers 👈🏻 for instance.
I don’t believe this commenter was being “mean.” Only expressing their view of irritation because this story is not an authentic Agatha Christie Audiobook. 😊
Deb, we all know Agatha Christie has been dead for years.
@@katiehettinger7857 ??
Thought this story had very little body to it. Not lie the real Agatha Christie
🤷♀️ Lucy Foley wrote this, NOT Agatha Christie. Why are they using Christie's name? Is there an arrangement with her estate?
🧏♀️ I don't feel good about this trickery.
In the time it took you to write this comment you have searched and found the answer to your comment
Love this narrator. Excellent work. Sounds like Juliet Stevenson.
If Renoir's estate authorized new paintings by "Renoir" and sold them with the fine print "a la Renoir and estate sanctioned," that would be seen as fraudulent, misleading, wrong, estate or no estate. Agatha Christie, however, no prob.
Enjoyed it very much🎉
Well_ having read the comments,I'm gonna give it a go & hope to be pleasantly surprised 🤓
I feel you have to say indicate in the title that it's not Ms Marple but Agatha Christie. If it said 'inspired by' in the title or written boldly across the pic, I might have listened. I am very happy for new adventures for her. But as it is, this isnt what the title says.
.
? It is a Miss Marple story though.
@@dmann1115Using someone else's character in a book, Play, radio show is not the same as what the original.
I rather enjoyed this, but it was not an Agatha Christie story, and should not be' advertised as such.
To those upset because this story is not written by Agatha Christie, please at least do a quick Google search. This story is one of a volume of twelve new stories written as an homage to Agatha Christie similar to the new Sherlock Holmes stories recently appearing as the copyrights expire. It's not exactly fan fiction since the "fans" are well known writers. Personally I'm not happy about that either since the voice is definitely different.
geat
I enjoyed this, glad Im not a purist, lol
❤
I guess these are the authorised short stories authorised by the Christie people a couple of years ago? I will come back and listen as i enjoyed the book. Thank you.
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
I liked this story.
This is a form of theft. It is not by Agatha Christie, it is the estate of Christie and this writer trading off Christie’s fame. The fact that the estate ‘authorised’ it does not make it any less an abuse.
😂
Lol!! Since when was the Sussex accent - as we're told Inspector Idle apparently has - a mixture of west country and east Anglia??
Total lack of integrity when this has nothing to do with Agatha Chritie. Shameful disgrace.
This is one of the weaker stories in this collection but others are good, especially Kate Mosse’s excellent story
Good story 👏
Glad you liked it!
Excellent. I think Ms Christie would have approved!
Hmm...her descendants certainly approve ! More money for them !!
They can milk it for another 20 years at least...without having written a line themselves !
Not bad, but no Christie. The plot was good, but over explained. Miss M should not be leading the police by the nose; nor would she put herself in obvious danger without a back-up plan.
Rather call it what it is! Please. Misleading intro doesn’t set a good impression.
Please research and reply with the actual facts as afew of us enjoy these stories 😊
@alisonlaing7046
Am not sure what information is misleading. The story is by Agatha Christie. It may or may not be part of a collection, is that the suggestion? That there's wrong publication information. Thanks in advance
PS I googled it again, and found the answer this time: story is part of a collection:
*"This collection of twelve original short stories, all featuring Jane Marple, will introduce the character to a whole new generation. Each author reimagines Agatha Christie’s Marple through their own unique perspective while staying true to the hallmarks of a traditional mystery."*
Who is the narrator?
If you aren't enjoying these new stories, you can continue to reread the originals. They remind me of the less popular works of the vaunted Ms. Chistie. 😉👍
It should be forbidden and prosecuted.
You want the estate to prosecute itself?
i’m just
Yuk
I do not endorse faux Christie. I decided to listen to one of the faux Marple stories. Terrible.
We'll let the Christie estate know!!
That estate is simply cashing in on the name.
