- Hows it going guys ive been playing Joker in Super Smash Bros Ultimate almost non stop but wanted to take a tiny break to talk about all the cool Easter eggs and references Nintendo put into this DLC fighter's moveset in Super Smash Bros Ultimate!

I find it fascinating that no one seem to have connected that Jokers “Rebels Guard” as a reference to not only to the Guard mechanic of the Persona Games, but also references an accessory found in Persona 3, 5, and maybe 4 (never played 4 but it should be there).
The accessory is the “Divine Pillar” which halves all incoming damage, just like “Rebel’s Guard”, AND and in Smash using it keeps you from moving, while in Persona 5 it removes the users ability to evade any attack.

@@landonschumacher6771 the 'panda monster thing' is named Teddie- basically the bear pun generator that almost everybody hates- I forgot which game he's from.. mostly 'cuz I hate him
Fun obscure fact about Eiha (that I'm actually a little surprised you didn't pick up on, Johne!) - its status as a damage-over-time effect actually comes from its original appearance in Persona 1 (which Sakurai played back in the day), where it dealt a small amount of Death-type damage each turn. The upgraded forms were different than the P5 versions (Baeiha and Maeiha for small AoE medium damage and all foes high damage, respectively), so they went with the modern Eigaon rather than the old name.
He probably didn't mention it cause a lot of people didn't play Persona 1 and 2. Most ppl I've seen started with 3. Shit I started with 5.

Gun Special is actually a reference to Down Shot. (Or literally the "Special" option in the gun menu.)
In-game the move is shown as Joker firing three times, jumping/rolling to the side, and firing three times again to knock an opponent down immediately, similar to how Gun Special in smash fires three times and how it allows you to roll or jump between bursts.

5:59 2 issues:
1: "Tether" recoveries, as they're called, are recovery attacks that have some sort of string or something that pulls the person to the ledge. In this case, the "string" is a grappling hook. Anyways, tether recoveries are actually quite uncommon.
2: Joker has some of the best recovery in the game, with Arsene or not.
You didn’t even say how forward smash with Arsen is cleave

His walking and running animations are both references to the game. The fast walking resembles normal P5 movement, and the running looks like how joker runs up to an enemy when he’s going to use a knife skill.
Joker down air looks like the “show me your true form” that you do when ambushing a shadow.

I should probably note that the dash that Joker does for his final smash could be an reference to the dash he does to hide in cover (also you can turn around and try again for the all out attack) also can I just say if I could change gun special I’d change it to the down shot, keeping the triple burst but having a medium chance of tripping the opponent.

The dlc spirit fight - the phantom thieves - references the first team of phantom thieves in p5 (not including Joker). Pikachu is Morgana, Captain Falcon is Ryuji (He has the bat which is like Ryuji’s melee weapon) and Zero Suit Samus is Ann (With the default red latex suit)

mmm maybe not. The gameplay, music and stylistic flair are enough to carry it though.
its a good game if your interested in its genre, its heavily a turn based rpg game and when your not fighting you can explore and go to school, the game has time constraints where you can only do so many actions a day so it might be a bit hard to get into if your not interested in those sorts of games, however if your like me i never really liked those yet the game quickly grew on me its really fun once you get the hang of it
