    I am a 15 y/o student who has had MIT as his dream university, his goal for longer than he can even remember, and I am striving, doing my best even right now (9th Grade, High School). If I may give an advice to anyone who'd be reading this comment, start getting ready early on. MIT is really, really hard to get in to, it's the best of the best in its field after all. But never, ever lose hope, never stop working for your dream. Hopes and dreams are what keeps us going, what keeps us enjoying life. No one except my parents and my girlfriend think I can get into MIT, they're always like "Yeah bud I'll see you in Massachusetts lol", always joking around. I even have a nickname now, they call me "Massachusetts" or "MIT". People will always make fun of this dream, but that's only their own weakness. I am guaranteeing anyone who's reading this comment and is in a similar situation as me, that in the future, if they don't lose hope and work hard, they'll be looking at those people who made fun of them from the stairs of MIT.
    Shortly, I am a high-schooler who has set his heart at MIT and I am advising anyone who wants to go to MIT to never lose hope and just keep on grinding!

    Okay so honestly I realized I'm pretty stuffed. 5% is a joke, 2% is even worse. Like think about it. She said you are putting your name in the goblet of fire, but I'd rather do that (did the math it's more likely being picked for the goblet of fire than getting in to MIT with a 4.0 GPA) but quality is only valuable cause it's rare and that makes the admissions process worth it... I guess, haven't been to college yet. But if I do get into MIT I guess I'm the tri wizard champion? 😂

    • @charlieshin9868
      @charlieshin9868 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hristina Nikolic MIT currently is no 1 and Stanford is no 2 and harvard is no 3 the top 2 are great for engineering. Although i would recommend going to MIT if you can but mit is very old. they still use a chalkboard and it may be hard to see or understand. bht mit has great labs and one of the best professors. you should look up what university best suits you. take into consideration your score, your location, your tuition fee and your own opinions about the university dont just want to go to a university because its famous and well known. if you dont have good credits not a lot of jobs will hire you regardless of the college you went to

    I’m a freshmen, and I do science fair. I got 3rd place at state in Environmental Sciences, and I got 2nd place at regionals. I also have art at VASE State competitions (aiming for nationals next year), and I got Gold Key in my scholastic art awards. I also have a science internship this summer, and I got accepted to a science program scholarship ($2,000) at some governors academy thing. I’m also doing 300-400 hours of volunteer work this summer. I have all As (a few A minuses), do you need to get into AMC or Math olympiads to even have a chance?

      As someone who got accepted to MIT less than a week ago and hasn't done anything nearly as amazing as those, I can confidently say no. I will say that your asking that question means you're looking at college admissions the wrong way.
      Don't do something you don't want to do just for the sake of making your application look better. In a way, it could actually make your application look worse. Based on what you've said, you're interests lie mostly in the environmental sciences/arts. Doing a math olympiad would seem slightly out-of-place. Do what interests you, and do it with a passion. As Stu Schmill, the Dean of Admissions, said in a blog post, you're a high school student first and an applicant second.
      You're already off to a great start. Keep it up and in 3 years maybe you will receive that coveted acceptance letter, too. PM me if you want to talk more.

    Those who "dream" to be in a prestige college are ones who are close-minded about colleges out there. Know why you want to be in a college, know what you are paying for, know your own ability. Don't just go off the street screaming "I want to be in MIT!!!" like a idiot. Fact that she copied Steve Jobs and so did most MIT students is uh...lack of originality? Maybe that is a similar reason why literally no big innovators came from MIT.
    (My point is, don't judge a book by its cover, find the college that suits your need, be realistic and be creative to make your option as wide as those in MIT.)

      I 'm still young and am just starting to look at college stuff seriously, but I do think people should keep an open mind because there's good things about every college, and at all colleges you will meet new people, and most colleges will have people who are also interested in and passionate about what you are interested in and passionate about. And I agree partially, in that people shouldn't necessarily just want to go to a college for it's prestige, I think people should choose their college based off of what they want to learn there, how challenged you want to be, the kind of people they want to meet there, and other things like that, everyone has a reason, and I think that's part of why so many people want to go to MIT. For me, I know I have a lot to learn before I decide college stuff, but part of why I sort of "dream" of going to MIT is all the wonderful people I feel like I would meet there, and I feel like I sort of belong with people like that, and I want people around me who will inspire me and challenge me. I want to be in that environment with so much passion for these sort of things, and that challenges me constantly. But I also know that at other colleges there will be incredible people, and you can inspire the people around you and learn from and contribute to any community. I think even if you don't go to a particularly challenging college, but still really want to challenge yourself, stay passionate!, and challenge yourself in your own time, there's so many resources nowadays and still so many opportunities to learn and do things, so continue follow your passion no matter what school you go to and you will find yourself will you want to be, I think.. But yep!

      The app is gonna be out sometime early-mid August on My MIT. I'm pretty sure the deadline for EA is November 1 and the test scores should be from the November test date at the latest. Nonetheless, double check on the MIT website, I haven't read the deadline page in months.

I know my worth is better than whatever outcome MIT has for me! Good luck out there, future applicants and I hope I’m a future beaver 🦫 🤞

      Depends if you're young or old. Younger people can apply and there's precedent as well. Not sure about mature admission policies.