By Lucy Foley or Agatha Christie? Sounds like a stupid clickbait tactic. I'm not sticking around to find out.
Me neither.
Bye, shut up

@@mwatts-riley2688 I disagree. It claims to be by Agatha Christie; it is not. Donblosser has a valid complaint.
It is an officially licensed short story from the Christie estate, not a clickbait tactic. They chose 12 bestselling modern mystery authors to write a Miss Marple story. That is why it still has Agatha Christie’s name on it, it’s her character. It says (by Lucy Foley) in the description and explains where the short story is collected.
@@QHarefieldCurrently, adolescents don't seem to care about deceptive advertising .
And...embarrassing ti state, but they usually haven't mastered much of basic 3rd or 4th grade english, and cannot discriminate between a mildly amusing story, and great storytelling.
People complaining about this “not being Agatha Christie” if you read the thumbnail it clearly shows this is a story from Marple, which is a collection of 12 bestselling mystery authors’ takes on Miss Marple mysteries. The Agatha Christie estate officially licensed these stories. It’s fine if you don’t like the story but stop saying things like “clickbait” and “false advertising” because it is in the thumbnail and the description that this is Lucy Foley’s AUTHORIZED take on Miss Marple. If you are mad about that, be mad at the estate.
All this means is that the estate of Mrs Christie is complicit in trading off her name. It is still an abuse to use her name to trade off her success.
@@katehobbs2008 the woman was a racist, sexist, and classist. She was not perfect herself by any means. When you read her stories back to back you see how often she used the same plot twist in multiple stories and released them as if they were “completely new and original.” Stop putting artists on a pedestal. Her family can do what they want with her estate. Nobody is gonna judge you for what you do with your parents’ estate.
@@katehobbs2008so you're accusing them of abusing themselves??!!
It's a con. Bait & switch.
License for profit.
The thumbnail = fine print.
@@saintexupery8406 how is it bait and switch?? yall know Agatha Christie has been dead for decades right? What kind of moron think she came out with an all new book? The thumbnail literally has the authors on it. It’s not fine print it’s literally a giant box while you’re scrolling through TH-cam and if you have vision problems you can change settings to make the thumbnail larger. It’s your fault for not paying attention.
It’s an insult to Dame Agatha for these middling mystery authors to call their books and stories Agatha Christie mysteries. This story rambles on and on for 20 min before any action happens until then it’s insipid village gossip. Late start, boring story.
What does YOUR RENDITION read like? To keep the story line going, and one that's authorized by Christie asst,
What does your book sound like?
Oh, wait ...
Uhh....
Not a good idea. I kept listening for Christie's voice and didn't hear it. Not fair to this writer.
Amen! Horrible.
You do know these authors have not taken it upon themselves to call themselves Agatha Christie don't you? Perhaps look into the story of these stories.
The authors didn’t call themselves anything. Agatha Christie’s estate officially licensed and commissioned these bestselling mystery authors to write their twists on a Marple mystery and it is fully detailed in the description so it’s your fault if you didn’t read the description and don’t know all of Agatha’s works to know this is not one of her classics. If you want to blame someone blame the estate.
Reader can’t pronounce ‘misses’. I’m concerned.
Not Agatha Christie
Don’t bother.
Not Agatha Christie. Lie!!
Thumbs down and report as misleading.
Agatha Christie would never include blasphemy. Very disappointing.
This is fake and misleading! Not Written by Agatha Christie! Dislike and report!
Agatha Christie my arse. If you have a good book why steal the famous name?
Nobody stole the name. Agatha Christie’s estate officially licensed 12 new Marple stories by 12 different authors. If you want to blame someone, blame the estate for the author they chose to represent them.
Greed. Why work if you can legally sell a famous name?
@@wordsculpt I mean they were all published bestselling authors prior to being commissioned by the estate soooo
Dull. I can't listen anymore. 👎
Too terrible. Definitely NOT an authentic Agatha Christie.
