You pay then and they say yes or no. Mostly no. Wheels suspension exhaust are around 1000bucks usd. On engine you can only change parts that doesent effect wmissions or power. So u are really fucked here as a petrol head.. we tune anywqy, but you can keep a ton of money aside for fees. And olso can happen that your car will never see open roads again
Love OEM+ builds. I think the turbo technology is there to get high hp + response out of low mounts. Just unfortunate there isnt many bolt-on options... yet.. Pair of G28s on a 2.8 vcam could get close to 1000whp, but it wont be a bolt on setup.
Not an rb but I run a bottom mount 80mm on my m52b28. Made 1000whp with that setup back in 07. Definitely not as fast as those gtrs though. Best I ever did at the strip was 9.9 @ 160

But youre right there's been so many advancements in the past 15-20 years that the car could use. Id really like to get it on a modern engine management. Its currently running an electromotive tec3 stand alone. And we had to fly in a tuner from Canada for it. He had tuned Andy frosts car which was the world's fastest street car at the time. Even the engine is outdated since its running 8 to 1 compression. Only thing engine wise i feel confident about is the head work. And even then I'm sure there's better cams available.
i would love to see a more detailed technical look at this engine wise. Some more info on the turbo reworking, more on the Tomei elbow reworking and where the limit is on the airbox and how does it compare to the carbon HKS airbox (and maybe why he didn't use that one? )
Its a HKS 2.8 prob a Step 2 or 3 - it and the airbox, wheels and brakes came with the car he didnt buy it aftermatket, it was done in Japan, he would have bought as its a near perfect example. It has one of their top shelf heads Tomei's gutted with hydrid GT25-660's is my guess The hks carbon airbox is for HKS headers, its 20k+ the new heritage airbox is over 24k for vertical turbos - for that price off RHDjapan you can get an OS88+ Jun EX 2.8 stroker kit with 78mm stroke Cosworth pistons, i-beam rods for that price. +$1000 What would you buy a brand new OS88 and JUN Stroker 2.8 EX or a fancy pod filter??

cheapest i saw was in 2012 a white 1999 r34 with broken gearbox and jb weld crack on the engine for $39,000 in Melbourne The guy that bought it also bought the os88 and OSG RB315 that were sitting on SAU for sale for what seemed like a decade, got both for very cheap too. That to me is the best deal ive ever seen in Aus a R34 with a brand new os88 + OSG RB315 for under 75k. Im sure Japan could top that
If you want to stay at 2.6l then a Twin Turbo tune is just a downgrade. The only turbos that are good for 2.6l are the N1 Turbos. Everything bigger is just pure lag. You need Rb30 for twin turbo tuning, responsive and good power. Single turbo is the way to go for 2.6 or 2.8. I made the "mistake" I actually tried something, that I putted g25 550 on my build 2.6 and the lag is real 😅 but the power is very good.
blanket statements like this are just ignorant - I run GT2860R-5's on 2.6L well prepped head / cam and induction & exhaust system, makes 550+HP and is not laggy at all.

I suppose without a big single you get hasseled a lot less or have the cops chilled out? - whats the deal anyone know? Are you allowed to run big singles as long as the exhaust is within legal db levels? dont they have some stupid sh1te about closed off airboxes/ defect for carbon bonnets etc?? In Melbourne years ago they tried to defect you with 3 or more mods or something ret@rded like that, prob making it up on the spot.

Engine management and fuelling systems have also come a very long way since then. It’s now far easier to reliably extract more power from these engines than it has ever been in the past.

It's all the modern shit with the concept of a car from 2001. And e85. Kind of like a mines r34 but with almost twice the hp.
Mines skyline was built to run 800hp according to the old vids, though it was set at 600/650 mostly.
